According to the star this morning, shels have also now withdrawn from the champions league and are going to volunteer to be demoted to the 1st division, if so that means the blues will automatically take their spot in the premiere division, if so justice at last and F**k Delaney and the FAI.

As for your all wishing Shels will go out of business, well the feasting on others misery will only lead to indigestion.
So does Christmas dinner but I still enjoy it. :p

Shels set to withdraw from Champions League
No real meat to the headline though
if so justice at last and F**k Delaney and the FAI.
That kind of attitude will get ye relegated again !!!!! :D
I wouldnt pin all my hopes though on what the star says.
Its strongly rumoured in Dublin football circles. From what I hear the highest level Shels could possibly play at next season is First division.
Absolutely no chance of playing in Europe

Waterford promoted instead of Dundalk, Joe Duffy will be busy this afternoon with Dundalk fans ;)

Yeah, it's something I really look forward to and any minor side affects are soon forgotten. :D
BTID, I would probably attend Bohs games, but they would never be my club and I'd be strictly fairweather...

On Morning Ireland just now they said they contacted Finbarr Flood and he insisted they would compete in the Premier Division and in Europe; hard to see how
What kind of squad have waterford built up this season? Is it one that is for the 1st division or good enough for the premier?

Best of luck to Pats, we in the west know how great it feels to be "invited" into a competition !!!!!! :D

Slightly off topic here, but does anyone know whether it is the FAI Finance Department or an outside company that review the clubs accounts/budgets for the Licencing process?
Because whoever is responsible for this also needs to be held accountable for giving the ok to Shels/DC/Rovers at various times over the last couple of years

accountability from the FAI - now that is a sentence that you don't hear too often - unless there is the words 'lack' and 'of' before it!! reckon it will be more of an FAI whitewash

You'll almost never hear me defend the FAI but....if a club submits accounts that seem to have been independently audited the FAI have to accept them. The repurcusions for submitting false accounts are likely to be severe so I'm sure the FAI use that threat as a means of receiving truthful accounts.

Not like you to miss the point completely. Shels will be left with no choice but to relegate themselves, as they wont be in a postition to compete in the "Premiership."

Exactly, Accolade Ltd (Shels) will not continue to trade if it is reckless to do so.

Well the firm doing Shel's/Accolade obviously used the "Kinder: My First Balance Sheet" to prepare Shels.
On the other handle, massaging the figures to conceal such a debt takes some skill!

Relegate them and kick them out of europe but wouldn't like them to see them fold altogether.
shels have acted like a domestic version of chelsea or real madrid (without the financial backing or support base). pull the rug from under them and use them as an example of how not to act as a club.
EVERYONE in the game knew this was going to happen, except shels fans apparantly  , but i think most people, myself included, are surprised at how fast and how devastating this particular bubble has burst.
into the first division with ye and start from scratch, try building a club this time and not buying one with money you don't have!

You wouldn't need a shredder if say, hypothetically speaking, your offices were flooded by a nearby river and you "unfortunately" kept all your financial records on the floor.
Records which were written in lemon juice, on tissue paper.

Shelbourne could draw the champions of Kazakhstan and incur big travel expenses. They could end up in big trouble trying to play the European tie. They won't see that prize money until mid 2008.

Shels deserve to be punished for their reckless behaviour. Exile to the First Division, with a whopping points deduction to ensure they don't come up for a long time, and minute continuous examination of their accounts, would be about right.
But, other than those who would be in line to take their place, does anyone seriously think that deliberately killing off Shelbourne would be good for their own club?
Good for Pats if Shels die? Probably not. Good for Pats fans? Oh yes, very much so

Shels were famous for their "schooligans" so perhaps some of them did a Crèche course in accounting. :D

if they had the good of irish football at heart they would not even try to commit to their CL "obligation".

With the squad they are likely to have even if they survive, that won't be a problem. How will they manage the division one travel expenses?

The way they have behaved it is better for all concerned that they don't exist. They are an embarrasment to Irish football.

Not counting chickens yet.
We have a good first division squad. Then again, it can be no worse than last year's squad.

Shels volunteering to drop a division makes no sense. Regardless of how good a team they have, the financial costs [travel etc] would be far less and they'd get bigger crowds at the Derbies etc so no matter how ****e a team they assemble, i'd be surprised if they volunteered for relegation.

There can be no complaints form Dundalk fans if Shels go down. The facts are that Waterford United are the next team in line to be promoted we finished ahead of Dundalk in the rankings table. So Dundalk can have no complaints when the blues are returned to the Premiership!!!

Shels wont have any crowds, if they're not winning. They struggled to muster a few thousand to watch them win the title this year!
It doesn't matter where they play, the kids wont turn up to watch them...
where do Shamrock Rovers Play?

I'm starting to believe in this SRFC fixation. Is Rovers Attention Disorder a recognised condition at this stage? :)

but Bohs, Rovers, Pats, Drogheda would bring decent travelling support, far more then Cobh/Monaghan/Limerick etc. If they had 6 home games against Bohs/Rovers/Pats/Drogheda they would make on any 1 of those what they'd make from any 6 first division opponents.
In business terms its lower costs and higher income in my view

where do Shamrock Rovers Play?
Rovers could just pay rent to DCC for use of Tolka, or seek a 1/2 year lease
Or a good shredder.
Or a good flood? iirc they used that one of the years didn't they?
According to this (http://www.rte.ie/sport/2007/0131/shelbourne.html) Shels will compete in Europe and in the premier this season.

you're right. Real fans try to set fire to the offces of the national association! :p
Good one
I thought you lot would love to see Dublin lose a club? If Shels go under, Dundalk will be one step closer to promotion and only Waterford will stand in your way.
Note to WUFC: don't open any unexpected parcels bearing Louth post marks.
Would rather win the first division and take the €50k from the F.A.I and laugh at them. Well I'm from Dublin which shouldnt matter in this case, but I wouldnt want to see any club go bust, as mentioned before there is no way Shels can play in the CL and should not be in the premier, their are three or four teams in the first division that one of them should be there instead.
Any team going bust is not good for the LOI, I wouldnt wish it on any club not even rovers or the drogs (who will prob go the same way as shels with there spending)

As was pointed out on some other thread about shels, they will be fécking up the leagues coefficient if they compete in CL and get hammered a couple of times.
If Shels meet the Uefa licence criteria then you cannot deny them playing in Europe just because they won't be able to gain any coefficient points. That would set a dangerous precedent.
Champions League participation would be worth 260k to Shels just for partaking (100k per round & 160k compensation when fail to make the group stages) so I cannot see Shels giving it up without a fight. As a seeded team Shels could get drawn against Luxembourg or Faroe Island team so could fluke it into the 2nd round even with part-time players. Again they could fuke a big name draw in the 2nd round & with extra 100k = tv money could pay for their entire 2007 budget...

...
How would they do that Pete? Plus they could end up playing somewhere with astronomical travel costs. Plus what part-time players are they going to have? Either youth players or the dregs that not even Kilkenny City would take. If their superstars couldn't beat the maltese ice cream sellers a few years ago how will they with an asorted rabble of rejects?
