in fairness i assume he is alluding to the fact kerr is in charge.
Clearly that's what he is alluding to, but it's still a bizarre comment, given that Brian Kerr is not British, and as far as I can tell has never played or coached football in the UK either.
Maybe Worthington has him confused with this Brian Kerr (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Kerr,_Baron_Kerr_of_Tonaghmore)!
More likely Worthington is either a) an ignoramus, who doesn't understand the distinction between Britain and Ireland or b) is just trying to aggravate people again. I honestly think it could be either of those.
Either way, it supports my view that Worthington personally has escalated NI's problem with "defections", with his insistence on saying Gibson is from "Londonderry", questioning why NI nationalists feel allegiance to a "foreign country" and now implying that all Irish people are British. Yet he acts with incredulity when NI nationalists don't want to represent his team!

'Reflecting on the drawn match (NI v Faroes) in 1991, Northern Ireland manager Worthington said: “I remember it was a Saturday afternoon when we don’t perform that well. It was quite warm.'

Note a comment by Nigel Worthington, RE: Tuesday's game v Brian Kerr's Faroe Islands, in today's Irish Times.
Soccer: Northern Ireland manager Nigel Worthington wants his side to build on their impressive start to the Euro 2012 qualifying campaign when they meet the Faroe Islands on Tuesday.
A goalless draw against former world champions Italy at Windsor Park increased the feel-good factor in the camp following the victory over Slovenia last month, but with former Republic of Ireland boss Brian Kerr managing the Faroes, Worthington expects a tough, if familiar, test.
"I see this game as a bigger one than playing Italy,” said Worthington. “Why? They have a British manager (sic), who knows the British game and knows our players. So we have got to go and do a job.
I have read the article and the above quoted comments are NOT part of the article.

No that i agree, but we do play a british type game, hoofball, the usual stereotypes associated with the british game. Our players play there, and thats the type of game we play. Worthington is simply saying that given the manager is irish who has managed irish sides(that he actually said can play a bit and wanted us to show we can play a bit) only bar his current team, he expects the Faroes to adopt that mentality. I don't think he is doing too much wrong there to be honest, he could have been clearer by adding a few sentences in between but its still the same point.

Yes i didnt see that either, but all bar the british manager part which is completely stupid, still goes along with what i was saying in the previous post.
But what a ****, a british manager.

I assume you are just trying to highlight his stupidity here?
It was quite warm, thats a great summation/conclusion to reach. FFS. what a tw@t

That game was played in Belfast,
just slightly oddball to state that a Saturday afternoon was a time "we don't play well".

In all probability the article was changed and those quotes were removed. I doubt that Scooby would make it up.

The article must have been changed since if it does not appear in the form that I posted on Sunday. The quotes were copied and pasted word-for-word from the Irish Times website. I'm sorry now I forgot to post the original link.
Bizarre stuff to come out with so, as has mentioned above, he is a purely either an ignoramous or a dislikable little sh!t-stirrer.

Even with a name like Scooby Doo, we never doubted you for a second :)
Here's your proof
Kerr is a Brit, it's official (http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/49711.html)

It still seems hard to believe that was an honest mistake. If he was trying to get under Kerr's skin, it's backfired horrendously.

I'm sure Kerr has that fuzzy warm feeling that follows the serving of an ice cold dish.

Brian Kerr, admitted to being a R*ngers fan when asked 5 years ago, but think his old man's family were Weegie Prod (product of a mixed marriage) stock so not that surprising.
As for the wee 'mural', that was on OWB months ago! And is pretty dated.
It was even suggested it was the Irish indulging in the black arts, 'trying' to give them a bad name! ;)

The next player for an IFA/FAI tug of war? (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-11735734)
18-year-old central midfield player who's going to Brazil and plays like Duncan Ferguson?! Sign him up.;)

Or of course he might go and declare for them....especially if he's "Not the North of Ireland, but Brazil!" to coin a certain laboured ditty.

I cringed at the last line of that article :shame:. Doubt we'll ever see this lad in an Ireland shirt. Such will be the 'small-town, UTV-type' hysteria in the North over this, I doubt he'd be likely to switch even if he was of nationalist background.

If he acquire's Brazilian citizenship is he still eligible to declare for Qatar under FIFA rules? :)
