yes, id like to leave this to Derry - not what happened years ago ar what might happen next.

Anyone know what the delay is?
Stu the problem could be that Derry have a rite to appeal any decision from the FAI and with the play offs on tuesday they could be deciding how to rectify this mess

I honestly don't know why you're so worked up on me dismissing the comparison between Shels and Derry. I'm posting here to get the latest news on Derry, not to have a meaningless argument about comparing two League of Ireland clubs.

Well then don't make stupid comments comparing the loyalty of the supporters of 2 league of Ireland clubs. The 900 or so Shels fans that attend most home games since our demmotion are as loyal as any in the league.

Their figure for Pats was way, way, way off.
Aw hell, you guys were making extra payments under the counter too? ;)

cheers - i didnt think about that.

By the way, this isnt schadenfreude. I genuinely feel for Derry and despite the slaggings we get into here yours is a city, team and fans that i have a lot of time for.

My interest is purely in seeing how the FAI deal with this.

Best of luck to all derry lads here in the future, whatever happens.

If they start digging at finances there might be a lot of things to find.

Derry can't have booby-trapped it, right? Padraig Smith could be left shredded by paper cuts, the entire FAI board wiped out by a rogue capitalization of earnings...

Probably the best approach is to call a press conference when a decision is reached, unless they wanted 15 soccer journo's out of action all day....hmmm... :D

It's part of their conspiracy to keep Derry in the Premier.

When there's no journos around to report on the First Division matches tonight, the FAI will use the lack of match reports to convinvce people that the First Division doesn't exist and never did. They'll claim the only way to punish Derry is to give them a big, pointless points deduction.

This is very unfortunate and the collapse of two main sponsors is something no club should have to budget for. Personally I'm very sad their existence in the league has come to such a terrible end, and I hope that they will back some way in the future.

If they're good boys they'll get into the First. If not, it's the A League. Could all be irrelevant anyway in the long run.

Not demoted, out of the league. Presumably they'll now fold the company and a new one will apply for the A League. If so, two points to note:

They're too late to do so this year, but might get an exception made. Oh, and if they got a 1st division licence, and there was space...
There could be some jurisdictional problems with the IFA.

If you had been following the thread (was way back in fairness) you would be aware that the sponsorship excuse for "just a smokescreen" according to MariborKev, who knows what he's talking about. Nevertheless, they have been sanctioned for having "second illegitimate contracts with players".

Tony O'Donoghue saying FAI contract terminated but Derry may yet play in the first division next season.

Would be terrible to lose them altogether.
