Looks very good, provides fixtures but its a bit of a waste if the League tables aren't updated. Also, whoever is in charge of it should try to get Match reports, Nearly every Club in the League has someone on this site that could give a match report to Clare League and they should put on the Leagues own site.

ya the website is fairly decent alrite but for some strange reason in some places it updates a lot quicker than other places...eg when im at home the premier and youths tables and top scorers update an hour or so after each day of games but if i go on the site at work even a few days later it still wouldnt have updated and the top scorer tables are just blank.

From a conversation I had last night , something struck me about the way football is in Clare. Loyalty and peoples perception of loyalty. Now before anyone jumps on that statement I am only expressing a view that I have at things as they are now. I was talking to a manager of a Clare league side who named his team to me that played during the week and this is my point the players that he named had and probably will never have any loyalty to the club that they are "representing". Is it a case where a club name can now be used by a bunch of lads that want a kick about without any interest in the club itself.
It is understandable that players will move from club to club but when a club is moved from club to club it makes me wonder.
Gone it seems are the days when a player would take pride in wearing the jersey of the first team in his club. Now it seems that any ** that says he will turn up on a Sunday can play for that club.
Any opinions

Players I can understand , Clubs moving is what I am getting at. Read the post before you give an opinion. And yes we all know your loyalties can be bought for a can of coke and a mars bar.:p

Loyalty is a 2 way street.Based on what youve said above should the clubs have loyalty to the players???

Of course a club should have loyalty to its players. What I am saying is that it seems that players loyalty to a club is not important to some clubs . Players that move on mass from one club to another and are only representative of the club in name only.
Club =a group of persons organized for a social, literary, athletic, political, or other purpose
History = the record of past events and times, esp. in connection with the human race.
Nomads = A member of a group of people who have no fixed home and move according to the seasons from place to place

You have a very good point there but I fear most people on this thread in particular are afraid to sway from conservative liberalism.

But as conservative liberals are often in favour of stricter rules on immigration and are not enthusiastic about multiculturalism, should this not make them more inclined to show some degree of loyalty.;)

i'd say your guiness was spiked.....:p
did you stay up all night thinking bout this:D
I don't drink, and yes I am a little tired after debating the worlds wrongs all night. My musing began with the idea that if everyone stayed where they belonged and stopped these mass migrations into other peoples territories then we would have less ghettos which breeds contempt which leads to increasing violence which in turn leads to war and chaos will prevail.
Then again I might just wait until i hear the inevidable story about the player that turns up at the wrong ground for a match because he had forgotten which club he was being loyal this season and was looking at the wrong fixtures.:p

todays results
newtown 3 kildysart 1
newmarket 2 rineanna 2
Newtown made hard work in seeing off Kildysart, Jamie Cullen got a great goal to put them 2 up. From there they struggled and when the visitors scored Newtown panicked. They brought on Bunny Carr in the middle of the park?? Strange decision, he is very over weight and Kildysart went straight through the middle.
To be honest a better side would have punished Newtown.

a bit harsh to blame bunny for newtowns panicking.. they gave the ball away to much and in fairness bunny did not waste to many passes but a few other players beside him & behind him went missing newtown lost their shape completly but still should have won it handy cheeky should have scored at least one of the great croses put in by johnny okura :ball:

bunny should be playing with b team every week to help him get fit at least he would be getting full games and not brought on for last 30 mins ..
also players beside him did not help and defence was terrible for a while so it was not all bunnys fault .. :ball:

I was looking at results since the start of the season and noticed that Newmarket have 3 games played, all of them at home.Their next fixture is a home game aswell:confused:
Will this turn into a battle for them to get players available to play 4 away games at the end of the season.
Also, I know they have a new pitch and all but this can't be good for it, they have a B-Team and under age teams aswell who would use it aswell.

Newmarket have played 2 games so far. The beat Lifford 2-0 at home and drew 2-2 with Rineanna away.
They are however home to Bridge Celtic on Thurs night and home to Avenue next Sunday.

Hacker , don't be delluding yourself, the pitch in Rineanna hasn't changed in I don't know how many years. Be careful that you don't become the Clare Leagues Dave Bassett and have the unenivable knack of having clubs relegated.
Were Rineanna not informed when the league was starting or were the cattle gone to mart.:)

Yes and it was appreciated , but wasn't there a very good reason.
As Hacker has alluded to is that the switch happened last week was for tactical reasons.
Gamesmanship is different.

I drove past Rineanna pitch the other day aswell and it was poor. Whats the story, is it closed or something? The league is a few weeks old and that field is in terrible knick. Why was it let get like that in the first place. Does it not get cut during the summer. Just can't understand why it wasn't ready for the start of the season after all it is where the games are played:confused:
Maybe there is a good reason for it being the way it is,but if not its incredable:eek:

handiest way to get there is drive out past the entrance to Lee's Road. U pass Drumcliff cemetery and Cassidy park is about 200yards after on the right... as the fella says ' ya can't miss it'

Sorry but there was no way i was getting out of my car to walk a field:),anyway i was in a hurry. What i did see was a field with loads of long grass and i mean loads of long grass, loads of long greeny brown grass.

may be part of a masterplan to ensure a lot of home games at end of season due to pitch being unplayable due to the long grass you keep talking about :ball:

Bunratty 16/1??? Are you mad? Whrer on earth are you getting theses odds from?? Great come back from the Rats yesterday..Newtown were missing a load of players yesterday some youths called up to fill the voids, Avenue are very average.
Bunratty 3 Newtown 1, this evening, Newtown went 1 up from a penalty, Bunratty equalised from a penalty(Newtown had a man sent off for abusing referee) Newtown missed a penalty(strange decision to switch penalty taker). Bunratty pushed on from this and showed great fitness levels to overwhelm the 10 men.
Bunratty are moving along nicely and the odds of 16/1 if still on offer would be worth a flutter.

3 penalties awarded in the game and none of them should have been penalties. Do Newtown put much time in to practising diving in training cos it won them 2 penalties last night. He has it down to a tee that young fella.;) Although I must say the penalty Bunratty got was no penalty either. Ball struck a hand alright but was no way intentional. This decision led to the sending off which I felt was the turning point.
Bunratty defender very lucky to stay on the field for pull shirt of J OK but got back to make a great tackle... Newtown could argue I suppose this was the turning point.
Have to agree it was a small bit strange changing penalty taker but easy say that now. Cheeky would score 9 out of 10 from them.
Good game though and typical of these 2 teams.
Never heard so much bickering from the line to a referee... Maybe this was the reason for 3 spotters that were'nt...
Anyway on to the next game for both teams. Tough one for Bunratty away to Moher...and Newtown travel to Lifford without Derek B.
