Just back from Bridesmaids. Excellent fun. Everything has been said before. Still trying to figure out what the story was with Chris O'Dowd's accent?
The addition of Wilson Phillips was a great touch. As was embarrassing my girlfriend singing along! Oh yeah. I'm just that cool.

Also anyone seen the latest Transformers? Supposedly is ****e.First ten minutes are excellent, next hour drags, last hour is amazing action
Fox's replacement does little else other than pout and look good in clothes, some nice nods and winks to other franchises
Better than second, not as fun as the first. solid 7/10

Saw both recently...
I gave my opinion on transformers already so i wont repeat it.

But i enjoyed The Guard. Some genuine laugh out loud moments and generally funny throughout. Times you feel like they were trying a little too hard but all in all a good film.
That said you definitely dont need to go cinema for it, also It doesn't portray us in a good light as a nation but you need to be able to take the p*ss outta yerself eh?

The Ordeal.Old folks entertainer in Belgium is travelling to do a gig when his van breaks down in the middle of nowhere, friendly inn keeper offers to help him but does the exact opposite.Let's just say him (Inn keeper)or the locals haven't seen a woman in a while.(In French with subtitles)Totally weird 8.5/10.

The Cave.Set under a church in Romania where they discover underground waterways, starts off like a great movie but the horror is a bit tame and it goes on a bit 6/10.

Death Of A Ghost Hunter,Paranormal investigator offers to check out a haunted house for $5000 but gets a bit more than she bargained for,the acting is terrible but there are some really good shocks in it,if there were proper acting it would be a 9 or 10 but instead 7/10.

Dorothy,A girl about 14 babysitting a child is suspected of assaulting the baby but is possibly possessed, somebody tries to find the truth, set in Ireland. It's no blockbuster but I liked it-8/10.

The Descent Part 2,takes up where the other one ended, some good scares 7/10

Triangle.Girl gets shipwrecked off a pleasure boat and ends up on a big ship but things get very odd after a while, will keep you guessing 7.5/10

The Crazies ,Zombies with a difference, take over a small town with devastating results, great entertainment.8.5/10

Midnight Meat Train ,Vinny Jones  is a silent traveller on the underground train system with a briefcase and the name of the film is totally apt,for gore fans 8/10 if you don't like gore don't go near this movie.

That Wikipedia description pretty much sums it up,not for the faint hearted but the scene where Bartell goes to the local pub to tell the lads to leave his "wife" alone is brilliant as they all start dancing like penguins when he leaves the room :D

Watched the Guard the other day, great show. One of the best films of the year so far and Brendan Gleeson is fabulous in it. One of the best opening scenes to a movie I have seen in a long time. 9/10

On the contrary watched Bridesmaids too and I thought it was shockingly bad. Terry Crews got a 2 minute role when that man deserves a whole film to himself. Chris O'Dowd was wasted in it and alike Bonnieshels struggling to figure out what was up with his accent. 2/10

Horrible Bosses - It has some very funny moments but overall maybe it tries a bit too hard and is a bit too self aware. On the plus side Jennifer Aniston is looking better than ever. It's another one that's worth a watch but no need to rush down to the cinema, it'll make a good DVD or telly box film. 6.5/10

The Lovely Bones - Caught this on TV the other night, apart from a few moments I thought it was pretty poor. Didn't like the narration or the sequnces set in the "inbetween" or whatever it was called. It was like a pretty average episode of Criminal Minds with a rubbish ending and an irritating narrator. 4/10

I rented a movie called "Surveillance" starring Bill Pullman and Julia Ormond, I got suckered in by some of the blurbs on the dvd cover, and didn't bother to check Metacritic. This movie has to go on my top ten worst list, it was plain awful, convoluted, hammy acting, just terrible, not even any redeeming gratuitous nudity. Directed, and partly written by Jennifer Lynch, daughter of David Lynch, who hasn't inherited any of his talent.

"Limitless",Flavour of the month Bradley Cooper plays a bit of a bum in New York whom takes a drug that enables him to use 100% of his brain, this suddenly changes his appearance and his investment prowess with dramatic effect.Things don't go straightforward though as complications set in,Robert De Niro phones in his performance yet again but the film is nevertheless entertaining.8/10

First time in a long time I've cried with laughter in the cinema. Ok not all the gags work but that's always going to be an issue transferring from the TV to the big screen. There's some absolutely inspired scenes that you'd have to be dead inside not to find funny. The characters have always been the key to the Inbetweeners success for me and it's the same with the film, I think everyone can identify characteristics of themselves or their friends or acquaintances in the 4 lads and they hold true. I reckon everyone's bumped into a "Richard" at some point too. If you didn't like the TV series steer well clear, if you did then make sure you get out and see this.

