If we want one of you're players, we'll fu**in get one of your'e players, and theres nothing boez can do about it, as you well know;)
Thus spake the third place colossus.!
You must be due for one of your coat trailing signings from us alright, might help you improve on your one point out of twelve haul against us this season.?

Would be a good experiment. How many of your players do they need to sign before they can beat ye?

Watts was an excellent signing but he was really a Leicester player. If we want to challenge we need to be shopping higher then 6th or 7th loi. A proven striker is a priority. The young bohs striker looks good but apart from him can't see anything at bohs. And he's only potential at the end of the day. We need to get lucky like cork with Maguire as I don't think any loi club has the money to sign a good proven striker.
Results this season against bohs were brutal but it's points everywhere we need to pick up and that won't happen enough without a 20 goal striker

Dylan Watts is probably the only footballer in the current Rovers squad signed from Bohs.
That's unless you also count Pico Lopes and Luke Byrne as footballers

If entire squads were swapped but managers were not Bohs would just bag 12 points and a batter of goals in the Dublin cup final.

This would be the pico and watts that scored up in oriel last time out :)
Next year will be interesting with ucd a good bet to do well and harps being stronger than limerick the relegat ion battle will be interesting. If the results go the other way nextvseason bohs are in a battle to stay up.

Except he wasn't signed from Bohs.
That would be a decent slag if it wasn't well established by now that you know absolutely f**k all about what makes a good footballer.
There's a long standing tradition of Rovers signing Bohs brightest prospects, it's mostly due to Rovers being full time more often than Bohs throughout history, sure the 4 in a row team basically used Bohs as its youth team.
Edit: You're also forgetting Brandon Kavanagh

My point is bohs best player or upcoming prospect is one thing but a team that would have been in a relegation battle without our help this year is not where we need to be shopping.

you mean like Shane Supple was a "done deal" last year ? Sure it's the reason you didn't need to get a decent keeper until the 16 year old came along - how did that work out for you ?
the sham "project" - if you can't beat them buy them 😉 And how's that worked out for you shams ? 😎

Seriously pal you been drinking? All that was said was Watts was a Leicester player not a Bohs player not that Rovers spotted him before he went to bohs, though everyone in the league and their dog knew about him way before Bohs even thought about getting him on loan, he was a 17 year old signed by the premier league champions after impressing in Europe, not like yous found him on the streets.

Lol ...bitter or what. The 16 year old worked out great, for him and the club. The projects going great as well.

I agree. Please proceed.
Clarke and Kavanagh were both signed as wingers. It'll be interesting to see who's kept on next year, my preference would be to keep all 3 and play Kavanagh or Clarke as a winger ank keep luke as a backup left back/left sided centre back of a back 3.
So your 2 left wingers are also 2 of the best left backs in the country? And with your only signed left back you actually have 3 of the best left backs in the league. Wow. That’s a stroke of luck.

It was a restrained and understated claim in the first place.
Aaron Greene has also played Left Back, as has Joey O'Brien. So the list is really extensive - maybe the claim could be as many as eight classy left backs at Rovers if you also include Brandon Kavanagh and the young underage fella whose name escapes everyone

Pretty restrained to say Trevor Clarke is an exceptional left full and Sean kavanagh has been excellent potm last month. But don't let that stop you from having a go. I presume you don't disagree with Jarvis and mountney

I think Trevor Clarke is a very exciting player and is probably an accidental full back. Seán Kavanagh has impressed and is clearly a decent player, although I have mainly seen him on the left side of midfield.
Some of the other Rovers galacticos left backs mentioned vary between dire (Gilchirst) and inconsistent (Byrne) or are in the has-been (O'Brien) or unproven (Brandon Kavanagh / the fast under 19 whose name you don't know) category
John Mountney is a midfielder and doesn't play left back, although both Dean Jarvis and Dane Massey have competed strongly with each other for the regular left back spot at Dundalk this season

Why is Brandon Kavanagh being judged as a left back. He has only ever played right midfield for us.

