Well I don't think they say melt all your silver medals and make your own.

After all the self praise - you definitely need to getting a trophy together that has some meaning, made from all the r-up medals - Break the duck!

Both of them on their best day I would take Bolger over Shields 100%.

A poor man's Chris Shields. Decent player, definitely better than Cork's current midfielders.

Cork fans should realise that he has been fairly anonymous anytime Pats played Dundalk over the last two years.
I'm a fan of Chris Shields and I think he's found a role where he's hugely effective for Dundalk, but man to man Bolger is a more well-rounded player.

I had forgotten Greg Bolger played for Dundalk. How many appearances did he make for them and when?

You may have a point Charlie, but another thing to consider is, Shields was on his way out of Oriel when Kenny arrived as he didn't think he was suited to playing in a central MF role in a standard 4-4-2. Then he got a role which he made his own, playing in front of the back 4, as the team changed to a 4-2-3-1 role and better coaching saw him pass the ball with better quality then immediately get back into position. Shields does have a weakness, scoring goals and dribbling at times, but overall his improvement over the last 3 years has been very good. Bolger is better at scoring and will cover a lot of ground, his weakness is he can be inconsistent, discipline is poor at times, and can go through some games doing very little.

Martinho II, he played under Foster during 2011, missed almost half the season or close to with injury, a lot of Dundalk fans would argue he didn't tackle too much that season, and it was no surprise that he left to join Pats for 2012.

Both of them on their best day I would take Bolger over Shields 100%.

On his best day I would take Keith Treacy over most current league players - but currently he is not worth a registration form.

Bolger has shown both excellence and indifference (not to mention ill-discipline) over the last couple of seasons. Given the choice I'd opt for Chris Shields in my squad without a moments hesitation

Anyone know if Fagan is looking to move from Pats, or is he expected to re-sign for them for 2016?

we are apparently in talks with Micheal Schlingermann about a possible move! its on our forum.

Where would McEleney play for Dundalk? Isn't he a no10 or does can he wide too?
I know there's a decent chance Dundalk will lose one or both of Towell and Horgan, but if they got McEleney (who does seem v gifted from watching him on Soccer Republic) how do you see Dundalk shaping up next season. Will Finn drop back into the middle and take Towell's spot if Towell moves and leave the no10 spot open for McEleney.

Unless there's a press release in the next hour or so he hasn't signed anything with Rovers yet. De Town, Rovers and Drogs are talking to him over signing or re-signing for next season. But as far as I'm aware he is still weighing up his options.

Could well have done. Not signing for Peterborough anyway.

they already offered Towell a contract last yr but he turned it down. i suspect he's on v good money at Dundalk and doesn't want another failed stint abroad so he'll hold out for a club that he thinks is just right - prob holdin out for a Championship offer.

About as likely as Bristol Rovers...

Dundalk in talks with Billy Dennehy apparently. I know City are interested in Bermingham,Chambers and Fagan. I think it would cost the club to much to take Fagan off Pats as he still has a year to run on his contract. I would think Shane Duggan might come back to Cork as well and maybe Ian Turner. Mceleney also linked to us and Dundalk after his move to Peterbourough fell through. I think City should do everything in their power to hold onto Holohan, the lad never got going with us last year bar a few games in which he played really well. City fans cant understand why JC didn't play him more, but as someone on here already said JC is not brave enough. This will not be good enough for City fans this coming season though as other clubs are going to be stronger than last season. Dundalk still the team to beat though regardless IMO.

Don't see that as strange. had a very poor year. Think he wants to take a step back from (almost) full time training

I don't think Caulfield's much of a fan, certainly wasn't when he let him go anyway.

I saw Benson play a few times last year and he looked the best player on the UCD team. Even the home match against Bratislava he was well able to get on the ball and was central to everything UCD did going forward that day. Him and Dylan McGlade should be playing in the premier division next year.
Anyone know if McGlade has been linked to any premier clubs. I'd guess that both Bohs and Pats would be keeping eyes on him...

I reckon with most the lads signing back on that Turner will as well. He wasn't wanted by Caulfield as you say so why go back to most likely be a sub.

There's a few more players in that UCD team well capable of stepping up to Premier. Dylan Watts and Jack Watson are both players with huge potential and would be great options for someone like Bohs or Bray.

Would love to see Benson at Harps though, however completely unlikely that'd be. Head and shoulders above everyone in the First Division last season.

I work with McGlade's dad, he was saying 5/6 Premier clubs are in for him and a few clubs in the UK want him over on trial

A lot of our fans rate him. He never stops running, he always gives 100%. He's very wholehearted but he's not the most polished player, he wouldn't be skilful or the type to beat a man over and over but he pops up with the odd goal. He would do a job in the First Division for Limerick, especially in a squad of that quality but I'm sure Tommy Dunne will want to keep him if he can. He's been an ever-present under him.

Would be delighted to see all three with us next season.

Oji lives in Shannon as far as I know so would suit to sign for us if not staying with Galway.
O'Leary was with us for 4 years before moving on and his parents still go to Limerick matches so strong possibility there.
Gary Shanahan is a Limerick lad and the more of them we have that have played LOI the better in my opinion.
