very poor game alright..pitch wasn't in the best nic for football which made it a very scrappy game. best 3pts mungret will get all season..they were on the backfoot from the 5th minute when they scored.shannon will feel very hard done by. 28 from 30 pts for mungret...

Agreed, it was a poor performance by Mungret, defending for most of the game but stuck it out and got a great 3points. Shannon played to their strengths with long throw, high balls into the box to their players who are mostly well over 6ft. Mungret just couldn't get hold of the ball and play it on the ground which is the only way to hurt shannon. Not many teams will take points off shannon this season, it was just a stroke of luck that mungret found the back of the net and you need that bit of luck when you are playing a big physical team like shannon.

Is it true ye have played 9 home games this season??

Have to disagree with you there pal, I dont think Star will come back into it this season simply because they cant get their strongest eleven out for most games (for different reasons).

I would have to fancy Mungret to win the league and second spot to go to any of Shannon, Dines or Summerville with Star finishing maybe 5th or 6th, with Star maybe having a major say in who gets promoted!!!!!!

dont mind making excuses ye just aint good enough hate to say it i played with star few years back myself club is going backwards hopefully might change soon:mad:

No we've played 8 home games, 2 away.
We've travelled oot to croom twice only for the pitch to be unplayable and yesterdays game was switched to our pitch for some reason. Was yer pitch unplayable or something? We're gonna have a tough 2nd round with a lot of away games.
On yesterdays game I thought we played well below par. Maybe this was because of the early goal we got but i'm not sure. We were defending constantly for the last 20 minutes. We should have had a penalty in the second half though from one of our counter attacks. The guy who takes yer throw ins really slows the game down, he takes an unbelievable amount of time drying the ball every single time even if its headed straight back to him!

I dont know, croom is a hard place to a get a win with the state the pitch I'm guessing will be in but that might suit shannon's type of game,
and charleville will be no push overs on their home patch,
I'll go for 3 away wins,
a draw with star and hill celtic,
and a home win for charleville. :ball:

good point but I just think out in charleville, they could be difficult to beat. We played them at the start of the league at home and beat them 4-0 but they havent conceeded many goals since then, either way a tough one to call

after seeing mungret on sunday against shannon i don't think they have the league quite as wrapped up as the table looks at the minute. Of course conditions affected performance but it's very interesting to see they've played ten games, 8 of which at home

In fairness though the game against shannon was down for shannon but changed to mungret, but we would have preferred to have a few more league games away from home, I don't know how we got them all at home.

Our pitch just wasn't playable last weekend...beleive me we want home games but the bottom line you have to play everyone twice so when isn't really an issue

Believe you me, no club want to be going into the last 10 games of the season and having a run of maybe 7 or 8 games all away from home.....especially when a lot of those games are outside the city area (Croom, Shannon, Herbertstown, Cappamore, Charleville)

was at mungret shannon game on sunday and going on what i saw you would have thought shannon were top. mungret very lucky start and sat back under pressure for rest of game. mungret very lucky to come out with 3 points, shannon must have been very disapointed not to get a point or even all 3 points, but you know what they say you need a bit of luck to succeed in the league. mungret will have another tough one this weekend.

Congratulations Shannonman for highlighting this level of inefficiency, and failure to inform the L.D.M.C. about the obvious unplayable condition of this pitch. A phone call from the club to the fixtures man and everyone could have stayed safe at home, on a morning when driving conditions were dangerous.

Well this isn't a go at Croom per say but just the whole policy of what we have been through this season. its a joke. and so frustrating. watching the ref splash in puddles when we could have stayed in bed or trained not to mention losing a saturday night because you cant be sure its gonna be off cause no phone call has been recieved.....argh!!! im taking up swimming...there are plenty of pools around!!

We rang LDMC yesterday at 12.30 (which as plenty of notice ) and were told that all matches stand unless referees call them off. That was after we had 2 pictch inspections 1 early in the morning and 1 at 12 o clock.

Dont know where you got the idea it was too late..... it only takes two phone calls one to the away team and one to the ref to call match off, be it at 3 in the afternoon or 8 at night , as for inspecting the pitch you need to walk on the pitch for bests results and not all pitches are in complete darkness so its not hard to tell if unplayable especially with the rain we got yesterday common sense should have prevailed instead of having sixteen players travelling 30 miles at nine thirty on a sunday morning, last week we also travelled out the country only for no ref to turn up so you could say i am a bit annoyed

good result for the 'ville, tough match but s'ville deserved it, charleville could never really break through on goal. Pitch was in great nick, bit heavy but considering conditions it was in v good condition, didn't really cut up at all. Think S'ville could go on a run after this result
