Well according to Cork fans we only want 9k for him...

One Cork fan on the Pats forum to be fair. Funny guy.

He's apparently a far better coach/#2 than manager, could be a very good appointment for you.

Just spotted this is the news feed. Towell had offers from Poland and Turkey?!

It's just Aaron Callaghan. Had a great first year at Bohs and didn't stand a chance in the second when Heary led a revolt against him. He plays decent football too. On the ground and from the back. Gave us a 4-0 win over Rovers too. Took the poison chalice job at UCD and didn't work out. Very good football man by all accounts

The poison chalice job?

I think he means the serious pressure at UCD to win the league every season.

He generally needs someone to rein him in a bit he's very hot headed and has been known to lose the support of his players because of it. Not sure Roddy is the ideal "good cop". He's an excellent coach though from everything I've ever heard.

The poison chalice job?

Yeah not sure that's the right term actually. But when Russell left a lot of players left with him. Yous were always going down that year IMO. And he had a challenge on his hands where, from his point of view, he had a lot to lose but little to win.

Exactly

I see what you mean - although we didn't lose more players than we usually lose that year to be honest. I think we were always likely to be in a relegation battle, so from that point of view, he had little to lose, I'd have thought.

One of the main things that happened in 2014 was that one team half-time talk was moved to the dug-out and reconvened sans manager - no amount of players lost really gives a reason for that.

Anyways, as others have said, if he's joined the coaching staff with Waterford, then it's a very good appointment. He was with us before as a coach as well and it worked very well. But not sure about management, for whatever reason.

He's our new assistant. Good bit of LOI experience in the management now. Didn't know much about him so its great the above. Some positive signs for next season. Sounds like we'll be back to been competitive in the 2016 season. The less said about the last two seasons the better.

It was said last week by Roddy Aaron is coming on board, and he mentioned it again on the radio this week. Was also told Roddy said it in the program notes on the last game of the season against UCD, that night it was announced Michael Garland is joining the board.

He might look a bit awkward and clumpy at times, but he's a much better player than you seem to think.

I saw him play a few times last year, even one match at left back. Can be very effective on his day.

Ya Gavin Brennan always seems to do a decent job. Solid enough footballer in fairness.

He's a good player. Would prefer if he was only a squad player (assuming he's not going to become an awful lot better than he currently is) but we'll see how the rest of the winter pans out.

Schlingermann not re signing for Drogs. Not quite sure where's off to, but word is it's Longford, one way or the other good luck to him, did very well last season for us.

Good to see Callaghan back involved in the LoI. Encourages players to play a nice style of soccer, maybe the influence of his Crewe Alex playing days. As been mentioned had a good first season at Bohs and the play-off v Galway was tighter than the score would suggest.

The UCD play-off?

Got what we deserved in that. Taking off a forward to put a centre-half up front for 45 minutes when trying to chase a game?

Yea a great coach. I know a few boys who played under him in UCD... said he was a woeful manager but a great coach.

Whatever about his management skills, his teams always played nice football.
Some just aren't cut out to be managers.
Glad to see him back in the game.

Definitely not Waterford for Schlingermann. They are signing a keeper who has played LOI before but who's currently on the USA. Haven't a name for you yet

Heard Shels are in for him.

I'm a bit surprised. There was a lot of hype about him this season, yet none of the top teams seem interested.

None of the top teams need a goalkeeper who conceded 60 goals last season. He's a Premier League goalkeeper though so no idea why he'd go to Shels or Waterford.

Maybe due to the number of goals conceded. He'd be backup at best for top teams.

Maybe his FAI job needs him to be near enough Dublin? (WOuldn't explain Waterford but that might be ****e anyway)

I doubt he'll be going anywhere near a first division club. None of the top clubs are in desperate need of a new stopper but so i'd say he'll end up at a mid table club. Longford is probably most likely. Travel shouldn't be a factor because they only train out in Leixlip.

Longford train in Leixlip, which is a hell of a lot closer to Dublin than even Drogheda so i doubt travel is an issue.

That's Kevin Burns who is coming back to the club - has been in the States for a few years.

Right that must be him, is he in or around 28 years old.
By the way when on the subject of keepers, are there any stand out ones left in the first division, from what I seen last season Dunican at Athlone was dire , Murray at Shels was okay, Cabo seemed to use about four hundred different goalies none of whom were great, Corbett at UCD was good but I think he lost his place late on, I'm not counting the relegated or promoted sides in this. And by the way Brian Kane, ex Bray currently with Malahide and a teacher in Drogheda is set to be Drogs new number one, and he's nothing special either.

yesterdays mirror had him back to Sligo Rovers! and us for ex keeper Craig Hyland! hopefully its Schlingermann as he was definitely the best keeper in league last season!

I see Brighton have taken Wilson on loan from Man Utd.

Big risk signing for a leading Championship club. There are lots of players available on loan from Premiership clubs. A LOI player heading over there could find himself being the back up right back and then being offered on loan to a L2 club.

Nothing more than a bit of talk around here I know he was training with us before the start of last season or was at least meant to so was just interested in case something does come of it.

Training with Limerick would make a bit of sense because he's from Tralee so Limerick would be the closest LOI side to him. Whether that's indicative of a move or keeping fit, I don't know.

He trained with us at the start of last season with a view to signing with us but we just didn't have the money for him. Talk now is we are looking at bringing him in this season.
