I was told last night that Big Daddy Magee was asked to manage the Oscar Traynor this year but turned them down. He was told what players he would be working with:eek:I always thought that if you were a manager that you get to pick your own players.
Wouldn't blame him for turning the job down if thats the case.
Jim Madden and Brendan Rochford are in charge:D
2 men with many years experience managing teams in clare !!!!!!!
sounds like a fai & stephen staunton job.....
it has to make more sense a manager picking players he wants or thinks are the best for clare oscar traynor panel ..:

Who's was the goalie for Corofin last weekend, I must say he is a fine keeper
The goalie was Mikey Concannon. He has been in great form all season and thought he pulled off a few great saves against Newcastlewest.

yea he was very good, not afraid to come and punch either, very quick of his line does he have a chance of making the oscar traynor team?

I was in Brendan Rochfords shop this morning and I asked him about this. He admitted he was asked to be player manager a couple of weeks ago but turned it down. He said he was going with the team as a player. He said all he agreed to was to help out only if the new manager wanted his opinion on something but he definitely wasnt taking the managers job. From what he says Jim Madden, Denis Hynes and Don McMiller from Cratloe are forming some sort of management team.

Anyone know who has been called up to the squad. I heard Jim Madden was calling the club managers looking for suggestions. Gary McNaboe and Dave McCarthy are being sent from Lifford. Any other names?

lets be honest lads jim madden has asked 4 or 5 people and they have all turned it down..give him a chance and if he fails then give out..but i think we should give him a bit of backing you can be sure he's only doing it cause no-one else will..and no point in pulling the team out..
Ya thats fair enough.
Still these 4 or 5 people who were asked to manage the team should be picking the squad themselves?. I'm sure Oscar Traynor Team managers all over the country get to pick their own squad,no:confused:

Bunratty well beaten by Rineanna, Bunratty played all the football first half without creating much, they are very suspect under the high ball, caught for the first goal because of this, player on the sideline sent off for mouthing at referee. Levelled right on half time but fell apart second half. Rineanna showed a great desire to win. Solid enough at the back with Daithi causing problems with his pace up front.
Its back to the drawing board for Bunratty, had most of their squad out(including Brian Donellan}

Donellan had a good first half, the full back was booked early and lucky to stay on the field in my opinion. Second half Bunratty stopped playing football and as a result Donellan couldn't get into the game.
Any truth in the manager(s) resigning before the game even kicked off?

delighted rineanna went out and softened Bunratty's cough today...Who do some of that Bunratty A team think they are like, and as for you ''the special1' saying that Bunratty will start their challenge for league honours and pick up a handy 3 points, I dont know how you thought of that!! They ae only after being promoted and just about at that, they have a very long way to go yet before they'll put in a good challenge for the league...but from what I see,the only thing they're gettin goin is their push for relegation

long way to go yet.. lifford had a better start afew years ago 8 wins and 1 draw but still didn't win the league. Thats the beauty about the clare league... so much can change and challengers can come from nowhere... but have the fingers crossed alright for lifford this year:)

That comment is a bit harsh studsup, i know the 2 lads with Bunratty, they put in a lot of work to prepare the team each week, all they ask in return is for a commitment 2 nights a week and on a Sunday, from what i see this is only happening with a few.

Bridge Utd move to second in the 1st division with a well deserved win over leaders lifford B, good goal by talented young striker Derek Fahy…Lifford had 2 players sent off late in the game, i suspect 1 will get a heavy fine and suspension as he appeared to have put hands on the ref..

Lifford boys were sent off after the game. Not sure if it was one or two. Pity really because it had been a good game up to that with nothing controversial from the referee side of things. Good Lifford side considering it is their second string, Strong centre half and good in the middle of the park.

