newmarket can take all games but is it fair that the game would be switched to newmarket just to get it played
unfai advantage me thinks
although it didnt help manus b last week
some first goal scored by all accounts a fella was tellin me

if it means getting games played after a week of training surely thats better than no game. Im sure Newtown would agree as they are so far behind in the amount of games played in the league.

When is the draw on for the next round of the cup?

Game is switched to Newmarket. Makes no difference as we have to play them twice, next game will be at Ballycasey.

Why is the match switched papa-j?

As for the avenue and rhine match i agree with many that it will be a big ask for rhine to get a win but at the same time rhine seem capable of an upset.wat you think Avenue C?

avenueC

well lookin at the tables they are scoring for fun in div3 an that will give them great confidence but lookin at their division its mostly b teams they have played so i would discount over 50% of their goals. but i have heard they are basically( in theory/on paper!!) a very good 1st division team so im sure avenue arent taking them lightly in any regard,it would take a very bad day for avenue for rhine to get a result but thats what the cup is all about,,

rhine rovers to beat avenue?
come on boys dont let your jealousy of the club cloud ur judgement to a retarded level

that would be a bigger shock then barnsley beating liverpool
it wont happen.. wishful thinking though

I think Rhine Rovers will surprise a lot of people...
I agree that they could cause an upset...
And I hope they do, for the sake of the league as a whole...

People have to realise there's more than one division in Clare,
and a lot of good footballers all the way down to the 3rd Division...

I expect Rhine to put up a fight but Avenues fitness and absolute class will shine through in the end.

terrible game..newmarket scored from free kick which should never have been given..skinny dropped (would have saved it)..if any of these teams win league it will just show how bad clare football is getting...

Avenue won 4-1 in cup against so called world beaters from Rhine.Enough said.

Special 1 - I wasnt at the game mentioned above between Newmarket and Newtown but where do u get off making comments like that? If either of these teams win the league it will be deservedly so.They have invested money in facilities etc and provide a good set up for school boys all the way to juniors. Who/What exactly in your experienced! opinion deserves to win the league? You come on here and talk enough bullsh~*t im dyin to find out. Please enlighten me with your vast knowledge.Maybe you should concentrate on maintaining the fabolous facilites out in Rineanna??;)

special one you are way wide of the mark with this comment. the game was scrappy alright but both teams had alot at stake. if you want to see premiership standard stay on your sofa and watch sky. if either of these teams end up winning the league they will have deserved it as i know for a fact that both these sides are training hard. never seen some of the priemier players as fit. if you have seen these teams a couple of times this year as u claim u have you will no that they are well capable of better football but im sure newmarket wont care about the standard as 3 points are 3 points

"are you telling me that because these teams have a schoolboy setup that they deserve to win the league...."

Im telling you that any team that puts as much effort into facilites as these teams do deserve everything good that they get. Coming out with a comment like neither team deserves to win a league on the basis of a very scrappy game puzzles me. But as you said thats your opinion. Its all irrelevant anyways as Avenue will pull through in the end and win the league.

"i'd like to see newtown winning the league because they have taken enough crap off ye avenue guys on here over the years..."

I think you find that newtown create there own crap on this site and dont need anyone from Avenue to help with that!

"you are when slagging rhine as your sarcastic comment above does.."

I never slagged off Rhine - I simply said that the class of our a team would be too strong for a third division team albeit a very good third division team and I think you will find by looking at the result i was right.

Fight at the bottom of premier looks interesting, Kildysart, Bunratty, Burren, Bridge Celtic, Rineanna and Moher imo will have to fight it out to stay up, IMO Kildysart and Burren will go, the other 4 will be left to fight it out to avoid the dreaded play off,

To be fair, no-one said they were world beaters.
We were just acknowledging the fact that Rhine could have caused an upset...and in my opinion it would have been a good thing for Clare soccer,
a 3rd Division side beating a Premier side...

