between star and mungret for me both teams just cannot defend both have shannon they both must get 3pts off shannon. looking at the fixtures iv star as slight favs to stay up.

I would hate to see star rovers go down it would be disaster for mungret who got to a final of the fai but i think it could go down to the last day of the season.

poor enough game very even first half carew upped it a small bit in the second half hit the bar from a corner kilmallocks keeper egan pulled off 2 or 3 great saves he really is a top top keeper he must be worth 10pts a season for kilmallock. carew were out on there feet having played 5 games in two weeks with near enough the same 11 but we have to be happy unbeaten in six and four clean sheets in a row tough to do in this divison. all in all i would not deny kilmallock there point they battled very hard for every ball and play the game the way it should be on the floor best of luck the kilmallock for the rest of the season.

They obviously didn't strengthen the team enough for the Premier. last season it was all long ball and long throws into the box etc. You won't get away with that in the Premier. At least Star play a bit of ball and are decent to watch. But still, to lose 5-1 at home to Aisling is a bad advertisement for the league, surely Shannon aren't that bad?

well ashling are definately not as bad as their position lets us believe, no chance they'd go down. shannon on the other hand, just not up to it, I guarantee they'l be in the top 4 this time next yr in 1A, just shows the gulf between 1a and premier.

You're probably right, Shannon Town will be favourites for promotion again next season. But it's very hard to bounce back again, look what has happened to Geraldines and Dromore etc. It's not easy. I honestly think the standard in 1A has improved over the last 5 years

Yeah the gulf is so big that Wembley lost on Penalties in the Munster Junior Cup Semi final to Carrig today Balla won on a last minute goal to Caherdavin in the Lawson and i wont even go in to the other embarrasing results that happenend to PREMIER teams this year because it would take me too long to type them out but maybe the other lower down clubs would like to remind us.

It was one all at half time and we imploded in the second half...we were awful truely awful in the second half.
I feel sorry for anyone who had got out of bed to come watch it.
Relegation is a certainty and has been for a while so we need to look tonext season...new pitch and hopefully a new out look and try and bounce back up again.

Yeah 1a is a bad standard but so is the premier. Look how many teams are fightin for relegation, every year its either Pike or Fairview going for the league and other trophies and Regional arent a bad side either but apart from the 3 of them premier isnt great. I dont know if other teams are paying their players but if things keep going the way they are it will be the same teams winning the league year after year.

nobody can prove if premier teams are paying players so you cant go accusing.also if i can remember correctly the 12th man wont allow talk on the matter so il say no more on that subject.one thing tho that certainly happens in the premier league in limerick is that certain clubs defo look after ther players better than others in the form of paying referees fees, sending their players to physios at no cost to the player if he gets injured, holding benefit nights for injured players and raffles etc, providing their squads with tracksuits, gearbags training gear etc.basically a player isnt putting his hand into his pocket.its the right way to look after players and alot of clubs im sure use these incentives to get players to sign.insuring their players is another incentive ive heard teams using in the event of injury and loss of earnings thru missing work. im sure not all clubs can afford to introduce the above items ive mentioned hence players leaving the smaller clubs to join bigger teams with bars and ways of generating revenue.in this day and age alot of players dont have the money to be paying memebrships and referees and floodlight money for training.thats my view anyway

Yellow Cards & Bans (at this stage of the season)?
Lads, Can anyone confirm what the situation is regarding a player when he reaches 5 yellow cards?
I know that there was a 1 game ban dished out when you got 5 yellows to a certain point during the season, but surley at this late stage of the season they shouldnt count.......
Even in professional football the yellow card count (of 5 yellow's) stops at the end of March and is increased to 10 yellow's but with a 2 game ban. (so for instance if your on 4 yellow's and dont get a 5th yellow until after 31st March, you dont get banned and will only receive a ban when you hit 10 yellow's)
Surely it's only a matter of time before a player reaches 5 yellow's in a full season and therefore resulting in a ban at what could be, one of the most important times of the season..
If that is the case then, there must be a very high rate of 1 game bans around at this time of year, with some clubs playing 2 games a week and especially the way certain refs in this town hand out yellow cards.............

here is a reason why pike keep falling short in big cups, because most of the decent players are signed to 2 teams, they dont have enough competative matches, a bit like scottish lge when they go to europe. just a thought so dont jump down my throat