Well thats the aim, B teams success depends on A teams progress. Hopefully both teams will be in the shake up at the end of the season.

pity that..seems like the sides were well matched. Bridge is always a difficult place to go to get a result(either Bridge at that). i would be very suprised if Bridge dont get promoted.

i really doubt that..a big club which alot of people would like to manage..
Big club alright, the 2 people over them at the moment are v.good in terms of management and coaching.
Finding it hard to get a response in terms of commitment from players.

i really hope for clare soccer that this is not the case. Bunratty is a big club whether some want to recognize it or not. they have own facilities and plenty of money in the kitty for the future planning. have lots of players committed to the cause and hopefully they will pull together now rather than take the easy option to walk away.

How many underage teams do they have?Do you know how many Lifford,Avenue,Fern Celtic,Ennis Town,Newtown ,Newmarket have??

Yeah, in all fairness there doesn't seem to be any future within Bunratty. Just the one U17 team in the underage leagues.Junior players don't last forever. 'Big club' in past for a few years on the run but now they seem to be struggling quite a bit...tention in the camp at the moment too

Bunratty having a bit of trouble at the moment, so lets hope they can get it sorted, shouldn't hit a club while their down. Don't know about them having loads of money for the future cause no club in the Clare league would be classed as a rich club. If it is a case of a few players letting the whole club down well the club should get rid of them, instead of everyone walking. No matter what you think of Bunratty or any other club, they should be left alone to deal with their lickle problum

The knights are really going to have to get with the times and get them new Ultra Violet stamps for saturday nights because if they keep going with their unwashable stamps there going to lose an awful lot of punters.
Think of the Knights disco without players from BUNRATTY:D, Newtown, Rinneana, Bunratty, Park, The Bridge, Newmarket and Olympic.
The place would be empty and shut down.:(

your a sad bitter man..just cause bunratty have won 5 or 6 pieces of silverware in the last few years..yes all without an underage system..
newtowns underage system cant be that great..how many players left this year to go to newmarket youths???:p
Sad ???Bitter???I am very happy.
2 players went to Newmarket. One because he wouldnt pay a CL fine and thought if he signed for another club he would not have to pay it,another because of noncompliance with discipline requirements. They are the facts.Do you need to know any more about Newtowns underage system?A bit different to another club I know begining with B,who for their last 4 attempts at organising an under age system withdrew their teams from the league without completing the season. They put so much effort into the underage system it has only one constant result.....failure.

3 players left, shelbourne, and they left because of different issues,I think 1 was because there manager loses to head to easy, couldnt motivate the players due to anger management,if you have a manager like that for scholboys,it doesnt do nothing for the young lads confidence.:ball:
Ive played under several Managers who have lost the head with me on many occasion, i didn't start to cry and pack up, i tried harder next time to prove him wrong. This 1 player should have done the same. How come the rest of the team stayed put:confused:
What do you suggest a manager should do, tell them that they are doing great when the reallity of it is that they are not.

24/10/2007, 11:06 AM
All managers can loose the head occasionally, but what happens down in newtown football club is very often, its not acceptable for a manager to loose the head like this fella does its crazy, parents have noticed this and wont tolerate it by not letting there kids play with this certain club,if a player does bad,why not call him aside, tell him he was unlucky and to keep the head up that he will keep improving if he keeps working hard, not **** a player out of it infront of all other players and spectators, that the poor lad is afraid to touch the ball again because his confidence is gone after verbal abuse, kick it out of the game coz it aint helping any1 improve in theres.
OK, we just have different opinions on it. What would happen though if in the future some of these players ever went far in the game and had to listen to a manager shouting his head off at them in front of a crowd and then go into dressing room and get more of it. What would their Mammy's do then.

they seem to have 5-6 underage teams on the go .. so parents seem happy enough to let their kids play with newtown.. played under a few managers who went a bit crazy at times but usually forgotten after match .. .. what do you suggest that newtown get rid of this manager because he loses it now and again .. these kids you are talking about were what age 17 / 18 c,mon now they should be well used to getting a bit of abuse ...:ball:
