Obviously never saw this bloke during his stint at the Saints :pumpkin:
There should be an asterisk beside all players capped under Stan :skeleton:

They tend to be quite good at football.

Until they get to Rovers ;)

This is most definitely a joke comment yes?

What does it say if you have to ask?

What does it say if you have to ask?

That Pat Fenlon hates football enough that he just might do it.

Shamrock Rovers are strongly linked with
Michael Schlingermann, Roberto Lopes, Greg Bolger, Keith Treacy, Ryan Swan

Not a ****ing chance is Lopes signing for Rovers.

I heard from a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy...

Akinade won't sign for Rovers because he has a contract on the table at Bohs.

Kieran Marty Waters is signing. Schlingermann is linked too although Delany has been offered a new contract. Could have two keepers, could be both bull... you never really know. Stephen Best, very good prospect, is staying on for another year anyway.

Kealon Dillon fell out with Keith Long which is a pity IMO because he's young and likes to get on the ball. He's only improving. He gives it a way a bit but he offers a great attacking impetus when playing.

Jason Byrne is leaving and hopefully retiring. Sad to see such a legend of the league struggle to play 20 minutes

He could do yet a job at Bray looking how they strikers performed this year...

Is there anyone else leaving shamrock rovers

Conversation on Friday in Inchicore

"Why isn't Treacy playing for them?"

"He is. Left win there. On the ball now"

10 minutes later. Same lad

"I'd like to see us sign Treacy for next season"

"You didn't even know he was playing..."

The power of the ex-international

Byrne, as brilliant as he has been in this league, can't play any big role for any team in it any more. Just doesn't have the legs

Not a transfer rumour so much as a re-signing, but worth a look at one of the greatest press releases you'll ever read. Heard the one about the League of Ireland player who didn't know what age he was? but who should have a statue erected in his honour? Read on...

Thats Rogers, Mountany, Boyle, Gartland, Gannon?, Meenan, SOD, Finn, Kilduff, O Connor (his brother too) all signed up for next season already (maybe missing 1 or 2)

Clubs are allowed to offer players under the age of 23 retainer contract offers

Limerick have been trying to tie down a few players for the last few months but with the uncertainty I'm sure its nearly impossible.

Cork rumoured to be sniffing around a few players already.

Least if he does go we will get a few pound as he is contracted for next season.

Must be England or Scotland cause cant see a LOI team spending money on a player

There's not many LOI clubs stupid enough to do that...How's Kilduff getting on??

FANTASTIC! Scored a vital late winner V Bray, Goal of the season contender V Galway in the cup.
Won a League medal and has a FAI Cup final and Champions League Football next season to look forward too.

Money paid on Mountany (5 years ago) and Horgan have worked out excellent aswell.

Cheers for asking

If St Pats managed to get a fee for Kilduff their negotiator should immediately be headhunted as head of United Nations

They were hardly going to let him go for free.

They were hardly going to let him go for free.

They got a fee alright but it could be argued that it was well spent as he has scored a couple of crucial goals, notably in Derry and Bray, that have helped win the title and guarantee another half a million in prize money from Europe.
Personally I think it's madness any LoI club paying a fee for a player, not counting the under 23 development fee though.

Charlie Darwin
21/10/2015, 5:57 PM
I don't know. If it's a modest fee and the club can afford I don't see the problem. Any fee paid is likely to be less than the cost of paying a player for a season, and nobody bats an eyelid when a team adds an extra player.

White Horse

I recall the hilarity and guffaws when Dundalk paid a fee for Daryl Horgan. Not many would quibble with that decision now.

It depends on the player and the situation.

Charlie Darwin
21/10/2015, 6:36 PM
In Horgan's case didn't a fee of some type have to be paid because he was u23 and offered terms by Cork?

I know I was one. He has improved no need since moving to Dundalk. One of the top 3 players in the league now IMO

He also has the ability to be a total liability. I hope he can fulfill the potential you point out, but it is going to be really difficult for him to get a game ahead of Boyle and Gartland. How does a player develop properly with only a smattering of LSC and EA Sport games?

You can't spell liability without ability.

I remember at the start of the season a Galway fan saying how much better he is than Brian Gartland! He's certainly got some good attributes and plenty of potential but is nowhere near Gartland at the moment

I didnt realise that Barrett has played 20 times this season in all competitions. He has had a few howlers but it seemed like he was trying too hard at times. It was a step up for him too and he adapted. He may not be as solid as Gartland but he could end up being better than Gartland. I think myself that it is the combination of Gartland and Boyle that is solid rather than their individual abilities. Get Gannon to sign an extension and we will be laughing. Madden is the only right-full that could push gannon for a place in our squad imo.

Gartland was not deemed not good enough by Dermot Keely at Shels at the same age as Barrett, and that was in the first division. Barrett is miles ahead of where Gartland was at that age, from what I've seen of Barrett another season of development under the watch of Kenny and he'll become a top player with potential to go to England.

I'm not doubting that. I just pointed out that right now he is not at Gartlands level, I don't think anyone would disagree with that

We've too many slow defenders as it is so that's a bit concerning.
