Worth noteing the guesstimate from Cork for this game was 5,500 :)

From who? 1 person?

Almost every Cork guesstimate has been out by 1500-2000 so far. I usually take 1000 off the lowest guesstimate and still have to reduce the figure when the official figure comes out!

Also, go back to the early 30s in pages - Cork-Longford guesstimated at 4,000 but actual was 2,376, while Cork-Bohs was guesstimated at 5,000 (brought down to 4,000) where actual was 3,600. That's just the last three games!

Of course! ;)

You put in 4,000 for Cork-Bohs in fairness, versus 3,600 actual. In general, however, Cork attendances have been ridiculously overstated. Trust me - I've had to edit them every time! :)

I would treat “official” attendance figures with a degree of suspicion. It's in their interest to underestimate as well. Cough…revenue commissioners.

About 200 at the Athlone vs Monaghan game tonight including maybe 10 from Monaghan.

We made a poor team look like premier winners giving them too much room. Pain in my neck looking at the ball in the air.

Main stand had lots of spaces in it, was a third full if you scrunched everyone up together, that'd give 600. Maybe a wee bit more. No-one in the Shed or at the turnstile end. 1295 sounds about right, it looked around the same as most of our crowds recently, which have all been around the 1300 mark apart from derbies.

I'd say thats about right. 600 is the main stand, but on the other side when TG4 showed it. It looked like a fairly handy crowd from there. Shame the crowds are bad all around Dublin. I mean Shels are stuggleing to get 3000 at a home league game, thats not right. Their was 2000 at Bohs vs Bray says The Star. Not bad for a Thursday night.

How could 3406 be the attendance at Cork V Rovers? That would mean the ground was less than half full. My estimate would put the crowd at around 5000.

Sadly the star is talking out its arse. The official attendance was 1,110 one of the worst crowds I care to remember. Also the home game against UCD was something like 1,200 again not very good.

Rovers fans saying 1500 tops. 400 around the ground, 1100 in the stand (there's a picture of it up as well - looks fairly full alright).

Pats crowds are announced at every home game - possibly the ONLY thing we do correctly and professionally - other clubs and shelbourne take note

Are the official site attendances a bit on the high side? (Think the fans have disagreed slightly with them before). Would it be fairer to reduce any attendance there by, say, 200?

The Cork City chairman usually gives the official attendance for the last league game in the next programme but no sign of the Waterford attendance in last night's programme.

Hopefully these figures aren't going to become top secret again.

Capacity is only 6500 sure? There were a fair few empty seats around - not many, but still plainly visible. Will wait for the official figure to come out, but if it's over 6,500, I'm calling for City to be docked 8 points for lying on their UEFA Licence application! :p

7500 Capacity.

Main Stand - 1850 (i'll assume that 100% full)
Derrynane - 1100 (i'd got for 900-1000 cos of empty Shels seats)
St Annes End - 3000 (i'd guess 2500)
Shed - 1500
Few hundred standing behind St Annes End & in front of the Shed.

I think 700 is safe enough, will be 2 weeks before official figure.

That would make it quite a bit bigger than the main stand in Derry, which runs the full lenth of the pitch and a bit and would make it about the same size as the Jodi.....

Really? I would have put it at somewhere around 5,500/6,000 myself but I don't know how much each stand holds.

Slightly bigger than the Jodi in fact. There's no way it's even close to 3,000.

according to corkcityfc.ie :
CAPACITY: 8000 – 9000
SECTIONS OF THE GROUND: Seating Areas; The Donie Forde Stand (1900), St.Annes End (2800), Derrynane Road (1185). Standing Areas; The Shed.

re st annes end: lets say each of the 5 blocks is 18X25 seats.that gives a total of roughly 2250 seats.another 250 would comfortably fit standing on the grass and at the sides, but i doubt that is officially allowed-no grass or loose soil/ground as per uefa licensing?

for a start, the capacity is nowhere near 9000. 7200 tops imo (if standing in st annes end is included). 1850 main stand, 1100 small stand, 1500shed, 2250 st annes end seats, 250 st annes end standing means the capacity is round about 7000 on the dot.

btw theres a good 360 view of turners x available on the cork official site.

i estimate the attendance last night was 6250.thers was about 150 empty seats on the derrynane side, and a couple of hundred empty seats in the st. annes end
'twil be interesting to see when the official figure is published.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Rovers v waterford on friday, id say 1250. 350 Rovers.900 waterford though i didnt get agreat view of waterfords crowd, though there were plenty of empty home seats near our section. doubt the crowd was anywhere near the 1600 mark mentioned earlier
