I have to commend the Doc on his loyalty. I'd imagine that he could withstand a couple of years in the cages of Guantanamo and not retract one word of his absolute devotion to St Ledger.

The doc's manic devotion aside, St. Ledger is an important player for us, not good news if he's out.
Ranking of Irish centre-backs (on national team performances only) in the last ten years;

1. Richard Dunne
2. Kenny Cunningham
3. Sean St. Ledger
4. Andy O'Brien
5. John O'Shea (would probably be two places higher if he had more games at CB)
6. Gary Breen
7. Darren O'Dea
8. Paul McShane

Fair?

I hear he's hung like a horse too. Any comment?
Apparently the lads call him Moscow Flyer

Doc, if St Ledger isn't actually fit but says that he is, that is foolish and potentially detrimental to Ireland's chances.

If such did transpire, I do not want him in the team. As much as he's been decent for Ireland, he's not that good that we should play him half fit.

That list shows how thin we've been in terms of quality centre backs over the last decade.

Incidentally, I think that his injury allowed Hollywood Paul McShane to get a game.

SSL out for longer, looks like we could be without our best 2 CBs Dunne and St Ledger for a while.👎

Sean played Defensive Midfield today just in front of the Millwall back four.

Broke up play and the played it out well.

Forde in goal for Millwall was excellent, in particular a great save when he got down to push a powerful shot wide,

He came out confidently to collect the ball from corners, was always alert to back passes and dominated his penalty area

I was very impressed.

Is SSL eligible for the FA cup semi against Wigan?

Charlie Darwin
07/04/2013, 5:54 PM
He is eligible in that he hasn't played in the cup yet but I don't know whether Leicester would allow it. I suppose they have no reason not to.

But as SSLs loan finishes before the FA Cup Final date, can Tets tell me if SSL can play in the final should Millwall get there?

Don't forget Leic could be in the play offs.

forgot about this
is this really a question? If the loan is finished, he'll be back at Leicester, who will own his registration, so unless the loan is extended he won't be eligible to play in the final

Hope you get a Wembley date of some kind, though. ;)

Never seemed to be settled at Leicester, be it through injury or not being picked and it is probably best he does move on. He seems to always play well for Ireland and tonight's game could be just the publicity he needs. Joining a club like Crystal Palace would be a damn fine move for him.

Not so good for Paddy McCarthy & Damien Delaney though, maybe. Both of whom, ironically have been deemed surplus to requirements at Leicester in the past, and are now both back in the level above before Leicester have managed to get back up.

Anyway, can you see S.S.L. getting a Prem move ?

Seemed to be mixed feelings, the main one being he is good player but they need to get the wage bill down.
Doesn't seem to be much opinion they will get anyone better.

I didn't read anything there about off field antics and the only repeated attitude was his determined attitude to play on the first team. The only report of something controversial, was a bust up with the manager when he was not selected to play. It looks like the reason they are getting rid of him is that the manager doesn't rate his confrontational attitude/isn't good enough to justify the salary/can get better for less.

It's a Jutkiewicz goal not an o.g.

Jutkiewicz was brutal when he was with Huddersfield on loan a few years ago but he's shown why Everton paid a million quid for him in the last couple of seasons. I think he's worth a call-up for two reasons: 1. He's a big lad and is probably the equal or greater than Sammon and 2. It may help us convince the inevitable glut of Irish-Polish youngsters in the future to declare for us.
