My guess would be O'Flynn to Cobh (if he plans to play on). This is only a hunch, but I think we'll take a punt on Kenny.

Tobi Adebayo Rowling signs

Tobi Adebayo-Rowling promoted from Cork City reserves to Cork City. I'm kidding but we do sign a stupidly high amount of players from Sligo. Is he any good Sligo fans?

I doubt it. I’d say Kenny to Cobh also. Really good first divison player.

Are Sligo due compensation for ‘yer man Tobi’ then?

He was excellent in 2016 for us. Thought he was the best right back in the league. Poor enough last season and a very poor attitude in general. Won’t be missed but talent is there.

I believe there's a video out there, of him preforming at his best ;)

Not too upset to see the back of Tobi as he can blow hot and cold. Good potential but is a bit daft to say the least. But I have to say Caulfield is really an annoying tit. He obviously has no scouting connections at all. Just waits to see who we unearth and signs them the following season. Mind you he has taken a couple of duds as well. ****.

Letting ye take the risk and then getting the rewards seems a good plan to me.

Shamelessly knicked from Twitter

Caulfield has now signed a starting XI from Sligo Rovers

Gledhill
Tobi Beattie Folan Davoren
Djilali Keohane Sadlier Gaynor
Campion Elding

Population of Cork far greater than Sligo so Tobi's film career should take-off big time.
On the football field however, has lots of talent but a terrible attitude, and appears to rebel against discipline by just doing nothing.
Also likes the nightlife regardless of football obligations.

What was all the talk of Cork losing a player to Dundalk? Was it a late change of mind or what? Also, will Bolger's departure be considered a loss or was it inevitable in recent weeks?

El-Pietro

We've known Bolger is leaving since mid season. He and McCormack play in a similar position and prior to the cup final were unable to fulfill those roles concurrently. Bolger is class. McCormack is better. Bolger is too good and too expensive to sit on the bench. We could bring in another midfielder on much less money and have more flexibility throughout.
Karl Sheppard has made Stephen "I'm not going to lie to you" Kenny look very silly by changing his mind and deciding to stay in Cork. Kenny all but confirmed he had signed Shep in the build up to the cup final, in a clear attempt to unsettle our preparations, while at the same time accusing us of a lack of class. Whether these comments affected Sheps decision or money played a part or some combination we don't know, but it's very very sweet.

I was blissfully unaware of all of it. I was surprised to see Bolger on the bench so often in recent weeks. He had the look of someone who was heading off to pastures new.

I was surprised ye're manager persisted with Sheppard in the advanced attacking role for so much of the last third of the season. Getting Sheppard to sign is as deft a touch as Campion's control in getting the extra time equaliser!

Shep is wasted up front.hes the best wide player in the league. Hopefully next season hell be back out wide

I'd say sweeter for Sheppard also, rumour that his new contract is worth €1,500 a week with accommodation paid (digs would be standard). Heard the offer from Dundalk was €1,300. He's done well out of this.

El-Pietro
07/11/2017, 10:58 PM
And I heard Kenny offered him a trip in my posts spaceship. We have a solid foundation and John Caulfield had a strict budget. He can spend as much of that as he likes on individual players, he'll find a way to make it stretch to a very competitive squad again. A serious wage came off the books today in Bolger.

oriel
08/11/2017, 8:06 AM
Wages will balance out all the time with players coming and going, that's part and parcel of every club, I still think Sheppard did very well out of this in his two year deal as he would obviously have got an increased deal, if it is 1.5k per week, that's still a lot of money for one player.

Dlk may be disappointed with how this panned out and a pre contract agreement may also have been in place, but he changed his mind and he made his choice, and that's just that.

You're hardly eluding to Sadlier here?

Tobi's a decent full back but has no brain, on or off the pitch.

Rovers offered him a paltry deal meaning Cork had to pay compensation of about €15k. Great deal for Rovers.

El-Pietro
08/11/2017, 10:28 AM
Sadlier scored the winning goal but hasn't gotten much attention. The cup heroes have really been Nults and Achille. Shepp as well for the assist and scoring his pen even though he was injured.
To get compensation you would have had to at least match what he was already being paid, and you'd have to officially offer it about 2 months before the season ended. You can't offer them a pay cut and still get that compensation.

I know. He wasn't on big money in Sligo. He's now on nearly double what he was getting up here.

Pretty excited about this one. He needs a haircut but hes a proper footballer. If we're bringing him in instead of Bolger then we've done well. He doesn't need to be as good as Greg to be more useful to us. We have way more flexibility in there with McCormack, Morrissey, McNamee and Buckley, you could imagine most of those filling different roles depending on what is necessary, while Bolger could only play in one position.

Still need two central defenders and one striker minimum but already CCFC looking to have improved exponentially in comparison to Dundalk and Rovers.

Have you seen McNamee play?? He's much more attacking than McCormack, Morrissey, Buckley or Bolger. Totally different type of player. He's more like Sheppard. Does his best work either as a wide player or as a no10.

I have., though obvisouly only a handful of times a season at best. My point is that Greg can only play one position. McNamee is definitely more attacking, but are you saying he definitely couldn't do a job alongside McCormack if Gearoid was out? Or alongside Gearoid when McCormack is definitely suspended for accumulating yellow cards. I think this signing is a big one, and improves our starting XI, but also our squad depth. Buckley for example is our current number 19, but hes played at the base of our midfield on occasion.

Cork have indeed improved their squad on the second half of this season. They should be targeting a mid-table finish now I'd say

Some fans of yours been at it non stop since the league win. A long with that, Karl Sheppard went from been average and no loss, to a great wind up merchant and a big re-signing and great business by Cork in the eyes of some cork fans. Not painting them all but there’s a fair whack on them online. I had a Cork fan go and text via WhatsApp about Dundalk straight after the cup final and not about the win 🙄🙄🙄

And since when have 100% of fans not included some idiots? We have the biggest following in the country, so of course some idiots will raise their heads. This is surely not a surprise. It happened with Sligo, Pats and Dundalk in previous years too.

A city fan said Sheppard was average? I don't doubt there's a couple of clueless people in any fan base but there's no way in hell that was a majority view.
