Not so sure about Moher making the final. I'd go for experience over youth any day and the Avenue B lads (when they have a full team) aren't exactly over the hill yet!!!

don't know about that. avenue b are finished this week and have to wait 3 weeks to play semi. moher have big games every week to stay up, so will have a major advantage.

[QUOTE=hawkeye]Olympic started quite strong with their big centre-forward winning alot of ball in the air (Why wouldn't he be after the Butt rubbing he got before the game? You really don't want to know..)

The Bridge scored the vital first and then second goal at key times in the first half (P. Mcevoy and then Own goal). Olympic went flat with the shock i think.

Bridge then totally knocked the wind out of Oly sails with 2 more quick goals from R. Moate and G.O'Connell... The game had everything with penalty appeals on either side and loads of banter from both sets of supporters, players and managers...Oh and mr halloran got his fair share of abuse.

in fairness to bridge celtic, the avenue a boys said they were the hardest team they had played all season. olympic are a fine team and were one of the best teams avenue b played. good for clare soccer if both go up. premier needs footballing teams not hackers or kickers.

If there is a winner from tonights game between Lifford and Newmarket, they will be clear favourites for the title in my thinking. Everyone disregarded Newmarket after they lost a few of there stronger lads but fair play, they stuck to it and are in with a shot. You need a slice of fortune to win the league and Newmarket seem to be getting the breaks at the minute.
Newtown and Avenue will also be a good game tonight in which we may see a stalemate to suit all other contenders. Bridge should overcome Cratloe tomorrow night but who knows what could happen in a local derby. Bridge's form is poor and Cratloe have beaten them already.
Avenue and the Bridge Sunday will be interesting. THis time next week we will know a whole lot more about the destination of the title.

well last nights game lifford newmarket draw, has really opened the door for the bridge but with bunratty and avenue after cratloe match they will be up against it to get 9 points from those games.... if they do then it should be all over.... but in fairness to clubs at the top of the premier they are really making it exciting.... if only we got proper press to highlight the closeness of the league not a couple of incoorect lines in the champion...... has the clare league seen the limerick leader which PROMOTES soccer in limerick??
not before time that we get a new newspaper in clare

Good point. Having lived in Limerick for a number of years, and been a regular reader of the Leader , it does provide a huge amount of coverage of the LL. It even has top scorer charts, photo's of teams and players, photo's of player of the year awards, etc etc. If this thread is anything to go by the there's surely enough interest for the champion to sit up and take notice!!

A few big games tonight plasticpitch. If the bridge do not win I cannot see them being up for Sundays game. I think the draw last night was good for Avenue and the bridge but it also meant that Lifford and Newmarket remained in the hunt. Will go all the way to last fixture I think. What odds on Lifford V bridge last game???

prem rep i'd say that lifford bridge game will be on the last game of the season.... no doubt that bridge's form will improve if they get a sniff of winning... its a possibility they thought their chance was gone when losing to cratloe and newtown in quick succesion but now that it has levelled off they are back in with a shout.
I really think that avenue will finish 4th... they have injuries to key players and really haven't performed at their best since newmarket match.
Bunratty know how close it is and they'd love to influence the outcome

it really is a pity..in cork they have soccer updates in the echo twice a week... just last week they played the 2nd division cup final under lights at turners cross... clare league doesn't even get mentioned in the star anymore... sligo/leitrim league has a higher profile than us
ok i can understand all the Gaa coverage but don't people realise that their are almost 40 clubs with at least one team , the vast majority that have no pitch, no changing rooms and stuggle to pay annual insurance fees ..... we should really petition the champion to get them improve their coverage!!! :ball:

Avenue: Bridge & Rineanna (H), Newtown & Moher (A)
Lifford: Bridge, Newtown (H), Rineanna & Newtown (A)
Bridge: Cratloe, Rineanna, Bunratty (H), Newtown, Lifford, Avenue (A)
Newmarket: Moher, Rineanna (H), Cratloe (A),

All very interesting really. Newmarket seem to be in the driving seat. They have the games played and points in the bag and also have 3 easier games left.

Liffords games with Newtown will be crucial. Bridge have a very tough set of games in the run-in and it will depend on their form really.

