Its 2009,what im sayin things havent improved since 1989 im not slagging you off shannonman its tough when a few clubs around the same area and bringing new people into the club to give ye a hand did ye ever get anything from lotto or fai.
dunno bout grants to be honest but there is a 300 club in place and planning permission is in for a dressing room...we have a great school boy setup now and things look good...ill put it this way...20 years with the club and its the first time it actually feels like its going foreward from the under 8's through to the comittee..things look good...there are kids all over shannon wearing our kit and jackets. they implementation of standardising the kit to be Nike across the board was genius

only time will tell...i think we're good enough to get promoted but that doesn't mean we will be...it'll be very tough, we're unbeaten since the opening league game and we'll probably have to remain unbeaten to go up
Just make sure that if ye stay unbeaten that ye dont draw too many..........heard ye made hard work of yer 0-2 win away to Prospect last Sunday..........

ye are on a good run alright,i hope ye can keep it going because from a personal point of view i'd love to see ye go up,imo this is the best chance ye have had for 4 or 5 years, the lads ye have signed should have definitely made ye stronger and ye have one or 2 lads with premier experience which could stand to ye in tight games.
The other side of it is is that mungret are looking good and even though a lot of there games in this half of the season are away from home this is when they really pput in a challenge last year.Star are also on a run and this is a massive week for shannon. If they do well out of there next 4 games it will give them great confidence.

well we're not in the same league(literally) anymore...but there will always be rivilary between us which to be honest is great. but since they joined with newtown its different i suppose because maybe some of the ex-clare leaguers would be indifeerent to us, but there is a healthy hatred(my wayne rooney moment)!! :D

shannonman,,, ye always had a great schoolboy setup problem in past was a hell of a lot of players leave for other clubs when they get older.. can't really see it being any differnt now ... new gear & jackets look excellent but ye need to also push for more sucess on pitch :ball:

Take your point about players leaving as they get older....but look at our team now...the majority of us have played for shannon town since we were school boys...maybe some have left and come back(gerry kelly, darren griffin, packie d'arcy) but most have been there years.

Well i dunno bout Brian Power
But Gareth Aherne, Darren Griffin, Deccy Carew, Alan Watson, Fergal McCarthy, Adrian Carew(still youths) Davy Fla...... Jamie Egan...just Outta youths...and then signed for us! Packie Dracy played schoolboys as did Gerry. Alan Downes.
I mean if anything this year we have attracted players rather than lose them...youngsters like Jamie..Gary Leahy, Chippy...and Adrian Staying have been big pluses.

One question, why is that young lad <Adrain Carew> not playing youths football if he elligable to play, why is he not pursuing his carrer at youths level.
Did he ever play youths?

jamie egan / gary leahy left newtown a couple of years back to join newmarket celtic youths , adrian carew was also playing with newtown up untill a season or so also , chippy also signed for newtown a season or so back also ... so question must be asked why did they leave shannon town in first place .. plus chippy & gary leahy would be gaa men as first choice sport :ball:

Any predictions for the week ahead? Its going to be a tough week for some teams with away fixtures for the first of the mid-week games, it'll be interesting to see the reaction and how the squads will be affected with some teams caught for players with work commitements and college etc. I think this will be the week to test shannon, I know when we played them they looked to have a big squad, with 4 games in a week(give or take a few days) they will need that squad to keep that momentum they built up, to keep that going.
Also for Star they have 2 home games in a week, it could see them really jump up the table and really make a claim for promotion and challenging for the league.
Mungret have had alot of home games so far so 2 away games in 4 days out in sticky places such as h'town and croom will test their resolve to see how they cope with some dodgy pitches and the evening kick-offs.
All in all a big week for the overall league that could really shake up the table some bit.:ball:

schoolboys also play home & away so again they should only have 1 daunting & terrible long journey out to shannon... what about shannon town / park and other clubs not based in city they also have to travel into limerick midweek and you don't see them on moaning :p you don't seem to know alot about soccer in limerick if you have to ask what league park rangers in .. as they are now known as park afc :ball:

strange decision alright about jamie by park.. he should have had no problem getting onto that park team. yeah players are signing & also staying which looks good for the future .. my only worry would be if park get promoted they may come poaching a few of your players and a few you already mentioned may be easily talked into leaving.. i don't always use my big wooden spoon negativaly :D::D

your so negative...we are now attracting players to out club like we never had before...i personally have been with the club 20 years and in that time i have had my chances to leave and have come very close to it at times. But never did and i dont regret it. i won stuff at school boy and youth levels and also won the 1A a few years ago. if after this season and the leaps foreward my club have made that someone wants to go and sign for Park Rangers...get good luck and good riddence...it just angers me that people have this impression of shannon town as a backward club when we aren't, we are a foreward thinking club...ok we dont have the best pitch or dressing rooms but the effort that is going into bring kids up through the ranks is staggering....and the comittee is working on improving our dressing rooms and hopefully in time our new pitch can be a decent pitch..

never said your club was backwards .. ye have the oldest club in shannon so ye must be doing something right.. new website is excellent / gear etc ... seen a lot worse pitches around limerick/ clare i am only saying ye always seem to have trouble holding onto players over the years .. bring them all through schoolboys level and then alot chose to leave !! after all the staggering work it must be difficult to see some of these players chose to leave ? but ye are not the only club with this problem.. it is a pity there is not a lot more players like urself around who show a bit of loyalty to their clubs. i have a couple of nephews currently playing with your schoolboys so i am not totally biased against shannon town and i hope you win league 1a or get promoted to preimer league to p**S off all your fans in limerick & also it would be great for football in shannon :ball:

No because you seem to have made more comments and asked more questions about Shannon then any other team in the division. Not trying to have a go at you, was genuinely asking do you consider them the biggest threat in the league? Its obvious they have a tough week ahead and I personally think if they did get 7 points it would be an excellent 7 points.

i don't think shannon town are that much of a threat, not from what i've seen of them. they are strong at home on that awful pitch but whether they can do the business away from home is questionable. time will tell. mungret and star for me

Dont really know who is the biggest threat tbh, especially considering all teams will drop silly points between now and the end of the season (just look at the Dines this morning being betean 3-0 away to Croom), so its still a bit early.

It wasn't a great game, mungret took a very early lead. At 1-0, herbertstown had a few chances but didn't convert them. Mungret went 2-0 up about 10 minutes into the second half and then closed out the game. We scored our third on the stroke of full time.
I was surprised with the other results, summerville and star are right back in contention for promotion now:ball:
