casilles
27/08/2010, 4:09 PM
Thats interesting actually casilles. Do people on here think its possible for teams to keep up to 16,17 or 18 players interested?
I think its very tough for city teams that have only one team.
Its easier for teams with a B team as they can bring players up as needed and i reckon its easier for non city teams as quite often people are playing for their parish so they get more loyalty.

I reckon you cannot keep 18 players happy if those 18 players are relatively close in ability.

hi pacman been along time since we have spoke!

I agree that it is tough to sustain a big squad, espically with there been over 30 teams between O Neill Park to Mayfield Park, players who are left out for 2/3 weeks will most likely look to move . Big numbers at the moment but i do believe you need the competion to challenge.

On the subject of parish teams i do also agree, you only have to look at leeside kinsale park all have B teams if not C! also in terms of facilities it seems better too. 1 club in the town with everyone pulling together.

Whats the ruling on this i thought when you sign for one team and play for them you can only change teams after a transfer its not fair to be honest and should be changed......

Greenwood 1-1 Bohemians..........Very tough game today played on what is probably the worst football pitch in the AUL, only pitch i ever played on where you play up a hill in each half!!!.......Trying to control the ball on that pitch was near impossible a bumpy hard hard pitch!
To the game o-o at half time not much chances but in the 2nd half it opened with both sides hitting the woodwork we scored a soft an enough goal on 65 straight from a free kick and conceeded in 75 min, a defensive mix up but in the end draw was fair result
So thats 4 points for us and another tough game expected when the boys from Kanturk visit the Fairfield on Tuesday night

A.U.L. 2A

Thursday 26th August - Millstreet Celtic 4 Killowen 0

Saturday 28th August - Killowen 1 Rylane Celtic 1.

We will start with Thursday- midweek games are always tough with with players working until 5.30 -6.00 or in some cases not available. We got to Millstreet for 6.25 although two of our squad didn't arrive until 6.35. Barely enough time to get changed let alone go through a proper warm up. We did o.k. in the first half and it was 0-0 at the break. However we gifted Millstreet four goals in the second half courtesy of some crazy mistakes. We did hit the bar from a set piece and had a number of half chances but no complaints as we got what we deserved.

Saturday afternoon was a different story, a big improvement on Thursday nights display. We passed the ball well and showed great battling qualities against a physically strong Rylane side. We had a lot of possession but didn't test the Rylane 'keeper until very late in the game. Unfortunately we conceded a very soft goal after 70 minutes but kept probing and got a deserved equaliser two minutes from time.

I was at the game and i thought village were a far cry from previous years and ye fully deserved the win. I think village took other intrests when they looked out of the game and it cost them a man.
Since somewhere around 2001/2002 wnen coming runners up in 1 A village have been in the top 2 divisions (Prem & Prem A) with Kanturk a league or 2 behind (with the exception of 2 years ago).
This being said how could village be yer "Bogey team"?
Maybe its the "Village B" team your talking about?

Bohemians 1-1 Kanturk......................Good game played up in the Fairfield where both sides went at each other hard but fairly i must say, a bit of hand bags towards the end but we ll get over that!
To the game even enough first half Kanturk started the first 15 better but thought we came into more after that battled hard and created a great chance after about 25mins but the Kanturk keeper pulled off a superb safe from our centre forwards half volley
2nd half thought we wer the better side Kanturk did miss a great chance though to go 1 up but we scored a good goal after 65 mins from our new signing Deccie Gostal....
I thought we were comfortable enough till kanturk broke with about 7 mins to go and scored a header bad defending from us to be honest game fizzled out towards the end but i think Kanturk were lucky enough to take a point of us tonight Donaldihno you might disagree but i think ye got a shock up there tonight at how good we can be .............

Anyway back to the football, well battle!you got it spot on there, but i think we deserved a point!
There wasnt too many chances from both sides!I thought it looked a 0-0 to be honest!

Well Lads, 2 games to report on.

4-4 with Glenthorn. Echo says it all!! 1 up early and having more of the game. Down to 10 men & pen equaliser on 30. Still doing ok, we went 3-1 up and looked like seeing it out. 3 bad goals and we had to equalise.

4-2 tonight V Castleview. 2 up early against a strong wind. 3-1 up, 3-2 and 4-2. Only ok again. Castleview compleltely different side than las year. Recognised 1 or 2. All young guys now. Decent side who will only get better.

Still in with an outside shout of the quarters with a game to go - thats all you can ask. We beat Leeside, Castleview beat Park............nice price the double!!

As boo would say.....we dunno if we will put out our Bs or Cs or U12's against Leeside......looking forward to the game.

Overall so far, we are disapointed with some of the goals we have conceded but its the defence that were the meanest in Prem A last season so we will be ok. We have a front 5 in good form so happy enough there.

