I don't even require a passport when I fly from Liverpool to Derry or back. Neither Ryanair nor EasyJet require domestic passengers to travel with passports now. A driving licence or national ID card will suffice.

It's not that Ched Evans is specifically barred from working abroad. At least I don't think that is the case anyway. As far as I know, he is required to meet regularly with probation officers from the Ministry of Justice as well as participate in treatment programmes in the UK. Obviously, working abroad would pose great difficulty in terms of him being able to attend these meetings. I'm not sure if he has to meet the officers or attend the programmes at some specifically designated location within the UK or whether he can decide where it is within the UK he wants to meet/attend. I'd imagine the MOJ call the shots, which means even moving to, say, Derry might be an issue for him if they want him to meet or attend something in Wales or wherever.

The spokesperson added: "We are determined to have one of the toughest regimes in the world for managing sex offenders, to stop them reoffending and to protect victims.
"Probation officers must give permission for sex offenders on licence to take up new jobs and this includes ensuring they hold regular face to face meetings - this effectively rules out working abroad.
"The offenders will also be subject to strict conditions such as exclusion zones, non-contact orders and having to attend sex offender treatment programmes."

It's not happening lads. Derry are letting go of local heroes because of their budget. They're not going to sign Ched ****ing Evans in their place...

Georgie didn't last too long in Malaysia. Hadn't realised he signed El Hadji Diouf there as well as Eamon Zayed.

And Caleb Folan playing in the Myanmar league?

That's a strange one.

I flew Derry-Liverpool three weeks ago with just a driving licence. Nothing has changed since, according to this: http://www.ryanair.com/en/questions/do-i-need-a-visa/

Many threads digress, ive often been at fault but acceptable ID on internal UK Ryanair flights was not one I expected on the transfers rumour thread...

Athlone have signed Daniel Purdy from Rovers B and Gary Burke from UCD. Purdy is a good signing for them. Waste of a year for him last year.

Great signing for Coleraine. Pity we can't get our act together and have the likes of him around the Brandy.

End of this month to transfer, no limit if they're unattached, iirc.

Odd one. Then tweets to say he won't be there to play for 1st team. Just rehab till fit to rejoin Zaragoza. So signs for Rovers to train? Very strange.

So is he at Rovers "on rehab (https://twitter.com/JDMorter/status/558268995158417408)" or has he just made it all up? Interesting sense of humour. I'm amused.

He's gone to some lengths 'signing a contact' and all that but if you look up the player he actually has another Twitter account which hasn't been used in months so this is clearly a kid on the wind up. Even has what appears to be a fake agent, must have a lot of time on his hands

Stu - things seem even quieter than usual at UCD this pre-season - not even any friendlies announced I dont think?

I presume it will be mostly players from the U19s and LSL team, or have you any Spanish lads via Norwich on the books

Though Benson's signed for nobody as yet so far as I can see, which is strange. I can only presume that's on the way.

I walk through UCD on the way home from work, their 19s and senior team were training on separate pitches the other night. About 16 players training with the senior squad. Pat Devlin was down at the 19s training.

Talk down here was that we were finding it hard to convince him to come down because he wanted to continue in college so wouldn't be surprised if he stayed.

Go back a bit - June he says he's going to Malaga on a 4-mth loan from Norwich. August he says he's going to Granada from next July. And between times he posts what seems to be a match report from Watford 3-1 Norwich, FA Youth Cup 2012-2013 (which Norwich won later that year, BTW): no Motta on the (real) team sheet.

Plenty of imagination, good back-up work, no regard for facts. Should be a whizz in LOI administration.

Derry....they have 18 senior players currently, that includes Duffy and the McEleney brothers, all three of which seem to be off and that would mean they've lost of their best players if you include Patterson. Signing Morrison and Patton so far. Wtf are they playing at? Are they about to be liquidated or something? Their first friendly is in a couple of days.

The McEleneys seem to be staying, but an offer is being made for Duffy, so the papers are saying.
We won't be liquidated (probably), we'll just be a shell of a team.

Losing all three of Patterson, Duffy and Fats would have been pretty disastrous but if you're keeping the latter who is arguably the most important of the lot, it shouldn't be too bad.

Charlie Darwin
27/01/2015, 3:11 PM
I doubt Derry will get a huge fee for Duffy the way they've been pimping him to every club in Britain. Paddy Mc wasn't ever going anywhere and Patterson leaving seems to mean Shane can stay.

Rovers set to sign Aston Villa striker Mikey Drennan. Dundalk were interested in a loan but nothing came of it, so Rovers are about to sign him permanently.

Apparently Villa were insisting on him getting a two year deal and a significant sell on clause in order to release him from his contract. Don't think Dundalk were looking at a loan option.

Charlie Darwin

Sell-on clause seems to be true alright. Strange one, do they not how things work in this league?

Kinda liking that a bit, LoI club refuses to sign player from English top flight due to unreasonable sell on demands by the EPL former European Champions!

Wont like so much if he signs for another Irish club and becomes one of the leagues top strikers!!

Three players from the PSC Academy that visited last week are on trial with LOI clubs at the minute.

Goalkeeper Lubin with Cork tonight against Roscommon League.

Harps have striker Wilfried Tagbo in against Cork in Roscommon tomorrow, along with English striker Greg Peel, who seems to be touting himself to every club in the league at the minute.

Galway have centre half Andy Hackbarth in this week too.
