Limerick 3-2 Clare
Anyone got a match report from yesterday's OT Match.
What was the starting 11 and who scored.
Going by the scoreline it seems Clare gave a good account of themselves.

Anyone got a match report from yesterday's OT Match.

Going by the scoreline it seems Clare gave a good account of themselves.
Limerick went 1 nil up, header from Alan Barry (Janesboro). Clare Pulled 1 back from the Peno Spot, Davy Ryan (Newmarket) scored it, great peno giving the Lim keeper no chance. Bad mistake from the Lim keeper, he called for the ball when Philip Purcell (Pike) was about to head it clear,he left it for the keeper and Clare player "not sure who" did well to get infront of the keeper and was brought down in the box, again by the keeper. Limerick went 2-1 up,again another header this time from Mike Beahan (Regional). Limerick went 3-1 up Not sure who scored. Clare were gifted another goal, Bread and butter save to be made by the Limerick Keeper but he Paried the shot straight into the path of inrushing Clare player,Sorry again not sure who scored it.
Clare did do ok but not enough as the score line shows.

for a guy/girl from newtown smelly feet, not knowing one of ur own scoring clares second, it was cheeky mcdonald knockin in the rebound from b rochfords free kick, is strange
skinny , crush . rochy , jay stretton, d brody , fahy , russell , o malley , e o brien neenan , davey ryan
and on a final note it was good to see them put in a batling performance , ystrday and against cork , especially having being written off by most after the waterford game and the decision by certain clubs not to put players forward to represent their county ( and certain players deeming themselves too good for the team) was disappointing

Ya the Big game is on Saturday,Away to Trinity Corianthians Dublin. They are a Saturday League team, Supposed to be fairly handy so will be a tough game.
Don't think Newtown are missing any players so hopefully will get the win and can celebrate in the Big Smoke Saturday night, few supporters are going aswell so should be good craic.
If Newtown get into next round it would be nice to get Home draw against 1 of the Big Boys, Maybe Pike:eek:

Fair play to lads who represented the county over the three games. nice to c that these players had pride in the county jersey. As for the countless number of players who declined the offer to represent clare shame on you. b4 anyone gets on their high horse i personally asked jim madden who informed me that he was told by at least 15 players they were not intrested in playing. we all know who the certain club is, its a pity as its players would have added greatly to the team

I think if your pitch is definitely playable it is up to your club secretary to inform the league. I know that this happened on occasion last year.
In fairness to the league they need to make a call and taking into account the severe weather conditions last Thursday and Friday they had made the right one.
No point playing one game and having your pitch out of action for a month. But saying that I'm sure if your pitch is up to it the league would not have a problem.

Even doh last years league champs are playing in the clare league alot of them would count themselves as originally from limerick,so maybe that has something to do with them not wanting to play with clare ot.

so plastic pitch do you think its right no lifford players would play for clare..especially after clare board bending over backwards at start of season to accomadate there u21 team by defering games
No, i don't think its right, but to say that no lifford player would play for clare is false.
well fair play to the clare board for trying to help the devoplment of the u21 structure in the county... they could have played games over christmas.. but i dont hear anything about that. also they would be doing well to have NEUTRAL referees officiating over premier matches... but i suppose we all have to grin and bear the decisions of the clare board
..much to the frustration of other teams who still had players who wanted to represent their county???? as above

Back to the weekends games if any are to go ahead. Predictions anyone
Cassidy Park: Lifford A V Moher Celtic
Home Win
Bunratty: Bunratty A V Avenue United A
Draw
Rineanna: Rineanna Rovers V Newmarket Celtic A
Draw
Cahercon: Kildysart Celtic V Bridge Celtic A
Away Win
Also Best of luck to Newtown the weekend. It's great to see a team from Clare flying the flag at this stage of the competition.
Anyone out there think that it could cost them the league in the long run. They are already 4 or 5 games behind the teams at the top. When it comes to April or May the teams with points on the board will have more of an advantage than the teams with games in hand.

Thats a good point. Its good to be in the FAI at this stage but when knocked out it sometimes puts a downer on things.

dan aherne and adrian duhig(now in australia) would have been the only two on last years team that would have considered themselves limerick.....considering that dan played oscar traynor for clare for 2/3 years i find this a some what flawed point....
think the lack of bridge celtic representation is due to a couple of years ago 6 of the lads were on the panel, ger o connell was the only one to start any of the matchs with dan on the bench and i think the other 4 lads were a bit disillusioned with the set up and have no interest goin through the same sh1t again

No.. it doesn't!! its easy to blame the players, but its not their fault.
I am thinking that the only way the OT would be taken seriously by the best teams in the county is to have 2 premier managers in charge with denis hynes doing the coaching. at least this way all the players would be viewed at some stage of the season.. upto 4 times!! whereby the managers would have the seen the best players and then pick the best squad.
also training could be a match with the managers home club. this would allow the OT panel to find out at least the name of the guy they are playing with before a proper match:eek:
however finding 2 premier managers to make a commitment would be difficult under present circumstances:o

That playing for a long time is a good thing, Experience, both have played at this stage and further in the FAI so I reckon thats something that Newtown need in this game. Noel is probably one of the fittest players on the team and Jay reads the game fairly well. I think they work well together.
Ryan can be up and down, great skill on the ball but if its a kicking match don't think he will fancy it. Though i think he will be one that could win this game if he's on form. Bunny we all know can make sh1t of you if you let him, Its a must that he gets the ball as much as possible so he can have a big inpact on the game.
Really hope they win in Dublin and best of luck to them.
I'll predict 2-1 win
