Not sure who drove the length and breath of Ireland "just to play against Oly"
The same team bar 1 played against Mntshn last Sunday. The same effort goes into every game I can assure you of that.
C'mon now, just get the 3 points(or at least 1) against bridge and we can all be friends again!!!

Anyone know if anything has been decided about Summer soccer. If it goes ahead does that mean that there is going to be a very short break between the end of this season and the start of the next or does it mean that theres going to be a very long gap ie not start next season untill Dec.

There is a delegate meeting in the Clare Inn next monday night.
If there is anything to report from that i will post it here.
I do know that Jim Madden has outlined some kind of development plan for the clubs to try & progress with facilities etc. It includes going on football administration courses etc. As far as I know this will be one of the main topics up for discussion. The other topics will probably have something to do with the number of clubs dropping out of the league & summer soccer.
I also know that the league is distraught that so many of Clare's best players are going into the LDMC to play their footie nowdays. But sur in all honesty who can blame them.
As far as I can see doing so well in the Oscar traynor over the last few years has only attracted the Limerick clubs to Clare's best players & has had a detrimental effect on the quality of the league.

Olympic A Beat Tulla A 1-0 in Shannon last night in a game that Olympic should have had more than one goal but a win is a win, not a bad result with a few of the first 11 missing, they had to sit it out through injury or flu lads that took their place played very well and Colly cap a good game with the winning goal, Tulla battled hard and at 1-0 always had a chance of a draw but in the end Olympic held out for the 3 points,

Good win well done, sets up Sunday just nicely, you could relegate Bunratty if you beat them and they do not beat Bridge Celtic, could be a fiery encounter certainly worth a visit after our game.

Yip good win, i dont think Sundays game will be anything other than a good game of football because even with the crap on the site at the end of the day we all know each other and see the funny side of it,as for what would happen if we win or bunnraty win well i think you would have to look at the whole season not just one game if they go down its not because of us and if we get 3 points they thats all it is,but we wont take it for granted and will fight as hard as we did last night to get the 3 points...but i will say people like D Jones dont deserve to go down when you see the work he puts in at the club

j&j were well marshalled by the avenue defence. they were impressed with the no10. they were getting a bit frustrated because sometimes midfield took the wrong option. ie in the second half 3 good runs down the left saw the ball whipped over to the avenue left back. i also think if olympic had been playing any other of the six teams (except maybe corofin ???) in the cup they would have won. that was a cracking display by avenue midfield so its says a lot for olympic, but do they play or can they play like that in league games????

would have been shouting for avenue b, been from ennis and all. have seen most sides in all the divisions play in the last two years and olympic are good footballing side. i'd say moher will have something to say about that and if not avenue b will rattle them. yes league dosen't lie but cup is different its a one off on the day.

true fav's have to be team from bridge/moher game. before 1/4's fav's would have been avenue a newmarket and bridge. two of those gone now. the majority on this site thought olympic would beat avenue b. i would rate olympic just as good if not better than moher and corofin. they would also rattle bridge. in one off games who knows. does anyone know when the semi's are going to be played?????? draw is on monday night.

agreed ....newtown beat them 3 times fair enough but... in fairness their pitch is shocking...its twice as wide as most pitches which doesnt really help their cause..... and just an example jonnie daly has missed most of their season ...he would be a loss to any side and i'd say that newtown and every other team were delighted not to see him tog out with moher
all clubs are better off without gaa players who just play when they have nothing else to do. league tables tell the truth no excuses.

Mountshannon are not the best footballing side in the division (imho) but are without doubt the hardest working. They chased everything and as a result won a lot of ball you would not expect them to. Kilkishen had only themselves to blame. A lack of desire and discipline let them down and they were punished at will. For the first twenty minutes, Kilkishen played most of the football but Mountshannon worked very hard. Kilkishen took the lead on twenty minutes having worked hard to break down the Mountshannon defence and at this stage looked like going on to win the game. However, two soft goals which have to go down to defensive errors meant Mountshannon led at the break. Mountshannon scored four in the second half and all four came from breaks out of defence or abysmal defensive errors by Kilkishen. Kilkishen were chasing the game for all the second half but while they always looked capable of scoring, they were far too sloppy in defending and got what they deserved. Mountshannon were worthy winners and personally, I would like to see them go up as you can only admire them for their work rate as well as everything else. No chicken balls last night but the pints flowed freely in Giblin's after the game.
Incidentally, while Mountshannon are now in a strong position to go up, having the points in the bag, I think they are at a huge disadvantage should it come to a play-off situation. It is very likely that either or both of Bridge Celtic and Olympic will reach if not exceed 35 points so Mountshannon could find themselves playing for any of the top two spots or even a promotion/relegation play-off. Other teams have 5 games to play which means a play-off is at least three weeks away. It's a long time without a game at this stage of the season and I understand Mountshannon didn't want to have their fixtures coming so quickly.

yeah, good point.........I was sure ye would take Mountshannon last night, but fair dues to them, the league table doeasnt lie. Bridge seem to be conquering all before them, lets hope we can put a spanner in their works next Tuesday night. The crucial game really is the meeting of Olympic and Bridge out in O'Briens Bridge next Tuesday night. Whoever wins that game will be in a great position to win the league. I dont think 35 points will be enough to win the league but probably enough for 2nd or 3rd. What way do the play offs go? Someone told me that goal difference hasnt counted in the past. What if two teams are joint 3rd place(or joint 3rd bottom). Would this then go to a 3 or 4-way play-off for promotion/relegation???

If teams finish level on points goal difference does not count. There is a 1 off game played to a finish at a neutral venue.
ie. If Mntshn and Kilkishen finish on 35 points and in joint 3rd they play each other in Doora, et and spotters. They winner of this game is awarded 3rd in the lg and would then play 3rd from bottom in the premier. Same situation... Doora, et and spotters and the winner plays premier next season.
p.s. no excuses for last night. Best of luck to Bridge they are a good side. I'm worried about all the kissing that went on after the game though. Team spirit is great and all but dont go too far. Can you explain Murphman
Paddy Dunne in the middle....what a joke. How can anyone enjoy a game with him at the helm. I see he flipped with Bridge managment after the game cos they broke his flag.... Some laugh. :D

I saw no kissing last night luckily but if we can keep knocking in 5 or 6 goals a game, I don't care if there is kissing and high fives.. :D
As for Paddy Dunne, the usual joke! He ruins a game, slows the game down, annoys everyone, gives decisions that no one understands and if teams are getting beat, he gives them soft goals just to make the game fair.
An example from last night, Bridge got Penalty - he placed the ball in a whole in the ground, player asked to move it out but Paddy replied "Shur your 4 goals up, you can afford to miss this and you should".??
When should a referee ever care about the oppositions scoreline??
I know before ye say it,Paddy D. is no referee..
Great game last night for the Bridge, first three goals were excellent. Trevor Howard on the left destroyed the Bunratty left with his pace.
I hope Paddy D. isn't down to ref S.Olympic and Bridge game, what a disaster that would be... he will cost a team a league title and hopefully it won't be us that will suffer..
