But I think the wrong player got booked. The replay seems to show the defender pushing greene into the jump of the keeper, but it's the keeper that got done.

Pat's will pocket €1.28m in UEFA prize money according to RTE! Good return on the Stephen Kenny investment already!

€3.26 million minimum for Rovers if they win this...

Unbelievable stuff from Pats. Not much noise on here from the lads that were gloating at Kenny being supposedly past it and Pats being stuck with him on a long term deal now is there? ;)

It was reported on the 42 and a few of the papers this week as €1.65m

Jesus the Celje lad just ran straight through the middle of the pitch. They’d wanna tighten that up.

Rovers should really have done better there. They had loads of men back yer yet man got a free volley from about 8 yards.
Christ and they almost conceded another. Dan Cleary was sent to the shops there.

They just can’t keep a clean sheet in matches.

Pohls coming 30 yards outta goal to play passes is the last thing I wanna see. Heart attack territory that.

Couple of other notable games this evening -

Larne into extra time after losing 1-0 at home to Ballkani of Kosovo. Edit - gone to penalties now

Slash Wroclaw had three players sent off and went out to a 108th minute winner - that's the 18th minute of injury time. Their third red was four minutes later

Three red cards for Hapoel Beer Sheva too, with two of those in injury time as well

CSKA Sofia held a one-goal aggregate lead against Pafos of Cyprus - while down to ten men since the 45th minute - until the 97th minute. So it went to extra time and they conceded three more

And Ajax beat PAOK 13-12 after 17 penalties each. Four successive sudden death penalties were missed in that one, and three more in a row right at the end before Ajax's winner. Bryan Brobbey missed twice

And Ajax with the win 13-12. That was crazy.

15 for Rovers to go…

That should be that. Suicide defending from Celje. Great pressing from Rovers though. They've shown a lot of fight tonight. Contriving to sit deep most of the second half inviting the inevitable equalizer, and then regrouping completely and being the stronger team heading down the stretch.

That's the end of that - Rovers will be breaking even this year and Shels probably delighted they've the title won :p

Hang on and the cup issue will soften! PAOK next up? Slash Wroclaw - great name for some apocalyptic movie character never mind a fooball club that loves its red cards. Will be a big missed opportunity for Larne.

That's a bit mad

I see Wisla Krakow v Trnava is also into a second round of penalties. 10-10 after 12 kicks each

Edit - finished 12-11. A Trnava player missed twice, mirroring Brobbey for Ajax (who at least won)

I personally didn't give them much chance tonight after what I felt was an awful performance last week, pitch and weather notwithstanding. Glad to be proven wrong. Much the better side tonight.

Some evening for the League of Ireland for what seemed a non vintage year. Rovers into the Europa League playoffs with the safety net of Conference League group stage. Pat's into the Conference League playoffs. It's been a while since non champions have gone that far.

Larne v Lincoln Red Imps for a place in the groups.

I was in Slovenia in June and was chatting about football with a local (who asked did I know the LoI actually has a college team in it? I said yes, I did...!) and he said Ireland was a proper football country compared to Slovenia, which had big problems getting people interested in the league (on top of being a much smaller country to start with)

These seem the kind of games the LoI should be winning much more often. The potential is there but we shoot ourselves in the foot too often.

But but tonight at least (just about!) Well done Rovers and Pat's

So how much € did Rovers make from winning EL Q3 and what does making the Conference group stages entitle them?