Prem A teams so far in ML (no offence meant:)

Kilumney looking strong
Glenthorn only ok
Village only ok
Pearse some good results
Gwood only ok
Blackstone ok
Bohs good results
Castleview good young side
Kanturk strong
Leeds improving

Village didnt have 1 player playing 4 mayfield in that city final.

In recent years Village had many players involved with Mayfield Gaa, more recently Terry Lotty, Stephen Hackett and Jamie O'Donovan all played with both, but those 3 guys are now playing down Leeside or "Paradise" as Boo calls it.
Hope this clears things up.......

well fruice we have had 2 or 3 new players but more of less stll the same team,, i think winning the cup last season in div 3A and gettin now where in the leaguse really hurt the lads, so we feel this is the year for Grattan B as for ballincollig if you get stuck in and play ball on the ground ye will have them ... they had the game in pocket for the first 15mins last and then we ran the show scoring 4 goals before the break with Steven gostle 3 and Donal Lyons 1 annd after the break i must have seen one of the best goals in junior football Donal lyons with a 30 yard shot into the top hand Corner of the net no way the keeper was saving it !!!! and ballincollig got one back so as i said play football against them and they wont like it

Alright lad playing with macroom myself havent been on in a while.
We are struggling at the moment cause there is no consistency in the squad, fellas going on hols coming home, injuries etc but there not excuses, The teams we have put out shouldnt be losing or nevermind conceding 4! Remember an understrength Kinsale had already qualified before this game was played and there was a lot of experimenting with personnel and systems during this game.

We still created much more chances and won the game deservedly (IMO).
Pearse tried to play football but were not let on the night.
I was impressed with Pearse and they will do very well in their division but are short a few players needed to beat the top premier teams ... at the moment (IMO).

As for Pearse playing the pretty football...
Arsenal won the league a few years back from ManU...
Ferguson said "at least, we are the most attractive team in the league"...
Wenger came back to him with "we all think our own wives' are the prettiest"...:D

Some quality reffing from Aidan O'Regan - allowing good advantages and booking players after the move had finished. Good to see him back in our league.
Also Pat Murphy is a top ref and is an assset to the AUL. He did well in our game versus Coachford even though he gave a pen and a red card against us (both correct decisions IMO).
Andy Mylod (?) is a good ref also and should be doing Prem games.
There should be more praise on this forum for the refs when they do well.
Who decides which ref does each division?

Anyway enjoy the season, and may the best team win?
even if they are not the prettiest? haha

as reguards referees i totally agree with your comments on them, the 3 you mentioned are first class,,i do however think that mr o reagan is getting a raw deal from fixture sec, he should be doing prem and premier a games ,some of the games he has been given are a disgrace.he is a former league of ireland ref and top class ,.

Yes I agree wit you on the referee part he was top drawer and good to both teams.....We were missing a few players ourselves, 2 defo starters and had we had dem wudda being a lot different I feel..Short a few players ??? only for a goalkeeping mistake in the last minute we would have beating coachford and deservedly too their prem right?? and its not like ye out played us far from it yere chances came from yere goal keeper taking yere frees from jus inside yere own half and lobbing it in on top of our keeper the only chance ye created from open play ye scored in fairness but it was shocking defending from us and a good finish from yere forward... Best of luck for the season anyway and less of the ball in d air you'll get a pain in ur neck ha

Knockraha 1-2 Springfield

2 Andy Hogan goals were enough to give us a win up in Knockraha last night to end what was a very impressive unbeaten run. It was a good fair game played in great conditions. We went 2 up with a few minutes to play and then they got 1 back to make it an uncomfortable last couple of minutes. However, we managed to hold out and the win put us top of the league with Carrigtwohill ahead of Knockraha by a point. From that point of view it was a massive game. If we had lost we would have fell 5 points behind and it would be an up-hill battle all season to claw back those points. Our junior team won 1-0 as well so its happy times down in Cobh.

Long may it continue.

Gents, best if we dont mention refs by name on the forum. Remember we decided on that last year.
Random strangers calling me Horse...........so still lots watching!

AUL have given us what we asked for, a pathway to give our opinion on the performance of Referee's performance if we think it can help. Write into Martin Conlon. As the Leeside rep said at the meeting, send in regarding the good ones too. Lets give it a chance and see if it works

I must admit, we were disapointed in all 3 of our games and most pre-season games too! A high percentage of incorrect calls for both sides.

In one of our games, one of the aforementioned good refs booked an opposition player. 82 minutes gone, result was probably a foregone conclusion. Their guy went for a normal tackle, a second late, no harm done, both guys shook hands and that should have been the end of it. Why book the guy? Why charge him a fiver? Is it upto the refs to consider the money?
