I can now see the attraction.

I can now see the attraction.

That's a serious wedge for a team that is close to the bottom of league football in England. Hard to compete with that really.

Rovers offered him ten times that.

How much was offered to Rory Gaffney?

Fenlon better work faster - Stephen Kenny will be after his signature shortly

Have heard since before the season ended that if Gaffney heads to Rovers there will be more to the deal than just money. Something to do with work in whatever field it was he graduated college in.

I thought a deal would have been wrapped up by now to be honest. Hopefully we can still convince him to stay.

No idea what's happening with Gaffney. People on both ends seem sure a deal will be done but nothing official. If Hoban is leaving, would Gaffney be Dundalk's target then?

The word is that Stephen Kenny tried to sign him previously, but his studies took precedence over moving to Dundalk.

Many see him as an obvious replacement who could fit seamlessly into the current style

So, Pat Hoban ends up moving to the bottom of League Two, with a real chance of relegation out of the Football League altogether....I wonder does he consider this a step up?

He may see it as a better shop window and significantly better money.

I'd say English lge 2 clubs could probably offer more than a lot of spl clubs, but I would agree he could have aimed a little higher than the reported link or move to Oxford.

Good news having O'Donnell and Gannon back though, I really thought the latter was best placed from our squad to make it across the water, maybe next season for him. That's the first choice back four all back now and in my view a much stronger keeper in Rogers.

We now need two strikers if he does definitely leave, one to replace him obviously, and a third striker, I'm not sure he will go for 4 strikers next year. At the minute we only have McMillan signed up as a forward.

Word is Marc Griffin is set to sign for Bohs

Best of luck to the chap, If he can stay out of ****ing nightclubs and pubs, he could be a fantastic player but Im sure il still be seeing him about the town ****ed outta his head every night he hasnt training or a game the next day

He played and scored against Hajduk Split in European qualifying this year, in the League Cup final, as well as some high-quality games on live TV and Dundalk were only a few kicks away from an FAI Cup semi and possible final. If he stayed with Dundalk he'd have an opportunity to have a real tilt at Europe again as Dundalk aren't much worse of ranking-wise than Rovers were when we got to the Europa League, and they could end up with a similarly kind draw. It's hard to see how a side who haven't been above the fourth tier in 15 years are as good a shop window.

If you consider his decision to go to a low ranking fourth division club alongside his reported comments about Kilmarnock last week, it amounts to frustration regarding the perception of the LOI as a potential springboard.

He obviously thinks that Championship clubs will take goals he scores for Oxford in League 2 more seriously than goals scored in the big games you mentioned above for Dundalk.

Good signing that for Pats, they are def going to be very strong next season. Cork are adding some decent players too and Fenlon will have Rovers well orgainsed in his first full season.

We will need a few more additions and a good replacement for Hoban if he does agree terms with Oxford, but have to say I'm impressed we have the first choice back 4 all signed and a better keeper too. O'Donnell back on a two year deal is an interesting one.

We need to get Forrester signed back up now and a centre midfielder (preferably Finn) and we'd be sorted.

Finn could be heading our way, I know Kenny was after him a few weeks ago and he was heavily linked, maybe he's waiting for Towell to make up his mind, also not sure with O'Donnell resigning will that change things.

From what I hear Finn is trying to get something sorted in England, if he doesn't get anything it's between us and yourselves for his signature.

AFAIK this is the sole reason Fahey wasn't retained by Pats. Buckley is serious about retaining the President's Cup and can't have any passengers

Maybe with his saner brother there with him he'll cop himself on and be a good player. Bit of a baffling signing but obviously Nutsy sees something in him (possibly the family resemblance).

Gav Brennan gone to Rovers, Bohs and Craptown chasing Shane Grimes, Darius off to Pats as first team coach.
We are bucked, even without a gaffer and a chairman.

On a completely unrelated note to transfer rumours, I'd like to say one thing. "Craptown" is the best/worst (depends which way you look at it) slag name I've heard for a rival team. Like something you'd hear in a primary school playground.

Carry on...

Darius would be a huge loss. Is that speculation or is it definite?

Superb footballer if he could keep his head, he was the driving force behind the league 2nd place in 2012. Actually surprised anybody would sign him after his 4 red cards last season (as captain!). He must have missed half the season through suspension.

Well with not having the biggest budget in the league, they are going to struggle compared to their more affluent rivals.

Roche has such a hard on for Pats he probably spent the entire budget getting Fahey, leaving Nutsy with only Danny North as a striking option.

Lots of jokes going around about it being a 19-game contract. At least I hope they're jokes.

Not sure what the striker situation is. Nutsy may have to/want to look outside the league.
