6 weeks in and everyone seems to be doing substantially better than last year - and what's the story with the massive increases in Sligo and Limerick?

Longford Town v Shelbourne - no figure (1000)

Have you no figure for the one on thursday? I would have guessed at a little more than 1,000, between 1,100 and 1,200 I'd say.

our official website says 1600 v monahaghan but i'd say it was 1400-1450

The supporters trust says 2100, . The new stand holds approx 2000, there a pic on the supporters trust website which shows it full. But I think the official website would be nearer the figure.

red til dead your numbers seems a bit low. I'd say around 1,600 at the Mon Utd game. 2,100 is too high which is on thebitored.org

Here is a photo to prove to all the Galway Muppets who don't believe our attendance figures.

Not at all, from this thread alone we can tell that there seems to be a fairly decent rise in attendences on last year in general, and in come clubs a dramatic rise. It's very important to keep track of these things.

How would you know if they're improving or not?

Anyway, I think most people are just interested to see what crowds clubs pull in around the country.

Well this thread is proof attendences are starting to grow each year... rovers game in dalymount this friday against cork will prove that too!!! ;) Nearly 4,000 or more hoops and ex-hoops are ment to be attending! :D plus the travelin corkies...

Technically, it can only be proof that attendances are growing this year! ;) Last year's thread showed crowds down 20% across the board - probably due to overstating the previous year, but still disproving the idea that attendances are definitely growing each year, I'm afraid...

I would guess the attendance for the game at the RSC was about 1400-1500? the main stand was definately not full and plenty of gaps around the ground also...1100 in stand and about 300-400 around the ground.

I would have went with 2000-2500

Stand half empty (i came in late & had to do lap of ground so could see easily) & 1000 in the shed would probably be pushing it.

The Jodi holds 2,800 and I'd say there was around 1,700 in it. Throw in another 500 in the Shed and I'd say there were around 2,200 at the game. A little bit disappointing considering the amount we had plugged the game, but it's still around a thousand more than would have turned out otherwise.

Fair play to Cork, brought a good crowd up.

I thought it was a brutal crowd to be honest, of about 2,000. About 100/120 City fans there, which wasn't brilliant, but giventhe game on monday, its understandable

Aye, Irish Times reckons "half the expected 5000 turned up" as well. 2,500 sounds reasonable. Still, a good crowd for Rovers compared to the last couple of seasons.

Slash/ED
30/04/2005, 6:46 PM
Considering rovers are a club in crisis who have barely won a game all season, 2,500 in a match with little away support and a match that was only an ordinary league match is very impressive imo. You can't expect too much too soon, it's a nice foundation to build on for them.

Id agree with that. about 100-120 from Longford.

I would estimate 350 at Cobh/Dundalk, it might seem poor enough but the 2pm kick off hit the crowd, it was a 2pm start so Dundalk could make a train connection in Cork, so I'm told.

Here says 600:

http://www.sligorovers.com/match/match%20stats/2005/050429_athlone.htm

So does here:

http://www.thebitored.org/fanscorner/the%20match/Reports/29_04_05_el_athlonet_MR.htm

There was definetely more than 260 anyway.

By the way, what do you mean you'll put the lower figure in for now? Where do you put it?

the main stand holds 3,200 afaik, the shed about 1,500. So 2,500 is a good guess I reckon, 3,000 IS too high, but I'll get the official number during the week.

About 150 at MUFC v DC. A better crowd than expected given that the county team were playing in Croke Park in the league final and that game was televised (the crowd did increase with after that game was over)
