Jim Corr's school of conspiracies are accepting suitable new members. Have you a tinfoil hat?

No conspiracy at all, clever on their part making Cork's side heavy to play on.

Pats losing though
No surprises there really. Could be a heavy loss. As bad as Cork have been though, they should be winning their tie. Momentum with them at this point.

They watered both sides - just not at the same time!

Great recovery from Cork. Delighted for the fans who kept faith in the team.

Interesting, as most I spoke to last night seemed to think Dundalk have little chance v Qarabag, I had a look at them this am, and they are no world beaters, much stronger than us still, but maybe there is a chance.

The trek out will be long, but at least Dlk will fly their own charter, so it will be direct.

The other seeded Azerbajan team lost to an unseeded Romanian team. (6-4 on Aggregate) not that its a fair comparison; obv Qarabag are one of those teams way ahead of the rest of their league somehow but still; they are beatable, like any team.

Let's hope for good results tonight for the Irish teams in Europe - Rovers, Cork and Norrkoeping.

Poor goalkeeping there. McNulty's days in goals surely are numbered.

2-1 now. One more for Cork will do it, but momentum swinging now.

It's all Brann at Tallaght so far.

McNulty should have done better, pity as Cork were playing well upto that point...........

Only saw the last 20 minutes...Cork just so blunt up front, couldn't force anything.

Any Rovers Brann stream?

Pat's equalise!

Still going out - 20 minutes to get two more - but an unexpected draw on the cards anyway.

Dont leave out that he was the designated regular penalty taker too!

He wasn't, it would have been Damian Lynch. In the previous round v. Helsinki, two penalties were taken by Lynch. I don't recall Gartland ever taking a penalty, Fabio would have next in line for penalties I think.

To think that they let Peter Cherrie go!!! Madness

Progress took over after that and looked a different side.

Teams cant afford to carry passengers in Europe. Still a win is a win and that wilk be good for Cork's co-efficient.

pineapple stu

The win won't affect Cork's coefficient - that's done on the round they reach.

It'll help the league's coefficient though.

2/3 luxembourg teams go through tonight.
Dinamo Minsk went out against a Latvian side which might have been a more managable draw for Pats.

Normal service resumed in Sweden; 4-1 on aggregate now. Pretty much as expected over the two legs really.

Rovers goalless approaching half-time.

Wasn't expecting that. Will be a creditable draw if we can hang on. I know Knorshopping will have been relaxed at 2-0 up, but still.

Edit - spoke too soon by the sounds of it.

Too easy there for Brann. Centre halves very poor for Rovers.

Brann 1 Rovers 0

Connah's Quay Nomads 2-0 up away to Kilmarnock, and going through 3-2 as it stands. Ten minutes left, and Killie down to ten men. Mad score.

Ballymena losing 11-0 to Malmö now. Know how that feels...

Serious result for Rovers, this. Athlone Town the only other LoI side to defeat Norwegian opposition in Europe

Fantastic stuff from Rovers. What an atmosphere in Tallaght. Big crows, Jack Byrne was excellent, as was Lopes, and Carr when he came on.

We played crap in the first half but in fairness we gave it a go in the second. Not up to scratch compared to yesteryear, I reckon previous sides would have stuffed them.

paul_oshea
18/07/2019, 8:58 PM
Such a contrast to Dundalks performance last night. Rovers play lovely expansive football. Spraying it all about and some lovely passing and movement in tight areas and score two goals off it. Carr is good in that role when holding onto something or as an out man.

Well done rovers! Who can they get next?

A very good win in the end and in some style, got the natives into a bit of a frenzy.

Why didn't Jack Byrne sign for Dundalk?
