I'm taking my nephew up in a couple of weeks for his first LoI game. So has Ronan O'Boyle moved to Galway Utd then. I read the same news on the U-21's forum.

Ya but it probably wont be this year if he breaks through to the senior side. But at least they are scouting Mayo for talent

Why should we support a LOI team. It's your home team we should be supporting not a team 50 miles away.

Majority of people support premiership teams not LOI. IE professional sides i am talking about. Nothing to do with local amature Football. Actually i dont even know why i bothered answering that because you'd counter argue everthing id say for the sake of it anyhow. (yawn)

mentioned you before you'd jump down my throat about my point about refs. Shouldnt have bothered really, coz its clear youre not reading them correctly!
And you got on my case anyway!:)
case closed i hope- please dont reply for the sake of replying! i wont be awake for your 3/4AM reply!!!!!:D

read them when you get up at whatever time.you brought my name into it,read your treads..............................
This does the heart good! After all the negatives lately on these threads about mayo refs (good AND bad gunner!), fantastic to see such a refreshing approach by mr T. Cosgrove. If "Closing Time" can confirm that the refs back was turned, then he can only go on what he has seen. But then for him to take the time to listen to views of both sides, and use common sense, and help to clear the lad, shows a human side that some wouldnt ( and havent) shown.(Think "Fahy forever" mentioned that lately).
Mr Tony Cosgrove, I salute you!
As for the Knock/Kiltimagh Captain and Manager- You are a credit to your club and your league! Can someone please Name these men?
Its about time there was some positive posts on these threads. i think we should post any simular examples of good reffeering on the general mayo thread. In fact, lets start a positive refs survey! Great to see such sportsmanship and sensible reffeering
this is your tread

"Im sorry if i offended you in any way, shape, or form. Its only because i have deep feelings for you, nay, i think i love you! we need to be together gunner. please send me a private message sexy!!!!!;)(oops, shouldnt have used your name)"

The above makes as much sense as your reply! now, can we get over this please????? 12th man will put a stop to this:ball:

Paranoid or what. The point I was making was if all these adult English club fans went to see their local team play every second week the Mayo clubs would be much stronger. Why should Castlebar people head off to Terryland or the Show Grounds instread of going to Celtic or Conway Park. I agree that I would rather see a Eircom League jerseys wore around the town than a English club one, but above all it would be great to see a Celtic, Boro or Town jersey.

Yes i agree and understand your point but people have and always will follow the Pro Clubs because its all about belonging to somthing big. But to cut our losses its more likley that people would follow the Irish pro league before they would the amatures. And on that point what are celtics plans with regard to ever having a senior side in the LOI or can you divulge a secret or two??

Fair point. How come the media are constantly dressing this new move up as a gate way to a senior teams involvement?? Did the club look into it at all and is it a definate no?? Beware your answer could appear in "Kellys Corner" ;)

Get out of out league ya Galway fecker :D

I have to agree that if the team did go to LoI I would expect good interest from all over the area, I did not make Saturdays match but for the first U21 game there was a tidy crowd there. Would there be more if they were Senior who knows.

As far as I am aware the club will see how they will do at U-21/U-20 over the next few years and take it from there. Maybe some day

Yes.

clubs like shamrock rovers, st. pats, bohemians, sligo, derry city and the mighty GUFC would all attract big crowds for home games.

obviously less so if ye played monaghan, cobh, kilkenny ... etc but i reckon, from what i have seen, that mayo soccer is strong and would be competing toward the top half of the first div instead of perennial basement strugglers like the monaghans of this world.

i reckon if C'bar keep going as they are that clubs like GUFC and Sligo will snap up any outstanding talent ye may have as ye have no LoI football to offer them outside of U21 and therefore the future long-term development of the club may lie in the LoI.

Personally I would love a Mayo team in the LoI as it would put forward another potential derby tie - and there is no-one we like trouncing more than our imigrant neighbours!!!

I believed it was nothing compared with the u-13 game which took place in Manulla last Sat, week when all compatriots were in Killarney. I believe the side show stole the the show.
It was alleged that to managers collide, head to head:confused:
