That is very bad form and whats the outcome?
the outcome is that two limerick clubs are doing there best to get another limerick team to travel away from home in the last 8 of the fai

In fairness how many clubs could arrange a game on a Thursday to get a lad off a suspension,Pike must have some pull in Limerick
i dont think it has anything to do with pike having a pull it is about two fellow clubs would go so low and do something like that.(also any club worth there salt would do what pike did)

They have accomodated many teams in the past, i remember when Limerick were playing there one saturday that a big team from Dublin were accomodated in the pitch next to the game to train before they played Fairview the next day
Anyway its bad form if the clubs rang St Michael's but i think anyone who is on this forum regularly will know for a long time what this thursdays game was arranged for and i'm sure St Michaels didn't need tipping off from the aforementioned clubs

lads, didnt Westport lose a semi a fews years back but got the game replayed as the winners had played an ineligible player, they won the replay and went of to lift the cup. point being that if there is a bit of skullduggery or cute whoreism going on y'd better have all the i's dotted and t's crossed cos at this stage of the competition its not just on the pitch that games are won and lost. Now I'm not trying to stir but wasnt it a Limerick team who Westport found out, correct me if I'm wrong

This will just make it all the sweeter for Pike if they win. Why not give the limerick teams all the help they can to win the FAI? I'm sure if the roles were reversed with star, pike would do the same for them. And this talk of Pike "ratting" out Carew Park to Westport that time was always ridiculous, I remember it well as it was ridiculous at the time, as it was in the Star that Dennis Whelan was sent off in the previous match! Just people looking for mud to throw at Pike again. Even dragging this up again.

Lads just reading back through the last couple of pages, basically Pike have arranged a fixture to allow them field their strongest team on Sunday which they're well intitled to do. The business about clubs ringing St Micheals about the fixture is ridiculous, if anyone here thinks that Saints wouldn't have known about the fixture already are very naive as their one of the biggest clubs in the region and would have alot of players and former players living in Limerick and would have them clued in. Doesnt matter what team either club field it will be strong and the game will be very close so instead of all this phony war crap lets look forward to what should be a cracking game.

Diggler, I was unaware that there was any controversy surrounding Pike with the Westport semi final. I've been to the FAI website and found it was Carew who fielded the suspended player(considering the facts, they(Carew) were lucky to get a replay?!?!). Didnt realise there was 'rumours' floating about. As I said wasnt stirring, just it would be an awful pain to re-arrange a fixture to get a players suspension out of the way and then for that game not to count against his suspension. But I suppose Pike know what they are doing....

Apparently so black and pearse you're dead right about pike looking for the fixture which they were quiet entitled to do.there was no question of trying to get him off with his suspension as some of the posters believe.

i want to see pike go on and win this trophy now because of this and i,m sure a lot of people will like to see regional and view go out because of this. but i also think this shows us how scared these 2 teams are of meetin pike, besides the players mentioned been missin b,jack are the rest fit i heard ye have 1or 2 injuries carroll and o donovan thats just what i was told i didnt make it to game last sun?
O'Donovan looked very sharp in training last night, always first to turn up at training to do a 15-20mins workout on his own before the rest of the squad arrive...

Clonmel are favourites in the bookies at 7/5 , and from looking at the players they have on paper ,they wont be beaten to easily all the big names that played last yr are still der, plus they beat ballymun , which must have given the players the confidence and believe that this is der yr , Willow havent lost a game since they were beaten by ballymun in dublin 1 0 in the leinster junior last yr and they where robbed by all accounts not to come away wiv the win that day, for me this game is the pick of the ties in the last 8, there r plenty of ex leauge of ireland players on both sides , the two sides met two yrs ago in the leinster cup wiv clonmel winning 3 2 , will clonmel drive down on sunday or stay sat night tipp top ?

Town aren't as good as they were last season. they have done very well to get this far but I think Willow will be a bridge to far. Killarney weren't the greatest side and it took us till extra time to win. I would love to be wrong but I think Sunday will be the end of the road for Town- we are a last 8 team at best
Clonmel Town would have to be favourites??
Irish Junior Players Scully & Moroney in their Squad.
Willow Park Athlone are unknowns here... Good Footballing Side though!!
I seem to remember 2 years ago in the FAI Junior last 32 or 16... Willow 2 Clonmel 3 aet.
Should be a good contest!!

ya clonmel will be favourites though. should have been in the final last year and we have been there or thereabouts for years, not to mention we have knocked out the holders this year. i can see big celebrations in clonmel on sunday night. we will have too much for that willow side, they are not at the same level

Carew got permission to play denis whelan off the fai...denis cruz was the fai man that gave them permission but he never gave them it in writhing...fai junior council awarded the match to carew only for fai senior to overrule them..top man in senior was from westport at the time so thats what happened...it then went to abratration which decided a replay would be fair and first match would be void..but westport had a player sent off in the first match and the madness kicked in from there..he was told he couldnt play in the replay or denis whelan couldnt play even though first match was void...carew did nothing wrong but got punished for fai junior council mistake....westport got a phonecall from a pike man that evening after the first match...they also left them use their field to train morning of the match and informed them all about carew players at the time.westport went on to win the final..pike had played two players who were sent off in a previous game the same year play in the next round but were beaten so no objection was needed..and thats how they found out about the rule..they were told they would have been an objection if they had won

Yeah the winner of the Pike/St. Michaels game look like the eventual winners. But cup football can throw the form book out the window. But having 6 quarter-finalists from Munster shows how strong the province is in junior football and long may it do so.

You'd have to wonder about the integrity of Junior football when you read these threads. Play suspended/ineligible players and if you get away with it well and good, if you dont its one of your rival clubs who 'ratted' you out and in that case its the 'ratting' thats worse than the cheating.
As for trying to find out about an opposition side, everyone does that. asking questions on here, personal messages, reading different league threads etc. Some of the better resourced clubs can send a scout across country to watch future opposition.
Lads its Junior football, its about getting your best available squad ready to play the oppositions best available squad on the same pitch/meadow/paddock/bog and you hope you get a fair deal from the officials. Some lads on here have delusions of grandeur about their clubs right to win.
Can we leave the bitching, bickering, name calling to when you're having a pint in the bar with yer mates. Are a few honest appraisals of the weekends games with impartial match reports to follow to much to ask? Or am I a hopeless romantic? Thats all from the Sligo Jury.
May the best four teams win at the weekend. Allez Les foot

no offence clonmel scraped past star rovers (who should of beating ye) and boro(who lost players and not the same team as they were at the start of the season) in the mjc,i think pike, fairview and regionel would ease past clonmel and probably kilmallock too.st.micheals v pike who ever wins this one will go on to win the fai
Youve the wrong clonmel rory it was Celtic the boro played and they weren't that bad either.

I've got to say that the rivalry in Limerick "junior" soccer is gone well beyond healthy. Some clubs are more bothered about what other clubs are doing instead of concentrating on the more important issues within their clubs namely discipline and schoolboy football.
Anyone involved in Junior soccer in Limerick should be proud and happy that there's 4 clubs in the quarter finals of the biggest club competition in Europe and should support the other clubs in an effort to make it an all Limerick final.
At this stage it would be great to see a Kilmallock v Regional final.I'm sure all Junior club members would be happy "neutrals" although you always have jealous begrudgers. Some of what's going on in and around these threads should not be associated with the good name of football and is not good for the local leagues or games with some of the local fixtures now laced with hatred for want of a better word.
