balla won 2 nil

good three points for us against a good carew outfit.how carew didnt score in the second half is beyond me.some fine goalkeeping and defending by our lads also a nice bit of luck.have to say the ref was good yesterday.also have to say he met us at nine o clock to check pitch so if it was unplayable we could let carew know and not have them travelling so fair play to him on that.

Some people with eggs on faces.
Pitches were perfect.
I think your all getting too soft. As for damages to the pitch nothing that a fork and a few days break would not sort out.
As for your summer soccer be prepared to lose a large number of teams if you revert to to GAA clashing not to mention anyone who has kids on Summer holidays.
Toughen up!

We played in Shelbourne Park and the pitch was perfect, no water on it at all

I stand by every word that i posted on saturday last. Spent 1 hour yesterday and 2 hours today trying, and i stress trying to repair the damage caused by yesterday fixture. maybe i am being selfish but i honestly think that the playing matches on heavy and cut up pitches is not for the betterment of the game. thursday through saturday was extreme weather...i bet none of the council were worried about damage to their facilities....there is also a finacial cost in churning pitches up. resources have to put in place to renovate the damage and this is taking resources from improving the game as a whole. still a bit undecided on summer football, but might be worth a try...

Personally I think the pitches would be like the GAA pitches with bare patchs all over the place if it turns to summer soccer

Do you think its taking resources from the club when players get signing on fees or "expenses" ?

YES!!!!!
how about your opinion. we must have the only council in sport that it main aim seems to be making money.....nothing given back too the clubs in grants..charged to use THIER OWN GROUND (jackmann).i will give you a simple example of how backward our game is.when Puma signed on as the main sponsor of the irish rugby team, each club in ireland recieved an amount of FREE puma rugby balls in relation to their clubs size. with the fai you have to buy a certain brand of footballs(not very cheap) if you progress in the main competition.....one organisation is using their sponsorship in a positive manner, one is being used by its sponsor to sell goods...same thing happened a few years ago with the sponsorship of the premier league bu a kit supplier....

was down JACKMAN 5euro entrance fee more LDMC than supporters ,could have charged 2euro and enticed more people.Bigger gate good for the game all round.

Put your name forward for council.
Get your club to put forward a motion at AGM
Whinging and complaining is useless - Do something about it.
I actually think they are doing a good job on local council.
Fixtures are up to date - League table were never so balanced - Info is freely available (not like years ago when table appeared every few months) - Jackman is in good shape - Finances are ok (I presume!)
Sure some clubs have a gripe - but every organisation is like that.
Good or bad they are all volunteers.
As regards FAI sponsorship - hard to blame LDMC for that package

Not trying to get involved in your discussion on the Summer soccer argument, but when i see false imformation put out in this argument i feel i have to comment. We in Mayo are playing Summer soccer for 16 years and bare pitches is non existent, the vast majority of pitches are cut and kept up to the same standard as n the premiership in England. I would sugest that you spend your holidays in Mayo this Summer and check out the pitches Manulla,Ballyheane,Milebush,Ballina and Killala.

no offence. In times of recession 2euro equals bigger gates, plenty of banter,BETTER ATMOSPHERE for both teams playing and all involed:ball:

corbally played very well this morning i thought mungret were very poor corbally could of been 6 up at half time instead of 3
this result really drags mungret into a dog fight they have alot of games played 15 i think

corbally 4-1 mungret. corbally went one up after 10 mins through fergal o connell, and got a second after 20mins through jason o brien.afew good saves by roche in the mungret goal followed before o brien scored a 3rd for corbally on 25mins.mungret got a lifeline on 35mins when keith mc nicholas slotted home a penalty.corbally went in 3-1 at the break.corbally came flying out of the blocks in second half and were unlucky not to score after 50mins. on 65 mins ken neylon scored a close range header after good work down the left from cox and o connell.mungret had there best spell in the last 20mins and had chances through ger burke and ian dunworth but corbally held out for a very important win.
this game was a good performance today but its important corbally keep it going as there is alot of games left.

Kilmallock and Carew Park have a nice few games in hand but will it help to keep them up if they have to play 2 or 3 matches a week later inthe dseason? Who will be relegated? One or two wins for any of the teams from 5th to 11th would make all the difference.

i am writing this post for one man and one man only as i know he reads this site alot so please dont anyone take offence.we are a local bunch of lads doing our best year in year out with little or no resources and are as far as im concerned doing very well staying in premier and geting descent runs in the big cups every year.we dont pay players or anything like nor do me or my assistant get a shiling.so when you read this i can only pick eleven to start and have 3 subs.if a player is playing well he gets the nod before a player who is not. so for a man in your position would you please stop knocking us as a squad week in week out as it is geting back to the players and its not nice and is puting a bad taste in there mouths that might have a serious effect on club.

thats what happens when you get good runs in the cups.better have points on the board than matches in hand.give it a few weeks and it might tell us more.

Balla 3-0 Star

Decent enough game, with Balla scoring within the first 10mins (B Griffin), and play was fairly even throughout the first half, with Star's best chance hitting the crossbar.
Balla scored a second on the hour when Star appealed for a foul on their keeper from an inswinging corner, but the ref played on and the ball ended up in the back of the net, when the Star keeper helped it in (OG)
Star's keeper was then stretchered off on 65mins, and with no sub keeper Star's left full had to go in goal, and at which point Star went with 3 at the back and went for it,
Star did have a chance cleared off the line, and a missed header in front of an open goal from 2yards, but that said Balla also had their chances (albeit most off target), but they did go on to score a third in the last 10mins (R Brock) , when Star were pushing on.

Overall, a good game, decent crowd, decent enough surface, and in fairness Balla deserved the win.

Balla:
Hickey, R Ryan, Daly, G Ryan, Grant, Brock, Griffin, Dodo, Lee, Roche, ?

Star:
A Kelly, J Roche, A Morton, P Collins, P Lyons, B O'Doherty, M McDonnell, P Lonergan, Dale McNamara, D Hannon, K Barry
Res : J Barry, A O'Carroll, Derek Mc, G Walters, D Clancy, G Busoli, K O'Doherty

Its a full size FIFA 2 Star All-Weather pitch, not sure how it will go down with other clubs but I dont think they can refuse to play on it.

It also gives the option of playing Saturday evenings under lights?

Hope it works out as it is a class set up

Fair play Rob...Looking foward to going out any using your facility... when you think of some of the shocking pitches that ldmc pass as ok to play football on it would not suprise me if the allowed clubs to opt out of playing on your class effort.... can you use studed boots or do you have to use astro or moulded bootd to play on it?

I hope all clubs will like the set up - you can use studs as long as they are not steel, mouldies or blades would be best.
Would be interesting to see how many clubs would like to play on saturday evenings if given the opportunity?
I dont see it as an advantage in the short term to Aisling as most clubs train most of the season on astro style surfaces anyway.

It's a fantastic achievement by A.A to have this constructed and ready for use. Well done to all involved. I'm sure teams will enjoy playing on this type of surface, if it's good enough for Dundalk in LOI then it's good enough for any junior side.

It's a fantastic achievement by A.A to have this constructed and ready for use. Well done to all involved. I'm sure teams will enjoy playing on this type of surface, if it's good enough for Dundalk in LOI then it's good enough for any junior side.

Theres a few professional clubs that also use this type of surface...........shouldn't be a problem

Sure didn't Russia play England in a world cup qualifier there a few years back on artificial surface, seem to remember Russia winning 2-1 and then England complaining about the surface (after they lost)