Technically all films not made in Ireland are foreign films but I know what you mean. Hollywood films are often to glossed over and for the vast majority of them they always have to write a love interest into the film even if there was none in any original book, play etc

But surely there is as much rubbish made in France, Spain, Germany, Australia and so on as there is in Hollywood. We are just more exposed to what comes out of the states than we are with what is produced on elsewhere?

The Change-Up, two friends switch bodies, one is married in a hum drum life, the other kind of just getting along. I'd hoped it was going to be at least a little funny, but I think I laughed twice and even then it was forced. I'd not read a whole lot about it before watching, but expected something from Jason Bateman who seems to be in vogue again. Ryan Reynolds I like (Best Friend was very, very good with 2 hot female leads), but he was dull in this. Kind of a case of, nothing to see here with everything turning out as predicted the whole way through. I think they just didn't know what kind of movie they wanted. 1/10

Watched a film last night called Tokyo Sonata, a great little Japanese character study about a father who loses his job and the effect it has on his family. Very relevant theme in today's society. It's great to get away from run of the mill Hollywood films and watch some films of a different culture where the emphasis is more often than not on the characters rather than the effects.

Saw a couple of movies this weekend - thanks to having no money and poor weather.

The Guard - I don't know why there were some scathing reviews of it in the Irish media, I really enjoyed it. It was a bit ott at times, but the pace was good, it was original, had some nice twists and there was solid acting from most of the cast. I can see why it's done so well abroad as it just keeps itself on the sane side of funny. Also the luvvie brigade at home won't go for it as it's one for the Omniplex of a Sunday night when you need something to forget about a new week starting. 7/10

The Devils Double - Now this got good reviews, was praised as being gritty and solid, with good acting. I began to switch off my brain half way through as it was almost a 1940's propaganda film. I'm looking forward to the one about Gaddafi where he's running around London with rocket launchers trying to take down Aer Arann planes. The whole movie went nowhere and was a real let down. 2/10 (I'll be generous as there were some nice scenes from Malta and for a nice scene about what happened to sports people who failed - if only we could institute something in Ireland for underperforming sportstars).

"Insidious",a family move into a new home and it starts off like a possessed house type of film but it turns out it's not the house that's haunted as they discover when they move house yet again, entertaining enough horror 7/10.

"The Children",I have to say I was expecting more from a film with a theme like this,2 families have a christmas together in a remote snow bound house and the kids decide that it's not going to be a merry Xmas for the adults, maybe I had too high expectations having read the reviews but I was disappointed.5/10

Friends With Benefits

Mila Kunis is incredible. That's about all you need to know to make this worth seeing. I'm a bit of a sucker for a rom-com too and despite setting out to subvert the genre somewhat it does end up pretty much reverting to type. It's good natured and funny enough to hold the interest. Timberlake can be a bit irritating but he's bearable. Oh and did I mention Mila Kunis? Only disappointment is she used a body double for the naked ass shot.

7/10 for the film. 10/10 for Mila.

"Blitz"-Cop flick, with Paddy Considine, Mark Rylance, Jason Statham,,,, avoid, avoid, avoid.... why do actors with some serious acting credits(with the exception of Statham) sign up for these types of movies? Money, I guess, but this movie is so hare-brained and dumb that it diminishes the work they've done elsewhere. I couldn't even begin to explain the silliness of this movie, so I won't, just avoid it.( I got suckered by a blurb again)

"Attack The Block",horror/comedy movie that has a Shaun Of The Dead feel about it but without the zombies though,a small alien lands in the middle of a tough flat complex in London and ends up being killed by the local gang of 15 year old scobies, the small alien though is only the precursor for the bigger aliens who soon arrive to cause havoc in the area.

Loads of holes in the plot but who cares considering the subject matter, can't say I knew any of the cast bar Nick Frost (not a huge part considering),but enjoyable escapism for horror/gore fans. 7.5/10

watched Four Lions last night. I thought it was excellent. 8/10.

Four Lions tells the story of a group of British jihadists who push their abstract dreams of glory to the breaking point. As the wheels fly off, and their competing ideologies clash, what emerges is an emotionally engaging (and entirely plausible) farce. In a storm of razor-sharp verbal jousting and large-scale set pieces, Four Lions is a comic tour de force; it shows that-while terrorism is about ideology-it can also be about idiots.

"Yeah, f*ck mini-babybels."[/
