View Full Version : 2005 Attendances

As one of the five United fans present, there was at most 800-900 people at the match. Why do Sligo Rovers persist with this garbage ? It would be like me insisting the game finished 1-1.
20 in the shed area, 100 in the "away" stand, main stand capacity 1,500 half full.
The need to put on a bravado of massiveness is comical. Small cocks ?

While I think 1600 is a bit too steep, I think maybe 1200/1300 is around about correct. Patrick, jealousy will get you nowhere ;) .

Our main stand holds 2,000 I say 1,600 at the game as well.
Why would Rovers insist on saying we are getting bigger gates then we are when you have to pay more tax for bigger gates

The main stand holds 1500 and that was 3/4 full=1125
Jinks Avenue had about 100
The shed had about 40
So from my calculations about 1300
Oh and i almost forgot the 5 Galway lads that sung there hearts out through the game at the railway end + Nick Leeson.
Galway fans having a pink and purple flag PRICELESS :D

I reckon about 600-700 there with about 100 LTFC fans.

Athlone v Cobh Ramblers.
I don't know if any Athlone supporters can verify this, ( i got the info from a friend at the game Fri night) but he reckoned 250-300 at St.Mels' on Friday night.
Cork City - Derry was confirmed as 2065 in last night's programme
1204 for Pats-Bray, this time my accuracy is down to the announcement over the loudspeaker ;) , I think thats the figure that was announced anyway :) .
yeah 1204, looked like more thou. I would have guessed by looking about 1700-1800. Most of the covered stand was full, then about 100 behind the nets and 400/500 on the far side of the ground ? thats just my guessitmate thou.

Bloody hell, where did they all crawl out of.
Id put the attendance at about 80 of which 30 were kids(some who also doubled as stewards) and 25 were limerick supporters. Very sad to see in such a beautiful ground.
eh...I counted at least 110 at the match and I probably missed a few at that

From the Examiner:
" With two minutes left, United seemed to get the reward for their wonderful display when they, and all 878 people in the ground, thought they had a penalty."
Sounds like an official number.

say the examiner forgot to put a 1 before that number...stand was pretty much full

yeah, if the stand was full then 1,878 would seem just about right, with people standing all around the ground. Terrible mistake by the examiner if it is...

The stand was half empty so figure sounds about right.

Compared to 2700 mentioned here! Will be taking the 5500 for the Hpars game with a cellar of salt! :)
I'd say the harps game was around 5000 definitely, maybe 5500. Will wait and see though

lads i really hate being pesimistic but there is no sign of attendances improving in the eircom leauge, this is my first season attending all cork city away games and so far what i have seen (or not seen) are really very small attendances.
Top of the table clash 1st -v- 2nd shels v cork the best two teams in the country (i'm not forgetting derry) there was an attendance of around 1300 this fixture should be attracting at least 5000.
Cup game v Galway 900aprox, two cities with large population should be getting at least 3000. perfect sunny evening at that.
outside of turners cross there is no athmosphere at our away games from the home fans with a few exceptions, away to rovers was good, galway tried too but where do you leave the rsc, section o in longford(your having alaugh), bohs. If finn harps had something to shout about they might not be too bad.
still to come are trips to ucd :( ,bray, drogs pats and derry :)
where do people think the problem lies in having decent attendances?
Only about 1000 at this game Friday night at the RSC.

Having seen both the Bohs game and the Rovers game on TV, there could not have been more at the Rovers game. Most of the stand looked empty every time the camera panned up there. I know Bohs have a decent system to the 1,230 seems fair enough, but 1,400 for Rovers seems high, unless they were all in the bar :D

Where'd you get those from? The website was taken down a long time ago, wasn't it?
Most of them actually look pretty reasonable, though. Think that was the year Shels won the league down in Waterford, with Bohs second, Cork third and us fourth! :)

Aye, but its spirit may still be channeled from beyond the grave via the Internet Archive. (http://web.archive.org/web/20000706191911/www.esatclear.ie/~wardj/nlmain.htm) Works for many defunct sites, although it's pretty hit and miss as to what's archived.

Figures for the big four in Dublin look pretty inflated to me, especially Pat's (3,000 average for a season in which they finished sixth?) In the light of recent revelations concerning Cork's attendances, scepticism is advised with regard to the above quoted figure. Also, I find it difficult to accept that a relegated, semi-professional Drogheda side would attract attendances which rival those of their full-time, championship-chasing 2005 incarnation. First Division figures seem realistic enough, bar possibly Kilkenny.

No that is the case alright! It seems we don't get alot of gloryhunters in Drogheda. Our biggest crowd in years was last year's FAI Cup semi-final against Longford and that only had a crowd just short of 4,000.

I would have said 1000 max at Drogheda v. UCD tonight. Nobody behind either goal, maybe 50 in and around the away terrace area, didn't see the stand very well, but it looked full enough - which is still only 150 or so. Terrace was less full than normal - 800 there is probably being a bit generous, so 1000 max...?
