Warmed the bench for the whole game yesterday. Hope this doesn't continue.
I don't know what formation Blackpool played today, but the guy who likely replaced Reid in the lineup (Jason Puncheon, who is a winger and I imagine played on the right with Adam in the lineup) scored, so perhaps some competition.

You really think Andy Reid will be sold for more than a million pounds at some point in the future? What's that got to do with it? Staying up would be worth a packet to Blackpool, and every incremental final league placing is worth about 500k I think. Reid definitely augments their squad.

If they go down they'll sell Adam and have a very good player proven at Championship level, and who has shown his quality on occasion in the EPL. Good business I reckon.

Ms. Taylor says some very nice things about Andy here. I know she's a fan but, in fairness, she's probably seen him play a lot more times than any of us on here.

One substitute jogging along the touchline appeared a little less athletic and somewhat rounder than the others. Armed with a laptop, I found the temptation irresistible. "Andy Reid looked more like the winner of a competition to be part of Roy Keane's squad for a day than a professional footballer," I typed.
A slight exaggeration and a bit of a cheap shot perhaps but it was Sunderland (http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/sunderland) v Wigan and making the match report interesting had turned into a struggle destined to endure until the new £4m signing from Charlton ran on.
Reid's first act revealed a velvet first touch as he expertly dispatched a sumptuous crossfield pass towards Daryl Murphy, whose ensuing 25-yard shot sealed Sunderland's victory.
It was February 2008 and, if Keane's newly promoted side were learner drivers in the Premier League, Reid had begun teaching them clutch control.
Whether deployed wide or, even better, as a central playmaker, his wonderful left foot, gloriously varied passing range, adroit dead-ball ability and occasionally spectacular finishing undeniably helped avert relegation.
More importantly the Dubliner served as an antidote to a sport increasingly dominated by fully ripped, formidably pacey, six-foot-plus athletes choreographed by formulaic coaches harbouring an often blind faith in Prozone statistics and the virtues of high-octane pressing.
Quite apart from an innate ability to put his foot on the ball, slow things down and introduce calibrated passing triangles, Reid possessed imagination. In an era when too many footballers play as if painting by numbers, arguably the best Irish midfielder of his generation much preferred improvisation.
Admittedly the attendant risks sometimes prompted concessions of possession and extravagant indulgence in 'Hollywood' balls. Allied to niggling injuries and less than Usain Bolt-esque acceleration, such vulnerabilities convinced Steve Bruce that even a newly slimline Reid had no place in Sunderland's high-tempo future. There was a sense of inevitability about the headline which late last month declared: "Black Cat turns into Tangerine."
Blackpool (http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blackpool) have secured a treasure but Ian Holloway's reluctance to accommodate his new No43 and Charlie Adam indicates an uncertainty about displaying it. Let us hope Reid does not do a Gaizka Mendieta and, almost imperceptibly, fade into virtual invisibility.

Getting into the game now. Nice bit of play on the edge of the box there. This is a good game. "Cruyff" turn by Reid. Brilliant stuff.

Bit of praise on BBC text updates (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/9417674.stm):

From Ben Cerasale on Twitter: "Blackpool don't deserve to be losing here! Reid and Puncheon are having a stormer out there, some terrific touches, love it!"

2040: Taxi for Lampard, thanks to a delicious turn from Andy Reid. Cue cheers from the home fans.

How did Andy do, if you apply Paul Ince's slide rule?

Is that a 'how' or a 'where'?
I was watching the match on and off and didn't see anything significant really.
He seemed to be playing 'in the hole' when I saw him (which was rarely).

Anyway here is his citation in the match report.

James Beattie and Andy Reid's vast inflated super-shorts getting us back under way.

Blackpool have a free kick. It's all Tangerine right now. Reid humps it in..

Blackpool send on Ormerod and Phillips for Carney and Andy Reid's vast, billowing tent-like shorts.

So one mention for a free kick and two mentions for the size of his shorts.

Maybe he will get a sponsorship deal with Evans...

I thought he played well first half. Some nice switches of play and always demanded the ball from his team mates. Faded a bit in the 2nd half and I switched off when it went to 2 nil.

You weren't supporting Chelsea then ;)

Saw bits in between the wife's Coronation Street. Wasn't impressed but is playing up the park and I wonder why he's seldom given the play makers role in the centre of the field.

He didn't shine for the Blunts when he went on loan to them but are we now saying he's a Championship player? Shame because I remember him at Forest and he was absolute class. Can't understand why he never established himself fully in the Premiership as he was someone whom I thought had it all. Attitude, weight or perhaps I thought he was better than he was. :(

Can't see any Prem team coming in for him now - he's never done it there regularly despite opportunities at Spurs, Sunderland and Blackpool. I'm increasing thinking Reid is destined to be a Championship superstar. But I wouldn't rule out him doing an Adam and taking a team up, establishing himself from there.

Nice lad and has an attitude to play for Ireland that alot of our younger players could do to take heed of. However, the lad has had so many chances at this stage. At best he needs to get himself a championship club and try and work his way back up but not going to happen imo. Im surprised Bpool have let him go, considering they only bought him in January and that they are now relegated. Surely he wasnt on big wages and also he would be useful to them in the Championship.

There's hope for Andy Reid yet. Ronaldo just came on for Brazil for his final 15 minutes of football. He hasn't played since January and is as big as a house. Having, said that he's had three decent chances already.

One of the best players I've ever seen so he deserves a good send-off. Saw him get two of his World Cup goals in 2002 and another two in 2006. His 98th and final cap tonight.

I see Andy Reid played the first half for Forest (4-0 for Burnley) and was then substituted. 2nd half 1-1. Might have been injured but not tearing up any trees there. Why Forest got rid of Billy Davies and hired the plank McLaren I have no idea.

He came on for the last half hour for Forest and crossed for the second goal to bring things level, and then linked up Greg Cunningham for the winning goal. Sounds like he changed the game for Forest.