But well done to the Avenue navy for navigating that potentially sticky situation :D

ya kildysart are in big trouble now,as good as down really. agree that burren will be probly go too, they battle hard but at the end of the day they've no real quality or cutting edge. i think rineanna will have enough to stay up but its hard to call between bunratty, bridge celtic and moher for the playoff

regards bridge celtic v bunratty. bridge celtic ran the show, couldnt buy a goal for love nor money. had two players sent off also which didnt help. shouldnt get relegated but if they dont shape up it could be tough

Woulfe Park
03/03/2008, 3:25 PM
Bit of an overstatement to say they ran the show. Bunratty scored early enough in the first half, BC scored half way through the second half (OG). Both sides had 3/4 very good chances to score that weren't capitalised on. 3 Sending offs (two for a handbags type flare up, one for a subsequent tackle) happened late in the game when nerves were getting frayed with the importance of the game to both sides. Nothing much in them - none should be worthy of a 3 game ban. The game was tough but probably not helped by the tendency of this particular referee to let the game flow too much early on giving licence for harder tackling from both sides that will always result in tempers flaring in a tight match.

Important point for the rats in stopping a rot of league losses but a long way to go to be anywhere near safe. It will be one of the tightest relegation fights in years with 7 teams capable of being dragged into it.

Cheers Bossman...Very interesting draws. Two good ties between Newmarket and Rineanna and Avenue and Bunratty. It cud be the year where we see a team from the lower division make the final and cause a shock as this draw is suited to them. As for Avenue Im delighted with the draw. We played bunratty in the league few weeks ago and played them off the park with football but couldnt score. More of the same again i think...

rineanna v newmarket and bunratty v avenue ie rineanna and bunratty at home..

i wonder are you the boss in disguise...:D
if you think your going to go to bunratty and win easy i think you should open your eyes..
i'd say your avenue team mates are delighted your on here blowing your trumpet:p

Not blowing anyones trumpet. Bunratty have home advantage and alot of pride to play for but if we play to our capabilities then we should have enough. I never said we would win easy.

Hacker - how do ye fancy yer chances against the fellow parishioners? I think ye might beat them. I saw the league game a couple of weeks ago and ye were very unlucky not to win it never mind draw it.

i waited for the clare poeple and their expertise(!!!!!!!) before puttin my comments about the cup online
and the paper agreed with me, there is huge gulf between the top of the premier and the top of the 3rd.. as i had said befoer the game avenu would have to have a very bad day before rhine would have a ny chance and so it proved
avenue totally dominated the game and won as easily as the score line said, could have been a lot more but their happy with that and happy with the draw,
and before being a ccused of being arrogant with that last line, when ur a top team u enjoy being drawn against the best teams possibel( not saying bunratty are!!) but u are going to have to beatr the best along the way, theyd rather play a prem team then a lower div team any day

Avenue 1990... (is that your date of birth ?)

You mean you had to read the match report just to make sure you didn't embarass yourself by saying something incorrect...
If you were at the match, surely you would know who was the better team,
and not have to read it in the paper....

There is a gulf in class between the top of the Premier and the top
of the 3rd Division....
There'd be something wrong if there wasn't....
But the gulf between the 3rd and Premier Divisions is not as huge as you'd like to think...

Rhine Rovers are capable of giving any Premier Division side a game
(with the exception maybe of better sides like Avenue and Newmarket)...

As for the draw....
Would you not be happier with Newtown B or Corofin B since the gulf is so huge ? :o

just to clear upsomthing. avenue beat rhine rovers because they were ready for them. it was a potential banana skin. we treated them with repect they deserve. they are not a 3rd div team ra 2nd for that matter. i'd even go as far as predict they will be a prem team in 4 years. they seem to have a very good manager, good players and their training sessions look good. we approached the game in the right frame of mind and got the result we wanted and deserved. yes we would like to have a lower team but we have been kicked in the teeth by b team before most noteably avenue b. sometimes its easier to play a top team in that respect. people that know soccer will know what i'm on about? as for bunratty on their day can beat any team as i believe they have under acieved with their squad this year. their is a fine line between confidence and arragance.(ie the boss) yes we are confident we can beat them or any other team for that matter but not arragant to know that we could be beaten just as easy. newmarket have that belief and swagger this year (with good reason) and i wouldn't call it arragance. if you don't go into every game believing u can win stay at home.
