Well done Pats! Did I read earlier the Elfs were confident of easy win. Will Swedish teams ever learn? Lost track of the recent victories now :D
Have Uefa changed the stadium rules again? Strange that Drogs can play qualifying round of CL in Dalymount but Pats can't. If ye get an away draw first can play second leg at the RDS. Would Windsor Park be an option?
Ireland up to 30th in the coefficients!!!

Well done to Pats ..... hats off to them they took care of business there tonight. I am more happy because it will make it harder to report 100% negativity again tomorrow.

The Swedes were so arrogant about this tie it was unreal. Even after the draw in Sweden they still were arrogant as **** in Dublin yesterday
Latest Coefficients
28 Finland 9.790
29 Lithuania 9.666
30 Ireland 9.165
31 Latvia 9.164
32 Slovenia 9.082
Only country with teams below us is Belarus (BATE in CL groups) so seems like 30th is worst will finish this season.

Amazing given they really have nothing to be arrogant about - Malmo, Djungardens, Gotenborg & now Elfsborg.

Great night. Right up there with other recent european nights.
If they draw a premiership team RTE might even show it.

I read Pat's fans accusing IF Elfsborg of arrogance on the day the draw was made, I wonder was it just confidence of winning the tie that the Swedes expressed. Tell us how Elsborg (fans? Club?) were arrogant? Please be aware the Swedish were leading at two different times in the tie.
Was at the game tonight, I'm glad you were able to play at Richmond Park and the ramped publicity was rewarded by the result. Coming back after being behind twice is impressive. Well Done.

I guessed you missed the comment about Pats being 15 years behind Swedish football by one of their scouts then?
Swedish teams fans are notoriuosly arrogant when playing Irish team. Look at Djurgarden and Gotenbergs captains comments before both legs.
In the 1st round teams earn club as well as national ranking points. Even a draw would give Pats 1 point of their own to add the national average. Very valuable for seeded as Shels & Derry City have seen.
Do Pats want big draw or smaller beatable team? I would got for biggest draw as even the smaller as all very difficult. Milan are the biggest team but this is Ireland so English sides mean TV money & exposure.

When the draw was made, Elfsborg made it known they were already making arrangments for nest round before a ball was kicked against St Pat's.
Their keeper said in interview it was best draw for them as St Pat's have no big players and irish clubs are bad in Europe.
When they were 2-0 up in Sweden you could see their arrogance in the showboating
Numerous fans were banned from our forum as they henestly thought it was tie over and they'd easily beat us. Laughing at Richer and the fact they'd never heard of our players, and their players were stars. Saying we didn't stand a chance against their ex swedish internationals and not one pats player would be good enough for their reserves.
Thats arrogance to me ;)

Just back from the game. As a neutral Eircom league supporter, I have to say this was probably the best game I've been to so far in terms of European nights and I've been to a good few (not the Hadjuk Split one tho!). The last 15 minutes were absolutely fantastic.
When Pats Equalised and then scored their second it was like Ireland winning against a big team in the World Cup Qualifiers - fantastic atmosphere. Can't wait for the next round now!
I hope they get the easiest possible draw they can get. And if not a big glamour tie like AC Milan :)
Great night for the league. Up to 30th in the co-efficient so our champion will be seeded next year definitely! :)

I really, really hope we don't get an English team. Nothing against TV money, or exposure, but I couldn't bear to see all those idiots in their Aston Villa/Man City/Spurs shirts turn up to cheer against an Irish team. I'd go for the beatable option to be honest. Superb night tonight btw, I've never heard anything like the noise in the stand as Quigo rounded the keeper to score the second. Fan-effing-tastic. The team were immense, and we didn't deserve to be a goal down. Heroic stuff.

