Bridge B had a great win in the Clare cup yesterday against ennistymon A so that shows upsets do happen. Good wins for Bridge A, Ennis town and Avenue A aswell yesterday. Tulla and Connolly drew 1-1. Any reports from the games?

That Ennistymon result was a bit of a shock alright , a lot of the comments i was reading on this forum seemed to suggest they were a coming force in clare soccer, might even be dark horses for the cup ! I think they will have to go a bit to hang onto Bridge celtic . olympic and Turnpike.

Ennistymon did well in the Munster cup so they can't be that bad of group of players! Fair play to bridge b tho!

Bridge B had a man sent off ten mins before half time and also led for most of the game, they were very organised and only conceded the equaliser with the last kick of the game.
Ennistymon no doubt were the better side but lacked any sort of composure in front of goal.
I've seen them twice this season and hope they get promoted to premier but need to add to their squad, they have quality but not quantity. Only sub they had came late, 20 mins into the game.

Heard during the week that Ennistymon have lost 2/3 key players to immigration over the past month. The McConneigle brothers and another attacking player I think it was, so they may find it hard to maintain their challenge.

Barring a collapse Bridge Celtic should walk the first division going by their results to date, they have brought consistency to their game this year. Both Olympic and Turnpike mix the good with the bad but both should be there or there abouts fighting for the 2nd and 3rd positions. Ive been very disappointed with Rhine Rovers this year, capable of putting it up to any side in the division but just seem to be lacking a goalscorer. Kildysert i would imagine will go down unless they make a few new signings as they will lose players for games now the gaa has started up. Any team heavily dominated by GAA players may struggle now with the second half of the season.

Just out of curiousity. Does anyone know the breakdown of players clubs for the oscar traynor?

Is there any real need to have a blanket cancellation next week (3rd div aside) because of the fixture. If it was a home game or final i would understand but an away semi final in Kerry is not going to attract a large clare crowd (unfortunately).

I totally agree there has been enough games off last 3 months.. bar premier all games should go ahead

Maybe they are hoping that like hurling the whole county might get behind the team

Have to agree that all games not involving O.T.players should have gone ahead, season is too stop start , i mean games could have had a 10.30 kick off to give people a chance to get to Tralee. Best of luck to the squad and management team for sunday, come on the Banner !

What a result below in Kerry for the Clare boys yesterday unbelievable stuff congrats to Crusher and all involved . Was not at the match but judging by the 3.0 scoreline they must have played well a special mention must go out to my own club man Hayso for the hatrick cant be many players out there to score 3 in an Oscar Traynor semi ,

Great win as the lads said. Hayeso was on fire. But some good performances from Briggy and Murphy blocked and cleared everything in the back. John Mul pulled off two great saves.
Just in a side note, saw the fixtures for mid week games. Avenue playing 6th league game against Bridge and they played them already. Clueless aint the word.

Neither team has to fulfil that fixture..
Last 2 AGM's outlined that rule

The clubs need to step in and stop Lydon doing what he likes.
If they don't, this sort of thing will continue.
Everybody can see what's going on but the Clubs are every bit as bad to stand by and do nothing.

Lads whats the problem .. you have to play everyone twice .. just get on with it.there is some amount of moaners out there.. a few weeks ago People were moaning about having no games now ye want to pick and choose your games..get on with it..both panels should have very few if any injuries so what difference does it make

Just quoting the rules by which the league is run Second.
Won't bother me either way if game goes ahead or not.
If the game is played it will be in breach of league rule book.

Nobody has hinted at picking and choosing their games, no suggestion of that whatsoever.

Thats fair enough lads but infairness the weather this year has been brutal causing massive postponments of fixtures . Im sure Mr lydon has no reason to have these 2 playing and with 4 divisions to make fixtures for it probably slipped his mind.

Just checked website:

Avenue have Mountshannon, Newmarket , Connolly and Tulla left to play in first round of fixtures.

Likewise with Bridge they have Connolly, Newmarket and Mountshannon, before starting their second round of fixtures.

That took me 2 mins to research, Surely Fixtures Secretary could have done the same..

It's a tricky fixture for both teams, but I'm sure the winers if there is one will be quite happy after to have it out of the way! Second is right. Nothing worse than playing avenue or the bridge when your not at full strength.should again make for a good game two full strength squads.also sorry for dwelling, it will be a massive advantage to the winners.

Eoin Hayes is on the squad. John Mul got a trial also. Manager is from Inisowen. So its mainly made up of players from up that way.

apolagies fifty I was taking seconds quote on they should be as not many games are being played, but you obviously know more, sorry again.
manager being from somewhere shouldn't come into it, but I take your point it will, surely asst manager should of been from down around here to make a say for the better players,
two players out of the Oscar finalists got trials and one makes it I think...hard to believe, what's the game coming to..

From what I hear, I dnt think there is many Limerick players on it. You think they would make up a good chunk of the squad.

mastermind1
25/03/2014, 7:24 PM
Darren Murphy should definitely be in the squad. In my opinion he is as good a centre half as i have seen. He can run, pass, tackle, read the game, probably lacks the height for centre half but i d have him in any team. Alot of good players in the clare league, results of county teams of late are showing that aswell. Clubs like Avenue, ennis town, bridge and newmarket need to be push on in munster and fai again next year and build on whats gone before already this year

MFA Rules don't allow for the team on the home side of the draw to play the game at their home ground, never has. You get to play it in your home county but not your own ground, after that it's the MFA that decide on the venue. Gate gets split 3 ways after expenses (ie. referees fees) have been paid - 33% to the MFA and 33% to each of the teams.
