Well for one Shels fan I know who went away with Pats, he went on a euro **** up with his mates. He didn't have much interest in the game
Yea, i know people who did it but just seems weird to me. Bit like gatecrashing someone elses party:)

No, I wouldn't. If they go the game I hope they enjoy themselves and thanks for the money.
If they don't go, fair enough.
Same here.

I will normally try and got and support our clubs in Europe. Have my ticket for Bohs and Rovers and will go to Fingal as well and hopefully later rounds. couldn't make Dundalk for a variety of reasons.
I did go in the Shels end at the Oval in 2005 but otherwise haven't been to any non Limerick European away games for our clubs. I know of the odd fan doing an away trip with another club. It
can be down to a mate or maybe just a good offer or a country they wanted to visit. If I had the time and the money I'd probably go to 1 or 2 myself. However if/when Limerick get back into Europe I would go no matter where we play.

Anyone who is a fan of football in general should want to support Irish teams and encourage them to play at a higher level. Doesn't mean you have to buy a shirt and paint your face in the team's colours, but I don't see anything strange or unusual about showing a bit of support for your otherwise rivals in that particular situation.

We had those 2 Drogheda fans in our section in Berlin but i think they were just in Berlin at the time didnt travel over specifically for the match

+1
I went to the Dundalk game (with a Harps supporter) & I'll be in Dalyer tonight. Also hope to get to Tallaght on thursday & will probably go to Fingal for the return leg (as I've already been to Oriel).
I see it as supporting our league in Europe. Bohs are closer to home than TNS, so why shouldn't I support Bohs for the night?

I think the difference being made was between going along to support a LoI club and actively joining in with the main vocal support, singing their songs.

I was talking to one of them and they were living in Berlin at the time. We also had a Finn Harps fan who lived about an hour from berlin at the game. If I was abroad I'd almost certianly attend any LOI teams games locally
I've no bother with anyone going to whatever game they like. Far, far from it.
I just don't believe in the whole "we HAVE to support each other in europe". If you do, then fair play to you

Is tonight's game even on RTÉ Radio 1 Extra? The Salzburg game in the same round last year was on TV/radio if I remember correctly...

The Salzburg game was on Austrian TV, with streaming on the internet. Wasn't on RTÉ, TV or radio, as I recall.

No, - well not anymore. The goal previously was to get all LOI entrants into a position where they could win a round or two in Europe. The best way to achieve this was supporting other teams in their quest for European success as this helped to increase the LOI ranking and in turn lead to LOI clubs being seeded upon entering European competition. But now that we are in the position that we are now in as a league, I don't believe rival fans need to support/ wish teams good luck. I think the onus is now on the individual club to push things forward, rather getting the league as a whole to do so.

I don't know about others, but I don't support and go to watch LoI teams in Europe just in case my presence means that the LoI jumps up past Bosnia in the UEFA rankings. And just because teams are seeded now, that doesn't mean I won't head in to watch Rovers or Bohs this week. As much as I give out about Rovers or Bohs or whoever, there is a kind of LoI community, particularly if you meet a fan of another team on the way home from a match*. I've no problems supporting any LoI team in Europe - and I'll quite happily play the hypocrite in hoping Bohs and Fingal's over-spending stops soon for the good of the league - and it's got nothing to do with the co-efficient.
* - nod to the Aertel Sligo fan and the Bohs fan who managed to use the another lad's flash to get a picture taken on his phone in Kiely's after the Bohs game last week, and to the Rovers fans on the LUAS after the draw in Dalyer among others.

thanks Stu, thats exactly what I tried (obviously badly :() to say. have gone to see many LOI teams in European games but would not be as involved as at a Bohs match.
For the record, best of luck to Dundalk, Fingal and Rovers (whoops Shams ;)) and of course De Bohs in this weeks matches.

What an embarassment that was, ORF came all the way from Austria to Dalymount park with their equipment to show the game and RTE wouldn't even bring a camera across Dublin.

I dont know why this is the case as I there are sports people in RTE that would have called for it.
My only reason is that the money been asked by salzburg last year wouldnt have justified the viewing figures at home compared to viewing figures in Austria.
However with TNS I'm not sure if they would demand much money.
A game like this if advertised properly would certainly triple any Friday night LOI live viewing figures and just might make your half average casual/barstooler take interest too.
Shame really

That's always been my attitude. it's just ye over-spend more often than ye play in Europe, so that's the side ye get to see most often. :p

In this series some of our favourite children's songs are given a new lease of life, by well known singers and retold using the magic of animation. In this episode Mairéad and Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill go back to the song ‘Cad é sin don té sin’ and Declan O’Rourke does a new recording of ‘An Damhán Alla’.
20:30 Geantraí (OS)
A music series reflecting a strong tradition of pub sessions in Ireland. Tankers Pub in Listowel, Co. Kerry is tonight's venue for Geantraí and the programme is presented by flute player Louise Mulcahy.

Meanwhile, when Dena becomes concerned that Chase isn't spending enough time with her, she decides to be with him by sitting in on one of his meetings and unknowingly usurps his staunch authority with his employees. Created by Cecelia Ahern.

Surprise result in Malta with Birkirkara beating Zilina from Slovakia. Another warning for Bohs ahead of tonight. Hapoel Tel Aviv 2-0 on Zelnejnicar as well which would help us with regard to the coefficient.
not many Bohs fans taking tonights game for granted, abcd. Certainly not me. Nutsy aint either going from his interview earlier in the week. The fact that we're "favourites" tonight doesnt sit well with me.

It's all over in the Hapoel Tel Aviv tie 7 minutes before half time, they missed a penalty and they're still 5-0 up!
Edit: 2-1 in the Dinamo Zagreb v Koper game now.
Do Bohs know who they will face in the next round should they go through?
the draw is on Friday Dunny...
Extratim.ie are saying it's on bbc cymru but I can't find anything on there, any idea of the crowd? It's been ****in here in finglas since six, might affect the numbers, hopefully not

Right - this has really got my goat.
BBC Radio Shropshire are doing occasional updates from the game tonight in Dublin (which happens to be the only coverage of the game tonight apart from Extatime) - and are using RTÉs John Kenny for the commentary.
HOW ****ING HARD IS IT FOR RTÉ TO STICK THE FEED OF JOHN KENNY DOING THE COMMENTARY ON RADIO 1 EXTRA?
They said the main reason for pulling Friday Sportsnight was the cost of sending commentators to all the games - we've got one in Dalymount tonight doing work for a foreign radio station - which will not be heard by many in Ireland - and no doubt will be rightfully getting paid for a full night's work doing the job.

if bohs win this tie they could face red bull salzburg in the next round.... how would ye feel about that?
Going by the text commentary it appears Bohs will have their hands full getting through this round. Seems TNS have gone close on a couple of occasions. Bohs not up to the pace so far it seems.
every team will have chances in every game.
Madden misses open goal.
