Good to see O'Flynn scoring against a team other than Shels.
I presume away goals count in extra time? Still 10 minutes to go. Come on Pats

Yeah, away goals count. Even Bohs' goal tonight 'counted' in a sense.
Com'on Pats, must be nearly over now?

Pat's through. Embarrassing night for Irish football, it has to be said, but at least they salvaged something and made it through.
Pats through. Lets be thanful for small mercies. Hopefully they can get past the Bosnian team in the next round!

Bohs should have given up their European place seeing as they got it by breaking the rules.
Disgrace to the league.
I suppose the one good thing is that they wont be representing Ireland in Europe for a while.

Pats did very well to go through, they deserve great credit for that, even if other LOI fans think a win on aggregate should be a foregone conclusion against IBV, that's far from the reality.
Not bad so far for the 3 Icelandic teams in the EL, 2 out of 3 go through to the next round.

No disrespect to the Icelandic teams, but Irish clubs should be doing much much better than that. Any realistic expectations of progressing as a league have to be built on easily dispossessing of teams such as IBV and Thor.

Thank god Pats went through, we have a lifeline for the country ranking. The Bohs score was an absolute disgrace.
If both went out we could have potentially looked at dropping to 37th place in europe and lose our automatic 2nd round spot for the cup winner....
I think their game against the Bosnians could end up being a little easier than IBV's.

You have to do the ground work first before you can have such expectations. These Icelandic clubs are owned/run by members and financed mainly by local business through sponsrship. Success (in relative terms) on the pitch has taken 7 years of developing coaching strategies with the youth. The foundations are solid, not one club went to the wall when the economy collapsed.

We'll get you lot next year, maybe we might have to take you more serious and not get hit when still celebrating a 2 nil win.
Not a bad effort from Pats, getting another one over on the Islanders, another aggregate win against the odds.

If anything you closed the gap slightly... But weren't good enough... Better luck next year :D

The Bosnian team Pats play in the next round won't be pushovers I'm sure, slightly higher team ranking and league co-efficient, but their league season doesn't start until the beginning of August, so hopefully that will give Pats a nice edge.

Siroki are a serious outfit, lots of money in the area (a wartime leader has hold of a number of industries in the area - as well as a regional leader in logistics). Still should see Pats do well.

Fair play to Pat's. Despite hoping for the best for Bohs, it's probably no surprise they've crashed out of Europe early yet again. They've a young squad in fairness. Still though, once Derry were refused entry, last night's sorry result was on the cards. We need our best teams in Europe. Bohs are not one of them. I don't mean to put salt into sore wounds both I hope Bohs are not representing our country in Europe anytime soon. They have an awful track record in Europe in recent years and have done nothing for the league. Good luck for them in the future though.

Pats are the higher ranked team but thats due to results earned by us over the past 5 years. Bosnia is the stronger league (with higher co-eff)

Still doesn't make them better teams. Irish teams should still be dispossessing of Icelandic teams with relative ease in my opinion.

IMO Derry would have been knocked out too. maybe wouldnt have shifted 5 goals but they are not up to much and seem to have a squad of about 12 players.

Jebus, when they were three down didn't they think of parking the bus and keep it respectable .... that is a seriously bad result fo LOI, dismal stuff altogether.

There are 3 professional LOI clubs in Europe. They should all do well over the coming weeks.

You want them to park the bus at 3-1? I think I'd stop watching football if Pats did that. Bohs don't owe Cork or Pats fans anything in Europe. As if 3-1 is 'respectable'??

Humiliating a night as it was for Bohs, and taking into account the young inexperienced we fielded, I do think the result is areflection on the relative standard of the league at present.

How? Pats progressed past a much superior team on the same night. They're more a reflection of the league than a poor Bohs side.