Why would they do that the paper is run unashamedly to sopport the GAA in preference to other games.
Another reason why players from Clare want to play in Limerick. What makes me laugh is if you look at a county paper that considers itself a moderately successful hurling county, say Kilkenny, where you can get All-Ireland medals in your change by mistake, they have 10 times as much soccer coverage as the CC.What are they afraid of???

Good win for Avenue last night alright. Still wide open though and 4 teams still well in it. Avenue have 3 left... Bridge, Rineanna and Moher. Bridge have a very tough set of games left but Sunday will tell a lot.

I still think Newmarket are in the driving seat with the 3 games they have remaining.

Bunratty vs Moher was poor last night. It was 3-2 at half time after some good goals and calamity defending by Bunratty. Bunratty led 1-0 thru a Con Collins deflected goal and let the lead slip straight away. Davy Ryan scored a spotter but that again was cancelled thru a gift from Bunratty defence. Paul Butler scored a cracker of a free kick to give Bunratty the winner just on half time.

Moher had a great chance to steal a point late on but Johnny Daly missed from literally 2 yards... I've never seen the likes.

Moher travelled with about 18/19 players and have some giants on their team. They fought hard and will not be and easy 3 points for anyone. They could get points yet in their relegation battle...

actually there is a new clare paper starting in the coming month or two which should improve it. the coverage is poor. shocking in fact.
for example last week avenue b were informed that they were promoted only to check a2zsoocer and see turnpike on 27pts could level with them if they won there 3 games and avenue lost theres. when avenue pressed lydon he reckons pike have 25pts and the only result query he had was pikes 3 nil win over wait for it avenue b. ( avenue won 3-0) how does he do the tables. joke. there should be leagues printed every month at least and maybe double page section on all leagues. another double for schoolboys. then this wouldn't arise and coverage would improve the game. also who deems pitches playable at the start of the year, christ ye've me started now. i won't open the can of worms as in one rule for one club another for others????????????

wesport v carew is a replay by the way

In Nottingham the amateur Leagues are printed every week alongside the fixtures and goalscorers for each Division with out fail. Both teams and the ref have to confirm all results for them to be accepted.

both newmarket and avenue have rineanna and moher left. none of these games easy. then cratloe fighting relegation won't lie down easy as bridge found out last night and bridge gunning for title. massive game sunday bridge v avenue. a 1-0 will take all points. who ever wins will win title. a draw opens it up again big time.

Not sure about that MadMick!!!!!

Anyway my tke on it is its the Fixtures secretary's decision when these playoff games are played.
Generally when a lg is fully finished the playoff would take place. Of course for the prem/1st playoff to take place the premier and the 1st divions would have to be fully finished and so on down the leagues.
Lydon plays these games as soon as he gets the oppurtunity so they are not necessarliy on the same weekend.

Extraordinary scenes at shannon olympic last night-a fight between a player and the manager. What exactly happened? :D

That was fairly funny allright. Playing away & next thing ther's a scrap breaking out on the Olympic bench between one of the subs & the manager.

Even Julian spotted it & had to go over & calm things down.

Speaking of Julian we can't have this guy reffing us again.
He's a joke.

While Olympic deserved to win the game Julian didn't do us any favours in a game which Oly will be glad they got through unscathed.

His motto is

"I won't be giving any free kicks no matter what cause I'm from Tulla & you're from Kilkishen"

Anyway best of luck to Oly B in getting promoted.
In my opinion they are the best side in Div 3 at the moment.

lifford/oldtown have the old halting site out in drumcliffe, should be ready for next year. not hard for them in view of the fact that they received a nice package to vacate our lady's pitch, sqatters rights and all that. wonder if pike and avenue have those rights. its ok for st. pats when they got the field for 1 euro off daly. in fairness to dingle his a one man band and hats off to that man for his massive effort. newmarket were the same 1 pound for the field. offer a field to any ennis team and your hand will be snapped off. down the years avenue/pike (will not include tage as they don't even own goalposts) have offered to improve pitch and were told they would be evicted if they touched it by the council. was bad enough avenue playing in ruan but how embarrising to be changing in a tayto box???????? i know that avenue have been actively seeking a pitch for the last no. of years and only 3 months ago viewed 6 acres but asking price was €250,000. not possible. in 3 years avenue will have a pitch or two with dressing rooms. avenues/pike main gripe is how are teams expected to play football in a piece of ****. pike/avenue dont even train on the main pitch, so they can keep it for games then u see muppets from kimaley, lifford, clare juniors lissycasey christ even toomevara trained on it before all-ireland semi.
lees road is open next year so you will be able to bring your shampoo and towel and enjoy the townie facilities free of charge. actually it costs €60 per adult team and €30 per underage. u get nothing for nothing!!!!!!!

