Its actually what Roddy Collins said that John Still said to him. Our journalists are just too lazy to be arsed asking John Still about it. I wouldn't believe Roddy if he said he wasn't paying the water charges.
It was Roddy's comment at being "embarrassed" that irks many people. He brought Still over to look at a few players and was embarrassed at their performance.
I don't know who these players are but it is very unfair to use such language. It was a poor game and several players played below their normal standards. Can he not just leave it at that? Instead he is using this game as a stick to beat the entire league and every player in it.

And yet he'll probably still get another job in the league!

Liam Miller to Cork?

I find it very hard to believe that Roddy Collins has ever felt embarrassment in his life.

ION Shane O'Connor and Lee Lynch to Cork (although I'm not sure why Cork would sign a little midfield dude but there you go)
The Folan deal to Pats is apparently a Folan - Greene swap aswell. (poor Aaron Greene if true!)

Liam Miller to Cork?
he was released by his club in Australia, some city fans speculated that he might be interested in coming home on our forum and the Echo shamlessly went with that as a back page piece. Theres nothing substantial to it as of yet

Ger O'Brien's reaction on Twitter was one of the funniest things I've seen in ages.

Keith Fahey also said he could play in league two with his eyes closed :D

On Sunday's evidence Fahey looks a lazy type of player. I am sure he can do better, but I think he did not get a contract from 3rd division Sheffield Utd last season.
The comments from some Pats fans in relation to what Roddy said, does not help in any way in reaching a plan to improve the Loi and attendances.
Years ago lived close to Crewe Alex's ground for few years; 3rd and 4th division soccer, players I remember well are Rob Jones, Craig Higgnet, N Lennon, Dale Jasper and A Callaghan. Difficult to compare teams from over 20 years apart, but I would say the Pats team this season are not better than Crewe then.
Yet Tommy Gaynor and certain Roy Keane were doing well at a big English club at the time, so good players are always in the league.
Kevin Hunt couldn't get a contract at a 4th Division club was another point made.

Ah leave it out. Fahey didn't get a contract from Sheffield United because he was still well short of fitness. He didn't look in the least bit lazy in the cup final - he was always the most available passing option on the pitch and he was central to much of the good play on the day.

Aw thanks.it all boils down to the fai not doing enough in this country for the loi.it doesnt promote it enough and then bloody john delaney's big salary(cause his worth it?)you also have guys in this country who cant stand the english but follow their football teams and wouldnt cross the road to watch a loi game.i know the standards are different but support our own game and it will get bigger.i have been following limerick since the rathbane days and i just hope that moving to the markets field will give the attendance figures a boost.allthough from what i am hearing with team for next year its a little worrying.:ball:

If John Still was judging the whole LoI on one game between the 3rd best team in the league and the 8th in a cup final then he shouldn't be a manager of an under 8 team nevermind a team in Football League Two! Last years final was one of the best games I've seen in a long time but I wouldn't say that proved that LoI is as good as the Championship and we have bags of talent for the national team's coach to call upon between Sligo and Drogheda!
People in this country just love to kick the LoI around for no reason. We all know the standard isn't great but that doesn't mean people shouldn't follow their own league.

I think you'll find that the people who "kick" the LOI Ireland are nearly always the people who haven't seen a game for a long time, if ever.

Point well made White Horse. It was indeed a poor game, not reflective of what I think you see week in week out in the LOI, Below par performances from some individuals.

Gaynor was a huge player for us in the 2nd half of last season, glad he's signed back.
Good for Gaynor, decent player and seems to have really settled into that left full role.
From our side it now appears Cherrie will definitely not be offered a deal for 2015, if this is right he will leave on a high having made a tremendous contribution after 5 and half years.

I thought Cherrie was planning to retire, but he's on the PFAI list. Then again, so is Ross Gaynor and Brian Gartland.

Hoban going on trial with Kilmarnock next week as per oriewlweb post. Also another source reported that Hoban and Towell will not play for another LOI next season apart from Dundalk, but both will not rule out a move to UK.
Money could change all of this ofcourse.

Any More word on the Finn to Dundalk rumours in Tallaght... Was a few rumours here over the week about Stephen O'Donnell going back to Rovers. Were hopefull that the Fahey to Rovers deal might rule that out..
Also Rumours of Kenny sniffing round young Ryan Manning of Galways and Benson of UCD..
Another rumour doing the rounds has been Marc Griffin to Bohemians/Drogs.
let the Silly Off season begin.. Dont know what im going to do on Friday Evenings now :/

There's no word on Finn. Like Fahey, he's not stupid enough to go around announcing his intentions to random fans on the street. By all accounts his intention has always been to get some trials in England like he did last summer. If that doesn't work, he'll talk to the club and see what other offers there are. One of the luxuries players like Finn and Hoban have is they can take their time and see what's out there because their value isn't going to go down.

So he's not stupid enough to announce his intentions to random fans, but you then go on to explain what his intentions are? Which is it Charlie:D

Keane and Russell staying at Sligo for another year. It would be great if Russell came back to Galway some time. Ruairi Keating is a player I like the look of and maybe Heary may not want him, if so Galway should move. Heary was in Terryland on friday night.
Rumours that Stephen o'donnell fancies a return to his home town club.

And give up another European campaign? Not so sure. Would have loved Keane and Russell
to come home but I'd imagine we'll have a small budget and have to be prudent with it

He's been clear for several years that his ambition is to get a contract in England. He's gone on numerous trials and was even allowed to go on trial at Burnley while under contract, presumably as he has a clause to do so.

Finn barely stands out at LoI level these days.
I could only see him making any impact at league 2 and even that's a stretch.
