Elding I'd say is sitting on the bench so the club don't have to pay his appearance fees.

And what happened with the guy Colm Nugget, he hasn't played any game for Waterford right?

Isn't registered yet. He's still here afaik.

Fairly sure he didn't actually score any.

Oisin McMenamin is Harps first signing of the transfer window. A pacey winger/striker who was up with us previously but playing in the Ulster Senior League most recently.

Derry City have released striker Anthony Elding, four months after signing the former Sligo Rovers and Shamrock Rovers player.
Elding had joined Derry at the start of the season on a short-term six month deal, with the option of extending his contract, but both parties have decided to terminate his deal by mutual consent.

Candystripes boss Peter Hutton said: "To be fair to Anthony, he’s been a fantastic professional, but we've been thinking about it the past few weeks now and I think we’re going a different direction now and I think as well we need to bring though some of our youth as well.

"We’d like to thank him for his time here and his service to the club and wish him all the best for his future wherever it may lie."

"I don’t think it worked out for him here, but it was no fault of Anthony’s, he was a consummate professional and worked extremely hard when he was here. Very good with the young players too and they’ll benefit from that as well, but as I say, we’re just going to go a different direction."

Know nothing about the Elding craic, except that it is obvious that these quotes are bull**** from Pizza.

In fairness, he's been around that many by now it's hard to keep track.

7 players gone from Cobh.

Eoghan Murphy
Steven McCarthy
Ross McCarthy
Dave Walsh
Peter White
Darren Murphy Snr
Rob Lynch

Pity it didn't work out for Darren Murphy and White. Would have been good additions to the side

Wouldn't say so. Maybe 1 or 2. None of them particularly want to play LOI and who could blame them. Are only going to get better as a team as time goes on. Ramblers do have a number of signings planned though

Yes him and Darren Murphy didn't play a single came as they were injured. White had been training and looked like he was near enough to a return so surprised enough at him

Also quite surprising Eoghan Murphy, no? He had started several games.

Yes he did, off to America for the summer though. Hearing that Peter White wasn't released after all

Is Keith Tracy playing ball anymore? According to he's Wikipedia page he's club-less since January. Wonder would he consider a move to the LOI.

He trained with Rovers for a bit but wasn't offered anything. We have enough head the balls already.

Did a good job with Dundalk and may have been unlucky not to have been offered another contract. Decent signing for Bray

I thought he was unlucky not to be kept on last season. He played very well for us in 2012.

Saw on Gerard Grimes' twitter that Daryl Kavanagh, Michael Scott and Matthew Rooney are all leaving Drogheda. Kavanagh will be a big loss to Drogheda from what I've seen of him.

Kaguako signed but he is in those Uni games in South Korea for a while.

What's the story in UCD with Declann Brennan and McMillan, they were signed but haven't played at all? With McMillan it was said he would play rarely but he could do it.

Kavanagh looked a handful. I went to a couple of Drogheda games and he was the stand-out player.

McMillan is injured. The other guy's name doesn't ring a bell at all tbh.

Brennan left UCD before the start of the season far as I know. Played with Athlone last year..if it's the same fella you're thinking of Briuk.

Seems like quite a few players are making the trip over to America for college this summer. So far I've seen Collegiate Soccer USA say that Patrick Fitzgerald, Ross Fitzpatrick (Waterford), Evan Finnegan (Cabo), and Aaron O'Raw (Cork) had accepted scholarships while Shels said that Ahu Obhakhan, Andrew Ward and Ross O'Brien were all leaving for America too.

Rumours of a massive overhaul in Athlone coming soon. Management not happy in the slightest about the effort of most of the players. Most of them don't seem to care in the slightest. Interesting few weeks ahead.

And who's going to pay for this overhaul? Athlone seem to be wasting a lot of money this season between new players and new management. Looking more and more like a sh1t or bust formula.

Well some of the players that are there now, will be gone, so they wont be getting paid naturally. So we can sign new players.

Depends if those players are still under contract if they are and they don't agree to leave they'll have to be paid off but that's probably unlikely. I'd imagine the idea of bringing in new players is to improve the squad and that won't be cheap is all I'm saying.

Not surprised about the overhaul. I heard that athlone asked a few players about a month ago to take a break in wagesfor a few weeks to let the club get Back on track money wise. I reckon the over haul is to cut wages and nothing to do with lack of effort from players.

Can't really say too much, but it is to do with lack of effort.

Only the lads on professional deals would be due compensation. But i agree, it wont be cheap getting in new players. But there are ideas in motion to generate income for the club.
