Its a bad pitch but it is better than losing home advantage and playing out in corofins (field)

lees road is not the solution. it is not the proper surface to play competitive games on unfortunately
the new 3g pitch would be the way forward but thats not going to happen this year or next.
Is Lees Road astro pitch being upgraded to 3g surface? Be great.

Avenue v tage the weekend hopefully weather stays good for it heard pitch very soft out there..could anyone comment on what way the pitch is.

There isnt a pitch in the county that isnt a bit soft at the moment, anyone that tells you otherwise is having you on. Pitch will be fine and in good shape if weather stays dry over next few days. Hopefully there will be no more games called off due to weather. Looking at results in the cup, not too many upsets and alot of the fancied teams are still there.

Doubt anyone outside of avenue , Newmarket , ennis town or bridge will win the cup , turnpike might go a long way if they avoid the the big guns.

I fancy ennistymon or even tage A they are a good cup team

Tage A are not a good cup team. Beaten by B teams last three years running at first hurdle.

Long time viewer, first time poster.
Just an observation from the cup games last weekend. I spent my Sunday in Lees Road watching the 3 cup games. With the exception of the Turnpike v Rhine game, the games were non events. Both Sporting Ennistymon B and Kiladysert Celtic were beat once the first goal went in (the sporting game was called with 20mins left). Is there anything to be said to let the lower league teams play a round or 2 of the cup before the premier or even first division teams come into it? They seem to be well ahead on total games than premier sides so it would free up an extra weekend or 2 for the premier division to catch up on games.

Not a bad idea but "B" teams have had great runs in the past few years and reached cup finals. Inch who are in bottom half of second division beat bridge celtic who are near top of first division so I think it should stay as it is. Its the whole history of the cup, some of the lower teams love to get a crack at "better opposition" to see if they can cause an upset.

I understand that mastermind but a round amongst themselves would filter out the complete no hopers. No disrespect to Sporting or Kildysert but looking at their body language and squad sizes before kick off one would not imagine an upset from either of them was on the cards.
If either side had a notion of trying to pull off an upset then they would have refused to play on the astro turf and looked for a postponement. Both teams were the home side as far as I remember so it seemed like a sense of just wanting to get the game out of the way. A first round amongst themselves would filter out alot of teams with this attitude.

They can still have a crack at A teams, just seed the draw so premier teams come in after prelim and 1st rounds

I agree teams like a crack at the premier teams but it would be no harm weeding out a few teams that are not too bothered about causing an upset. No disrespect to Sporting B or Kildysert but even before the kick offs I felt neither team was going to win.
Neither team came with a big squad and body language and pre match warm up before the game was poor compared to their opponents. If either wanted to win they would never have fulfilled the fixture on the astroturf (both were home team) so it just seemed like a case of playing the game to get it out of the way.
Leave the premier teams out for a round or 2 and this will be eliminated.

Tage were unlucky against avenue this morning thought a draw would have been a fair result

Tage were unlucky alright but Avenue could have had one or 2 more themselves only for some last ditch tackling and abit of over doing it in attack. Subs injected a bit of pace upfront for Tage and Richie Fitz got a bit more joy in down the left in the second half but I feel the Avenue win would have been more comprehensive but for having to play the last 20/25mins with a make shift defence (O Malley, Phillips, Russell all went off).
Avenue squad looks depleted if injuries pile up. They will be happy to have gotten the win this morning considering the circumstances.

I agree with ya fatronaldo, i felt tage were the better team and very unlucky not to get a result from it. 3-2 to Avenue. Tage much improved from last time we played them. Will be a tough league this year, alot of teams have upped their game

they still had to win it no matter how bad the opposition are and a big scoreline also a help. but agree Olympic will face way better teams of the rest of the season
