it finished 1 all.aisling new all weather some job but not playable yet.there normal field was a disgrace and match transferd to kilconan which is not suitable for cows.the ref called off the match BEFORE MOVING IT TO KILCONAN and 2 of our lads had left before decision was made to move it.i made a phone call to fixture secretary and guess what he told me.

the antics of some of the kilmallock coaching staff as well as some players left a lot to be desired yesterday.it's as if they think their the s*** with the way they were strolling around harassing the referee into making a decision on calling off the game. The air of arrogance was quite unreal to behold, similar to Connie at pike ( but at least he's earned it - winning trophies to back it up), a team only in the top flight 2 years, acting in this manner.True the bottom pitch wasn't in great nick but that was because it was heavily sanded and levelled during the week due to the ongoing construction of the astro turf.
There was no coincidence that they had only 12 players available and were missing their captain to suspension.
As for the game itself, played eventually in Kilonan at 11.15, was an evenally fought contest. Tommy Heffernan put the county team ahead following Aisling's failure to clear a tame cross 15 mins in. Dean Lenihan missed an open goal with Egan stranded and Jimmy Bourke missed 3 great opportunites to level it before the short whistle.
Steven Goggin equalised on the hour mark and Aisling were well on top there after with David Njuki missing two late chances to win it for the home side.
In the end a draw was probably a fair result from two teams that will only improve as the season nears its conclusion.

agree on the match side of things lad. but heavily sanded is an understatement.we told the ref we wouldnt be playing on a field full of stones and he agreed not to play as he spotted a few boulders than yee took us down to the mourne mountains which was worse and its 3 years in the premier not 2.also the captain was playing who is marty foley.also i did not hassle the ref as i know him and played soccer with him.i was just showing him around the quarry.

That might explain why Aisling were denied two pens in the second half!
I noticed ye wern't wearing yer hard hats when you were showing him around!!!Against health and safety regulations on the building site....

The match wasn't on the astro as the FAI havn't sanctioned it yet. It will be ready for the Munster junior cup 1/4 final on 20th March

pass and move.I dont see how it would be a huge advantage for aisling to play any games over the next few weeks whether they are league or cup games on the new articficial surface.sure they havent even played on it yet themselves?if they had 10 games played there it might be but i dont see how it could be an advantage at the moment?and by what the above posts were saying about the state of the bottom field and killonan i know most teams would rather play on the new astro any day.

Keep our manager out of it, just because your losing too many games don't go round blaming out people and the Aisling manager is no angel either.....He gets sent off against Pike nearly every time.

Azizi in my opinion there is a massive difference between artificial and grass, from our point of view we would prefer grass any day of the week,if aisling are going to be playing there matches on the artificial surface whats to stop other clubs renting similar surfaces to play there matches on,it would be interesting to hear what other clubs think about it.

I presume your a Wembley man passandmove. Can't see why anyone in their right mind would not want to play on it as it surely has to be considered as one of the best facilities in the country. As a previous poster commented, how would this be an advantage to Aisling if nobody has played on it yet?
Anyway, floodlights and nets on sliding goals are up - Limerick FC were training on it last night and were delighted with the facility.

i agree with you passandmove that there is a massive difference.ive watched alot of games over recent years in the premier division.some pitches are excellent i.e- kilmallock, janesboro, pike, fairview and regionals is ok. aislings, balla (when in bateman),corbally, star, mungret, wembley, summerville etc wouldnt have the best fields. im not having a go.most of the teams ive mentioned whose pitches are poor have loads of schoolboy teams hence there surfaces are worse through playing alot of games.aislings bottom field is very sandy, cant hold water, and gets rock hard in the summer months and at times has very little grass.I think that aisling deserve alot of credit for investing a large sum of money on the artificial surface.it will definately improve them as a club and will keep ground maintenance to a minimum with all there underage teams.nearly all premier and 1A outfits and even the clubs in lower divisions train on astro/artificial grass.there must be 10-12 of these type fields in town thesedays which alot of teams train on hence players would be used to it.as a previous poster said if its good enough for dundalk and airtricity premier division its good enough for junior football.artificial surface would defo improve a players passing ,control and touch. other teams renting artificial surfaces might not be the worst idea either.better than having 6 weeks off in dec/mid jan

aislings new pitch could be the future,i prefer to see the game played on grass but lets face it aislings games wont be off during bad weather.in time other clubs will follow what aisling have done.

Agree, but theres no point in Aisling's pitch being playable when all other pitches aren't, as there is a league rule that no club can be forced to play a game if any other team in the league have more than 2 games played than them (providing the club with lesser games played state this to the LDMC), so either way Aisling couldn't play any more than 2 extra games during bad weather anyway, as they'd have to wait for other clubs to catch up on fixtures.

good point abbey, but for instance are you saying that if pikes pitch is playable when others are not that pike wouldn,t get games because say fairview object to the fact they are a few games behind?dont think so ,experience will have told you that ldmc rules and this fix.sec rules are totally different.

If a club tells the LDMC that they refuse to play until other teams around them (that have an effect on their own situation) have a similar amount of games played, then there isn't much the LDMC can do (it has been done by at least 2 clubs already this season alone in the Prem, at both top and bottom of the league).

Keep an eye on the top of the table, and I can bet you what you like you wont see Pike or View having a few games more played than the other.
Situation is the same at the bottom, hence Aisling have played the last 2 weekends, while other clubs had no games.

you can do a lot of damage to artifical pitches in the cold weather...also if you want to keep up the quality required for artifical you have too maintain it

If you only have Moulded studs and you play in a very heavy wet pitch should that team supply you with studded boots ?

I am sure if you talk to pat he will tell you himself that it was a very bad move and he doesn't hide that i think he was capped with pike but i stand to be corrected on that but there is no way could you think that moving to fairview was a good move beaten by pike in the fai, munster junior, touhy cup and league and out of the lawson also with how many matches left to the end of the season, but it is great to see any limerick player representing his city at International level.
