plenty of pats fans with opinions on Rovers.
i'm curious to know whats your opinion of bucko signing 3 Rovers cast offs into the pats league winning team , and thus you end up fighting for 3rd place the following season with the same Rovers team you seem feel free to mock.

rumours this week in the pats - Rovers love in is :
bermo, fagan & forrestor(dunno why) to Rovers.
Mcabe , Finn & killduff to Inchicore

I'll personally be disappointed if Rovers and Pats don't swap at least 10 players this season. This bromance can only get stronger.

Considering Buckley has finished ahead of Rovers every year he's managed Pats, I think most are OK with his judgement on their players. None of those signed this year were more than squad players and weren't the reason Pats didn't win the league. Not forgetting that his signing of Brennan from Rovers the previous season may have been the one that pushed Pats over the hump to the title

The failure to sign decent centre backs was probably the single biggest flaw for St Pats.

Seems Rovers fans are a bit ****ed off as a "small team/club" (their words) Pats, have been far better than Rovers since they told us they would dominate Irish football!

Dublins rankings now are
1. Pats
2. Rovers
3. Bohs

Must be hard for them!

The Kilduff to Pats rumour has been around a while now & the most recent one is that Folan from Limerick after our attempt to get him in the window failed.
As for those leaving the annual Bermo to Rovers talk has started we had the same thing with Kenna for two years and he went eventually so this could be the year Bermo jumps. The outs IMO will be Quigley (lazy) , Oman (should retire) Foran (poor season).

Whispers of Oman to Longford going around, hope it's not the case, he's finished IMO

In fairness I'm 26, Pats have probably finished ahead of Rovers about 20 of those years. It's normality for most of us.

One of those players I've always half expected to end up with us at some stage after he's run out of other/better options. I've seen very little of him in recent years but reports have not been encouraging.

Benson and O'Donnell the most likely to be leaving the Bowl over pre-season, regardless of Friday's result.

Anyone want to call dibs?

Charlie Darwin

I'd take Benson at Rovers. O'Donnell would make more sense as a reserve keeper than Gary Rogers, even though Hyland is OK.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I'd be surprised if he went to Limerick. I think he can do better (European football anyway)

Bucko was at the game last night maybe having a look at someone.

Yep. Though we had injury problems in defence too, If we'd kept O'Brien, Browne, Hoare and Bermingham on the pitch for most of the season we'd have been better I think. Bolger coming back in and Fahey moving forward towards the end of the season helped too. Looking forward to seeing our best 11 play in the cup final. I'd back us to beat any team in the country when that team starts.

Too be fair all the vultures were out looking to pick the bones last night including Owen Heary. Any talent at all at UCD will be plucked away in the off season

Yes think so. Hoban has also said if hes playing in Ireland next year it will be 100% at Dundalk (hope nobody in UK wants him)

Rogers is linked with Shams every off season. He'll be going from us anyway I'd say, supposedly got a gah job in Meath so a Dundalk/Dublin team makes sense and seeing as we're cutting back there's no point in paying the high wages he gets when there's not a huge difference in him and Brush.

I do not agree.

Ah he's not that bad from what I can recall of him. We need another keeper as Bennion has retired and there's not that many good ones that we could get.

Best of luck to Wardy. Opportunities were very limited at Oriel, he'll be appreciated at Sligo, they like a good player there.

Not too bothered about him leaving. Done well in the first division with us, but started terribly in the Premier and eventually got dropped for Ryan Coulter who was fantastic for us.

Partly guessed that rory would go.best of luck to whoever signs him.folans form this season was bound to attract suitors.barry ryan would be a big loss, has been one of the leagues best keepers.if oji wants two years the club should sign him,he is a solid defender.djilalli didnt last long?he isnt a bad player.will be interesting to see who martin russel gets in.just watch this space.

He said Nutsy has asked him to come back and he expects to be here next season. Kenna is the only player currently contracted for next year.

I was very surprised at the lack of impact McPhail made all season to be quite honest. I was expecting him to be one of the top players, he was nowhere near that level from what I saw. He had some decent games but overall he gave the impression of someone's drifting.

Charlie Darwin
01/11/2014, 12:07 AM
He was poor more or less up until Nutsy arrived. Apart from the odd game, he was just slow and I think didn't take enough responsibility as a senior player. He also has injury problems and a fatigue condition, but he barely missed a game in the final 1/3 of the season so hopefully with a good break behind him he'll hit the ground running next year.

Denis is the new player/manager at Crosshaven this year so wouldn't expect it. Probably either North or Miler

Heary said he would be happy if they played for"the jersey" , Bohs had offered them a sock, so no competing with that buying power.

Shane signed a two year contract with us when he signed last season so would be surprised with that. Only way around that is maybe a deal made between the two clubs for some kind of a swap.

That 'scobe' (Keith Ward) will be an excellent signing for Sligo if he can retain and keep himself fit. He's a very tidy player who can operate perfectly as a play maker or on the wing. His best role would probably be play maker in the middle. He was very popular with Dundalk, but never really got a look in after his bad injury mid season 2013, hopefully he'll get a chance to show his talent now.

For anyone who doesn't know he immediately sought after a well known popular young supporter who was in a wheelchair at the time after the EA Sports final (he played 45 mins, turned out his last action with us) and gave up his medal.
