While reluctantly accepting the decision to relegate them, the club are angered by the conditions of the decision, which stated that all debts to players (€147,000) and the Revenue Commissioners (€104,000) be paid by March 5th and, in particular, that they must then submit a further set of accounts for deliberation by the end of next month at which point their situation would be reviewed.
Woah! Did I read that right? They're "angered" at having to pay players and the Revenue money that's owed to them? Angered?!?!
And then they wonder why they get no sympathy? Unbelieveable.

Me too, unless white knight number 1243 shows up on his trusty steed. Or even more incredibly, maybe the fans might do something.....apologies for that flight of fancy, it's Friday.

KOHThey should've taken Giovanni DiStefani's money, dodgy connections or no dodgy connections :D
surely something illegal has been uncovered by the two amigos?
The haste in which two dyed in the wool lifelong shels fans (with no criminal convictions and reputations to keep in the business world) exited stage left after a look at the books suggests corporate hanky panky in the murky world of financing shels fc!
whoever would have thought it!
I was under the impression that they financed the whole domination of their domestic championship by dipping into their enormous cash reserves from their massive attendance figures (see attendance thread - one of the nest in the EL)

T'would make you wonder alright. Finbar Flood, you could understand, if he only came in short term to broker a deal with Kilkenny, which he may/may not have done, depending on what reports you believe. Brown going so quickly after arriving is much harder to figure out.

but is of the view that the conditions attatched to the granting of the licence could not be compiled with, within the timeframe stipulated, because of the particular and unique situation prevailing at the club at present.
Is that not just saying that they can't pay the money back because they owe money?

Shels appeal

They're appealing the conditions attached to their 1st Division licence, the cheeky bastids. This could backfire and leave them with no licence.

Rovers at the time had to submit bucket loads of reconstructed accounts to the FAI during the examinership period relating to the previous administration.
So I dont think that Shels may be chancing their a bit on this.

So Shels have at last have accepted their relegation.
I'm unsure if the league should accept a club starting the season owing significant monies to former players.
Shels seem to be doing their best to delay everyone else. They waited the maximum time to notify of their appeal & now will lodge the actual appeal "in the foreseeable future.
At this stage its getting tiring & hard to know what gained by prolonging.

We now know what teams will be in what divisions. We can start the league. If Shels get kicked out entirely (which I can't see happening), then it's far too late to get someone to replace them, so any games they've played will be declared void. We can ask Ollie what's the fairest way to treat them. :)

3-0 victories to all opposition tbh

My guess is that the condition they're referring to is the requirement to supply audited accounts by the end of March, and what they mean by "the particular and unique situation prevailing at the club at present" is that Ollie's the only one who knows his way around the biscuit tin and they're worried that the surgeons may have scraped out some of his long-term memory along with the tumour.
Tough. 31st of March lads, conditions are conditions just as surely as rules are rules.
I think Shels are lucky to get 31st of March deadline. To be fair to other teams the deadline should be 9th of March to ensure that we don't have a team folding after the season started & then have games declared void. It would now seem that results against Shels in March may be removed from the records a few weeks later.

They have until March 5th to pay off their debts, March 31st to submit audited accounts. Their appealing to make the deadline for their debts the 31st.

They have until March 30th to pay off the debts to their ex players and to revenue. Which is about 5% of their total debt...

They will probably get a fine of sorts after the game v Kildare.
First half saw a spectator violently throw the ball at a County player when the ball went out for a throw-in. The spectator was not behind the wall but on the grass verge. The stewards had a word with the idiot but didn't eject him from the ground.
Then a pint glass was thrown onto the pitch which was taken by the 4th official and to finish it off about a hundred fans ran onto the pitch when Shels got the equaliser. Now that was before the pitch invasion at the final whistle.
It will be very interesting what action will be taken.

I'd expect that if the 4th Official drank what was left of the pint then he should definitely be suspended! :D
;)
Seems like decent crowd on friday at Tolka? TBH more than I expected as not getting a rallying to the cause vibe from Shels fans...

Have you spoken to many Shels fans recently ?
I'll take a wild guess and say you don't have a clue whats happening at Shels!!!
Is it just from the posts on here?
I think many a Shels fan have given up on even getting into a debate on here these days.
It's fairly pointless.

Press release on the Shels site (http://www.shelbournefc.ie/news.php?id=615).
Is that for real  :
I note, with interest, many of the comments written in relation to the club deciding not to apply for a UEFA Licence this season and I note, especially, the comments enquiring as to whether or not members of the Board of Management have the “male sexual organs” required to deal with such bodies as the FAI and the Licensing Committee. Well, let me say that the members of the Board not only have the required sexual organs, but with what we have had to deal with over the last three months, have had to have them coated with steel.

It's like something you'd read on a fans' site; it's not really what you're expecting when you're on the official site looking for an update from the board on the club's financial tribulations.
Plus, "won't somebody please think of the children?", etc., etc.
It's not earth-shatteringly crude, it's just a bit odd.
