You could have done with losing at least one of those...

That's harsh :)

So Bohs fans. Opinions on Akinade now? Officially signed for Waterford along with Hery.

His past aside, when on form Akinade is nearly unstoppable in this league, he's just not on form or fit enough. Hery is a great signing, was hoping he might come our way

Maybe but I bet opposition fans are happier than Rovers fans about Tomer re-signing

On the field.. those are two super signings for us.

Off the field, Akinade hasn't gone down well here may lead to a number of people boycotting home games.

I would have liked to see Hery at Oriel Park. He showed glimpses of great potential, the question is whether he'll do it consistently. Great signing by Waterford.

Akinade will divide people, no question about his ability, but plenty about his 'character'.

Disappointed to see him go tbh. We gave him the chance to get his career, and life, back in order and stood by him when he missed loads of time through injury. But I've heard Waterford are giving him about 4 times what we were offering so no surprise, football is a business after all.

Two Excellent Signings

Miele - super player
Burke - great potential, needs more consistency and discipline

Two dodgy ones:
Shaw - One of the poorest €10,000+ signings the league had seen (Kilduff might also be a rival). Limited one-dimensional player
Tomer - Kevin Horgan must be putrid!

Who paid 10k for him? Cause it certainly wasn't Rovers.

Compensation would have been paid to Longford for him . He has improved every year, got 11 this season so hopefully kicks on and gets another few.

As for tomer , theres no keeper in the league worth replacing him with and getting one from abroad would be a bigger risk. Hes prone to a few mistake(what loi keeper isnt) but has also kept us a number of games this year.

Well I guess the rovers supporters who attend every match and voted him player of the year disagree 😁😁

Paddy Barrett confirmed signed for FC Cincinnati in the USL.

Paddy Barrett confirmed signed for FC Cincinnati in the USL.

"Barrett would begin the 2017 season for Dundalk as the starting CB replacing the departed Andrew Boyle. “Barrett began 2017 as a starter, but Dundalk got kicked in the face early on. Paddy was dropped from the squad, but battled back and found his way into the line up for a derby match vs. Shamrock Rovers. In that match, Patty was at fault for the goal and never saw the pitch again for Dundalk.”

Good luck Patty :)

Lost in translation.

Cork City awards night tonight (Seani Players POTY, McCormack FORAS POTY, Dan Murray hall of fame for those interested). Sheppard was interviewed and had some interesting comments. He said that it was well documented that he could have left. He was doing it for his girlfriend and her kid to be closer to Dublin but after the cup final he couldn't leave. Said that he spoke to JC and agreed to play for us for less than he was offered elsewhere (but presumably more than he was already on). Interesting if true, of course we have to take into consideration the audience and that he might be playing up to us. McCormack also said in private conversation that McEleney is a myth but I may have lead the witness on that one.

How do they go from Paddy to Patty?! It's one thing to take Patrick and change it to Patty but.... Ugh

I notice the article was since changed to read 'Paddy' and not Patty.

The official site having a pronunciation of his name as 'Bear-it' was just superb though.

In the weirdest transfer of the off-season so far, Davy McDaid has moved from Waterford to Larne.
Larne are currently second from bottom of the IL first division.

And on a 2 and a half year deal when it seemed Linfield had him all but signed. Madness

Apparently there’s been a lot money invested into Larne. It isn’t strange at all Davy hasn’t signed a new deal with Waterford. He was living there here but he has a young family up North which was a big reason why he was looking at a move up the country. Sligo also showed interest

A brave move from bradley. Must have a good replacement from abroad lined up or maybe making room in the budget for someone else.

Simon Madden released? I don't understand that at all.

Very reliable player, hardly ever injured, defends well, and adds a lot going forward.

One of the top two right full backs in the league.

Resigned as in left, or re-signed as in staying on?!?!

One of the worst things about the LOI online media is people not known the difference and what people actual mean. Seen many a tweet X resigned for the 2018 season. Which would leave you questioning has he left the club or has he signed a new deal. Mind boggles how people don’t know the difference in this day in age

Seen a LOI player giving out on twitter, how can a club release a Madden whom was already out of contract. I heard he got a better offer elsewhere then what Rovers has on the table

Letting Madden go is baffling. I hope he doesn't hold it against the club - he's always been a model pro and given everything for us and that'll always be appreciated by the fans.

Dundalk in confirmed:
Patrick Hoban
Stephen Folan
Dean Jarvis

oriel
24/11/2017, 6:59 PM
Hoban is an excellent signing if he can show the same form he displayed for most of 2013 and all of 2014. He may not have exactly set the world alight in league 2 but still scored a good few and probably all clubs there are better than most of our PD.

Jarvis will have a job dislodging Massey but he has potential, Folan is an interesting choice, will probably challenge Hoare to partner Gartland, from the 3 I only see Hoban as an auto starter.

Looking like Mountney and Benson set to resign over the coming days too. Ronan Murray still strongly linked too.

Have Derry fans any insight on Aaron McEneffs position?

Obviously he is under contract for next season, but there was strong and persistent suggestions around today that Dundalk have put in a hefty bid with Derry and that the player wants to move.

patrickccfc

If Hoban is still as good as he was with Dundalk previously, then that could be one hell of a signing. Wouldn't of minded him down this way.

Bohs have re-signed Keith Ward. And have signed JJ Lunney from Pats - looked decent every time I saw him, but still young at 19.
They've also promoted a couple more u19s - Morgan (midfielder) and Magerusan (striker).
Bohs squad looking very young already for next yr, with just a sprinkling of experienced heads - Supple, Pender, Kavanagh, Corcoran and Ward.
