If 2,623 people or more turn up at the Cross tonight, City will have a higher attendance for the first 8 home games this year than all 16 home games last year.

With the "crowds" UCD are getting it is had to justify having them in Premier division. They should be combined with another Dublin club and operate as a B team and placed in first division.

If they were rooted to the bottom of the first division I'd agree but they have the quality to stay where they are on merit so deserve to stay where they are.

Luckily football is judged on results and not crowds so they're allowed stay where they are

The fact that UCD can survive comfortably in the Premier Division is an indictment on the teams who can't, not on them

Completely agree. As I'm sure do many others.

Because we all know that UCD are the reason that the LOI is in the ****s.

Then again, if Limerick didn't equalise that time... :)

Kudos to the those away fans then.

I often find it difficult to estimate the away support in an unfamiliar ground.

Of course. How do you think next Friday will go crowd wise? Do you think it could hit 4,000? It's our biggest game so far this season and some of our fans are boycotting it due to the incident last year.

We got nearly 2,400 to watch UCD. Very few away fans, game on a Monday, and not a fixture that generates a lot of interest.

I'd expect at least 3,000 home fans for this one. I hope Pats fans reconsider their boycott. Security has improved this season as the club had to deal with a serious pyro problem that was threatening to close part of the ground. Unfortunately, away facilities have not improved though the club hopes to improve these before next season.

I'll be there anyway, do we just bring the league trophy and hand it over after the game or do we have to wait until October?

No chickens will be counted, whatever the score. There is a lot of football to be played and a difficult transfer window to negotiate.

Perfectly understandable

The PA announcer has promised to be well behaved and not play that Queen number again.

There is a rumour going that he also plans to apologise for the upset he caused Pats fans last season and arrange counselling for anyone still traumatised.

Leave it there. Win lose or draw nothing is won on Friday. Just the mood that I will come home to the misses in.

Massive game and our biggest of the year so far against the galacticos of inchicore.

BTW how are pats? Any suspensions or injuries?

Hope we break the 3k barrier and if it was any other occasion/time of the year. we probably would bit weather dependent and more importantly the Spain v Holland game will affect the crowd regrettably

I don't know about other clubs but I believe historically our crowds drop off in the summer months due to holidays and other stuff like county championships

No I mean the incident that involved one of our fans falling in the stand and breaking bones in his back.

Sean Hoare went off injured last night which means Oman and Browne will now form the slowest centre half partnership of all time and also rules out any chance we had of getting a result.

As others have said I would say breaking 3k barrier would probably be more realistic, due to the challenge with the Holland v Spain clash on at the same time. Hopefully the home fans (I think they will) should come out in force. If Pats don't travel in big numbers, that's their own choice, but their home crowds have been a bit disappointing this season so not sure how many would have planned to come up anyway, but it's poor support for your own team if a small crew travel, there is a chance to reduce the lead to 3 points with Dundalk.

The away section is not good, I fully accept that, in fact its completely unacceptable for a PD ground, but thankfully it's finally being addressed and improvements should be in place next season.

I wonder will Brennan start next Friday, he more than anyone seems to get seriously wound up for Dlk matches, think he was sent off in 2 of the last 3 league matches between the 2. Im looking forward to the MF battle next Friday, will be interesting to see how Conan Byrne and Fahey perform against Dundalk's system.

Foran is injured (that's probably a good thing). I 100% agree with you about Brennan, I was saying this at our game last night, he gets so wound up playing Dundalk he always puts in stupid dangerous tackles. I'd play Bolger beside Fahey to help cover our defence.

Re the boycott, I just know some are staying away, I don't know how many. I wouldn't miss the game for the World (cup). Our home crowds are poor (although I think we had the 4th highest ave last season) but our away numbers are decent so I hope we still bring a big crowd up.

I am ambivalent about the number of Pats fans travelling to Oriel Park on Friday

On one hand a large travelling support adds to the atmosphere and contributes to the gate income. But lesser numbers also mean less support for the visiting team.

While I am sceptical about any alleged 'boycott' for any reason (Queen songs, Hanno's accident, Brennan's red cards, no direct bus, the M1 toll, afraid of Leprechauns etc etc), if some do stay at home, hopefully it will include those who tried to mimic aggressive Shams fans by attempting to break down fencing last time around.

The majority of the Pats core support are sound - those who do attend should see a quality football match played by two teams committed to passing football

I hope they stay away from all our games, too many little scumbags have started going to our games over the last year. Green street wannabes.