That doesn't sound arrogant to me.
Planning in the short-term, IF Elfsborg was given as the best draw St. Pat's could have played because of their (IFE) football standing. Same, same. You need to continue to develop your thick skin if a stepover insults you when you are two-nil down.
The word 'arrogance' was used to describe them on the day of the draw. It is clear is was chosen early by St.Pat's fans, to drop it, may be a sign of error.
Why don't you make an effort to supply these notorious comments?
No offense but I dont plan on trawling through press releases from years back because you choose not to believe what people on here are saying. I know it's true.
Before the first leg in Swededn the Gothenberg captainsaid that their trip to Derry would be a holiday after the first leg.
before the second he claimed the home leg was a blip and they were guaranteed to go true.
The Djurgarden captain after the first leg said that there was no doubt that they would qualify and that the home game was a fluke.
Im sure if you're that bothered you can find the quotes. All Derry city fans and Cork City fans on here know them to be true.
Please also to provide quotes from Hammarby (FF?) from your tie last year. Does this count because the result went against the Irish club?
The Hammarby captain didnt make any stupid comments. They went about their job professionally and got a result. Hence me not mentioning them.
And if they had made comments like the above at least they would have been right. unlike the others.
Their fans on the other hand made plenty of comments like above. And because of our disgraceful performance they were proven right. being right doesnt mean you're not arrogant though
That doesn't sound arrogant to me.

You realise Ptas were actuall;y the seond worse team(after us) than Elfsborg could have drawn going by the co-efficient?
If you dont think saying you were planning for the next round as you were sure to be there(when they clearly werent) is arrogance i wonder if you actually understand what the word means

Forgot to ad the Elfsborg scout who came to watch Saints lose at home to Drogs before the first leg and reported home to Swedish media how happy he was after what he saw, and Pats reminded him of a team playing football 15 years ago.
We played them off the park tonight, and our 2nd goal in Sweden was quick passing from our box to thier goal.
They should revue their scouts contract :D

Madam,
You have got upset because I asked why the Swedish were being described as arrogant. You jumped into this conversation and then proceeded not to supply any specifics of any points you had made.
If you can't ambush a conversaton with a little more dignity and politeness please dissist. Other fans have chosen to distract the conversation by describing non-existent quotes before a UCD-Pats game, wind up or what.

3-2 aggregate so far
1st leg Elfs 2-2 Pats (pats have 2 goals which means its really 4-2)
2nd leg St.Pats 0-1 Elfs (elfs have 1 away goal which means 4-4 and could to extra time)
Do these away goals carry through to the next round?
Pats to start with a 6 goal advantage against the next opposition hopefully.

My good lady, the swedes over the years have shown a level of sheer arrogance before their games. I can go pull quotes if you really want but I am far too tired to waste my time. With a rare exception they have had them truely shoved right back down their throats.

Results, all scores aggregate.
Metalurgs (Lat) V FC Vaslui (Rom) - 5-1 to Vaslui
Suduva Marijampole (Lit) V Salzburg (Aus) - 5-2 to Salzburg (Sudova win 2nd leg )
Poznan (Pol) V Grasshoppers (Swi) - 6-0 to Poznan
Warsaw (Pol) V FK Moscow (Rus) - 4-1 to Moscow
Stuttgart (Ger) V Gyor (Hun) - 6-2 to Stuttgart
Young Boys (Swi) V Debrecen (Hun) - 7-3 to Young Boys
Brijeg (Bos) V Besiktas (Tur) - 6-1 to Besiktas
Braga (Por) V Mostar (Bos) - 3-0 to Braga
Ljubljana (Slo) V Hertha Berlin (Ger) - 3-0 to Hertha
Aab Aalborg (Den) V FBK Kaunas (Lit) - 4-0 to Aalborg (Kaunas into Uefa Cup 1st round)
FC Barcelona (Esp) V Wisla Krakow (Pol) - 4-1 to Barcelona
Of the countries we could have overhauled this year, only Kaunas are left in the competition. Great year from a coefficient point of view, hopefully BATE don't win a shed load of games in the CL and we should end up in 30th spot.
That's great news for next year as our CL representatives will almost certainly be seeded in the first qualifying round.
According to the coefficients site Pats could be placed in sub pool with the following teams.
AC Milan
Besiktas Istanbul
Spartak Moscow
Hertha BSC
Partizan Belgrade
As lowest unseeded team Pats will definitely be in pool with Milan.
RTE News 2 just said Pats are the group stages
Pats will play one of these seeded teams as teams put into pools to prevent teams from same country playing each other.
AC Milan
Besiktas Istanbul
Spartak Moscow
Hertha BSC
Partizan Belgrade