Jeez Cliff will the Avenue be as passionate as this on Sunday morning when the Bridge come to town....

Well said though!!!!!

Cousin Syl, you are really trying to raise the profile of this game on Sunday!!
You can be sure that both teams will be well up for it. Crap or get off the pot for both!!

Well it is a big one.... Winner will be in a good postion for the title and the loser is possibly out of it. Draw and its still all to play for.

Lot of twists and turns left yet....you never know what way it can go. I mean who expected the 1st division decider to go the way it did last Tuesday. :D

Anyone have an idea where it will be played Sunday. I know its down for the Green but with the bad weather promised tomorrow and Saturday is there a chance it could be changed to Doora??????

Oh by the way!!!!!!!
HandyMan....Are you out there!!!!! Have not heard from you in a few days

in fairness to julian i taught he let the game flow well.ya he could have given ye a few more frees but to tell you the truth with 1 or 2 of your players abbusing him the way ye did i couldn't blame him from turning against ye..and the fact he's an english man living in tulla had nothing to do with his performance..i actually think he's one of the better refs as he's always up with the play..not like some others...thanks for your comment on us being a good team but to tell you the truth if ye got rid of them 1 or 2 bigmouths that turn refs against ye..i think ye would be further up the table...

You may be right there as it definately doesn't help. We've drawn 6 matches this year where we should have won all of them. We also lost a few we should have at least drawn but at the end of the day the table doesn't lie. We have a good defence but badly need a goalkeeper. We were missing a central midfielder & right winger yesterday & had to play our main striker(no.7) in midfield . Its always the same. Commitment is the main problem. Too many ****heads not turning up on a sunday morning & being forced to field a crap team.

With a goalkeeper, another good striker & a left winger we'd have a decent team I feel. I'd love to get a commited squad of 16 players & give Div3 a good crack next year as its there for the taking.

I may decide to move on to another team alltogether but I'll see.
Getting sick of the commute from Limerick every weekend.

What would be your opinions of the positives & negatives of the team Hacker ??

Moving on to your own team, I feel that you are definately the best team in Div 3 & you may be kicking yourselves that you've had a few bad results which look like they've cost you the league.

Ye are good at the back & very good in midfield. Strikers are where ye could improve but saying that you have scored 53 goals this season which is an excellent tally. If ye do go up you should easily stay up next season unless it goes tits up for ye.

ya them 4 games we played in 10 days took alot out of us..but thats the joys of it..i feel its going to be a good weekend for us..kilkee have to travel 3 times between friday and tuesday this week..twice to shannon and once to newmarket..while fitting a senior and a junior football match in between...could drop alot of points this weekend...

as for your own team..ye have a good defence...an average midfield and a non existing attack....don't think the goalie is that bad did nothing wrong in the 2 games against us this year..the midfield is a bit young bar fitzy..one more player with a bit off experience{paco would be ideal} would fill the gap and the younger lads would learn from this...your attack has been bad against us this year...not sure if ye were missing anyone against us but that old fella{must be about 60} the other night was just a moaner...as you say a panel of about 16 committed players is what you need...we have about 20 lads that turn up every week..good luck with next year

The keeper should have saved the 2nd goal. He let it off thinking it was going wide. Fitzy is our striker & I think he's scored something like 17 goals in 17 games this season & himself & that auld fella :D link up very well when they are together. The trouble the other night was we were missing our best midfielder & had to drop Fitzy back there which took away any goal scoring threat from us.

Must say you have a good squad. The big fella that came on upfront wasn't the easiest guy to handle & basically any of the substitutes that came on didn't appear to weaken ye at all. Best of luck against Kilkee !!

Yeah that Ould fella does make a lot of noise! Himself and the other Ould lad played against Bridge celtic B earlier on in the year and barracked the defence no end for no aparent reason...cost them the game!

Definitely, Kilkishen have an u-21 GAA match down for Sunday morning taking a few of their players...Bridge were always going to win this one anyway. Prediction; 3-1 to the away team!
