Had 4 seasons with us, he started off in 2005 with us and had a few games but established himself in 2006 and played up to the end of the '08 season.
ah so he was part of yer side that got promoted in 07. Forgot about that as was at that game. surprised Stephen Henderson didnt attempt to get him considering their previous time together.

Town sign Darren Meenan from Shamrock Rovers and Evan Galvin from Cabinteely. Obviously wasn’t worth Meenan’s while going over to Belgium. He was on trial with us back in Alan Mathews’ first spell in charge (2006 or 2007 I’d say) but wasn’t offered a contract at the time. Good signing for us now though.
think it was 07 as that was the year we had one of the Sligo Rovers lads on trial Conor O Grady along with a lot of others that strangely werent signed that year!

Cummins is a very good signing for City compared to Hoban to Dundalk.
He was in St Johnstones match squad throughout this season & has made a total of 53 appearances since signing for them in 2015.
Hoban hasn't played a game for anyone for a while now & he's been back over here since the end of the last UK season.
Now at the end of the day that might not be worth a lot but I think City will be the happier of the two clubs.
Would fully expect you to think your signing is superior. Personally I'd prefer to have the younger player with a point to prove. Has Cummins got anything to prove? Time will tell I guess

I was just comparing two center forwards based on current form. If Hoban can recover the form he showed previously at Dundalk then he will be an excellent signing.

If Cummins was in such good form I don’t think a team in the bottom half of the premier league in Scotland would just cut up his contract

Cummins has scored less then 30 league goals in 6/7 years since leaving Cork. Hardly great form to be bragging about in fairness

I was just comparing two center forwards based on current form.
Daily Record article from two weeks ago, including quotes from Cummins, does not seem to indicate a centre forward in great form currently
Graham Cummins admits his weekend goal at Ibrox was extra special after enduring the toughest year of his footballing career.
The Irish striker was speaking in the aftermath of Saturday’s 3-1 win against Rangers when he came off the bench to net an important third.
It was the 29-year-old’s first of the season and he revealed his struggle to get his name on the scoresheet has left him feeling miserable.
Cummins told the Perthshire Advertiser: “This year has been the hardest time in my career.
“As a striker, when you are not scoring it makes you question everything about football and everything about yourself.
“I haven’t enjoyed it at all this season so far.
“I’m not deaf, I can hear the shouts from the crowd and it does get you down. It has been horrible, if I’m deadly honest.
“It didn’t start well when I missed that chance against Trakai in Europe back in the summer and things just haven’t clicked for me at all.
“I don’t think my overall play has been bad but in my position you get judged on goals, that’s what everyone looks at.
“I am more harsh on myself than anyone else can be, it’s a confidence thing.
“I have been beyond low this season, it has been dreadful. You are only human and things affect you.
“I have been bringing it home, I’ve been miserable about the house and to the wife. I have been a very miserable man, I have been hard to live with.

I still suggest it would be wise to see how he settles in back at Cork before trying to blow his trumpet

I'm actually more confident about Cummins after reading that then I was before. I don't expect him to finish as top scorer in the league next year but I have some slim hope that he can settle at home a bit and with a happier life off the field JC might be able to coax a bit more out of him. It wouldn't be the first time Caufield has taken a player who was struggling and helped them find their form. If we can get 12-15 league goals from Cummins I'll be very happy.
Hoban though has much more recent proven pedigree in the Premier Division and I would be surprised if he didn't outscore Cummins.

No bragging.
As I said "simply comparing two center forwards"
At least Cummins was playing in the SPL in Scotland.
Hoban has scored only 7 goals in three seasons since leaving Dundalk & it seems couldn't get a game with anyone in the UK.
Time will tell if either of them can make a go of it back here.

You certainly are determined to continue this farcical comparison!
All you are short of claiming is that Cummins is in more prolific current form with one goal scored this season with St Johnstone versus none for Hoban!
Wait till the season starts before trying to assess or compare form or ability

I've seen a fair bit of him over the last couple of years. He claims to be an attacking midfielder, but Liam Buckley has different ideas and played him mainly as a centre-back over the last couple of seasons. Buckley likes his attacking players to be a bit more technical and skillful than this fella. He's a decent athlete and good in the air though, so that's why Buckley played him mostly at the back. He looked ok when he first broke into the team in 2016 but last year he was dreadful, making error after error after error. Maybe his head wasn't right because Buckley was trying to convert him into a position he didn't want. Either way, i'm not surprised he was let go. To be honest, i would have been shocked if they had kept him.
A change of club might do him good psychologically after a tough season.

An undisclosed fee? Is this just Bray putting a spin on cancelling his contract or did Bohs actually pay a fee?

Squad player?!? As things stand, I'd say he's the best CM that Bohs have on the books.
Long seems to agree - “It’s no secret that we didn’t want him [Buckley] to leave in the first place,” said Long. “He was virtually an ever-present for me before he left, so he is a player and person I hold in high regard. With Fuad Sule leaving, he is an excellent fit for us to fill that void."

Signed from Cork for in the summer, played 3/4 games if even. Best of luck to Aaron. 3.5 year deal too, fairly good contract.
Cork presumably will see a chunk of the deal.

I also wonder what the fee was, I'd be thinking in the region of 5-10k. That's a good signing for Bohs, he fairly made it clear he wanted to join. I think that's the same player in that classic selfie photo 2 years ago, unlocking his bike after a match at Tallaght with hundreds of Bohs fans on the LUAS cheering in the background ?

5-10k of what?
Surely you are not thinking euros, like actual cash money?
I thought that only exceptional players like Gary Shaw and Ciaran Kilduff can attract that sort of money

10k is a player's wages for the season at Bohs - there's no way they're spending that on a release clause.

Hard to believe they are in a position to spend any amount on a release clause let alone 10k. I honestly thought that was a wind up when i read it first.

Bohs would be offering lower wages than last years version of Bray so the undisclosed fee is probably what Buckley was paid for accepting the lower contract & getting off Bray's books, makes more sense Bohs paying money for him

If he's half as good as the last Lithuanian international to play in the LOI, Kalonas with Bohs, he will be an excellent piece of business by Dundalk.

He was part of the Suduva team that got to the 4th Qualifying Round of last year's Europa League too. A good bit of business having another player with that level of game under his belt. Another Lithuanian team went very far in the EL last year too, Trakai, who knocked out St Johnstone, MacMillan's new club. Zalgiris beat Pats a few years back too. Their National team might be muck awful but their clubs aren't too bad given the size of the country and the fact that basketball is the dominant sport everybody is into there. Good signing all round for Dundalk.
And don't forget about the other important signing today, Georgie Poynton, scorer of the only goal the last time a Dundalk player beat Cork.........................just a pity he wasn't actually playing for us that night !

Looking forward to seeing him play but we've all had those kind of signings only to be delighted to see the back of them