Luke Byrne has barely played over the past couple of seasons and is arguably the third choice left back for a side in a ten team league, probably a bit of a stretch to say he's one of the best in it when you'd probably have to have at least seven others over him off the top of my head (Clarke/Kavanagh/Massey/Jarvis/Bermo/Griffin/Leahy). Hope he turns it around all the same as it's a shame that he's had such bad luck in the last few years.

There are some other decent left backs around - Waterford have two of them in Garry Comerford and Dylan Barnett; Regan Donelan at Sligo and Kevin Lynch at Bray also; Jack Doyle at Derry was excellent before his loan spell concluded. I don't know much about the first division, but Conor Kane at Drogheda was impressive in the single game I saw.

Did I say they were our two left wingers or that they were signed as wingers? Between you and Ez you should just about be able to work that one out. Players can play multiple positions too.

How does one become an accidental full back now? Can you even point to one game you've seen him play midfield since Trevors injury?
You're the only one who's mentioned Gilchrist. O'briens has been now is he? And Brandon Kavanagh is a full back? Thats some serious ****e to be coming out with even by your standards Ez.
The U19 is Abulu btw.

Yes - against Dundalk in Oriel Park a couple of weeks later.
Luke Byrne started left back (he was useless) and Seán Kavanagh was selected on the left side of midfield (he had a decent game)
That was the match where Dan Carr scored the first goal of the season that Dundalk conceded in the league

Did that take you the full hour to Google or just part of it? You'll surely remember so that Miele came on for Byrne in that game and Kavanagh played even better from full back.

Stop digging.
You asked about games that I've seen where Kavanagh played in midfield.
For what it is worth I have seen Shamrock Rovers play 5 times against Dundalk this season (Rovers won once, drew once and were beaten three times) - Trevor Clarke didnt play in any of them
Luke Byrne played left back in four of these, the exception being the last league game, which is the only one where Sean Kavanagh was selected at Left back. He started in midfield in the 5-2 mauling in Tallaght and in the 2-1 Dundalk win in Oriel; he also came on as a midfield sub in the 0-0 in Tallaght. Of the five matches Kavanagh played in four of them and featured in midfield in 3 of those

Wasn't a large part of the reason McNamee left Derry and went to specifically Cork (and was linked to Limerick initially) that he's going to college down in Limerick?
Never heard that, but we train mornings so unless he's part time I doubt it.

No. That was never true. No idea where the rumour came from. We had agreed to sign him long before the link with Limerick came up.

Yep. Decent player, I thought, and really gave his all on the field. Will do well at Larne.
Just disappointing that we've lost him, though considering he won't be paid with us until the new year, can hardly blame him.

He did one of the more bizarre bits of kicking out I've seen against Limerick a few weeks ago. Duggan went past him in midfield and he just took a swipe at him, for no real reason at all. Just took the yellow and walked away.
No needle in the game (in general, or between him and Duggan), and you were already ahead and coasting.
It was just strange to see.

Doubt he'd suit the way Bohs play so being a former player and with the money knocking around at Shels you'd guess he'll step back and boss that division.

Terrible article, no mention of Rovers left back domination of the league.
As for Conan Byrne, we have two excellent wingers signed, Dan Grant and Promise Omochere.Dont know about Stokes and Devanney signing up again.
Conan Byrne was in Dalymount for the Under 19's euro game the other night, whether that has any relevance?

I believe he was linked with us last year, probably more because of the 'part time' thing than anything else (due to work he would not go full time).

Sure it must all be nonsense - the journo even thinks that the best of best of the league's left backs only came in July
Bolstered by the additions in the transfer window of Alan Mannus, Dylan Watts and Seán Kavanagh, respectability and a European spot was restored.

I wanted Bradser gone midway through the season but again he has done just enough to hang in there at this stage i think the club holding their bottle and keeping him on has the proved correct decision. So i reckon he will start the campaign next season.

In fairness to Bradley, he got a more cohesive organised performance from his team in the last third of the season. Surprised that they edged out a technically superior Waterford team for third place.
