As far as I'm concerned the Mayo League has gone downhill ever since Joe Butler took a step back.

It has fallen of a cliff this year.

I second that. No harm everyone being equipped with the actual details of what clubs have had to endure at the hands of the League committee. As far as I'm concerned the Mayo League has gone downhill ever since Joe Butler took a step back. At least under him the lines of communication were always clear and clubs knew where they stood.

Heres a good one so. A league official rang a poster here telling him if he didn't take down his post( which was just a minor slagging at best) he would be subject to disciplinary measures!!! LMFAO You can guess where the forum user told him to go!! Now thats priceless !

Have to agree since joe butler stepped down the mayo league committee has become them and us,in no other association would ya get a small number of people being allowed to make decisions without the backing of the clubs, maybe i am wrong but in the old days the clubs and mayo league made major decisions like the changes this year, with a discussion and a vote between all,not just the select few.

I think pixie is hitting on a very valid point here, with the way mayo league have treated certain clubs this year. Westport asked mayo league to change a fixture from a saturday to the thursday before for crucial game v ballina as most of there players were due to go to a stag in edinburagh and accomodation and flights had been paid ballina had no problem with it but Mayo League overruled and denied the game to be played on the thursday, the westport lads waited for game and were down couple of hundres euro because of it. Manulla got a fixture postponed this year due to a wedding and no questions asked....thanks Mr.Durcan!!! Mayo League contacted S'NF sectary asking them would they mind playing a fixture v Erris at 11.am instead of 2.30 reason why?? 'lack of refrees' after enquiring with other clubs ie... ballyheane, celtic, and westport these clubs were not asked to change schedule of there fixture... so what was this about?? erris had contacted Mayo League and asked them could the fixture be played early as there players had a big gaa match and there was some sports festival on in bellmullet/erris...Why did Mayo League have to make up lies ??? Vote of no confidence i think!!!! and you expext westport lads to attend mayo matches/training for an association who have treated them like kids!! iv heard theres going to be a lot of thanks but no thanks when it comes to mayo soccer team this year... blame the mayo league..!! set up this new mayo clubs association it cant get much worse!!

I can't comment fixtures as I don't know the facts, I will take your word for it. however two wrongs don't make a right.

Would anyone here have any information regarding The Masters League starting in October. i.e. Rules, Price for registration, age limit - over 35's or 40's etc etc.

I sugest you contact The Chairman of the Mayo League.Padraig McHale

There seem to be a lot of you not happy as the way The new Chairman P.McHale is caring out his duties. One does wonder is it him that is leading the attack on clubs or is it, that he is firing the snow balls made by others.
I would have thought like all past Chairman would at leased try and get the clubs on side, for those who failing by the way side, that he would want to meet the club and give advice rather than bringing them in and fining them.
It appears he has this self believe once he sits at the top table, he likes the sound of his own voice. Just may be he doesn't have the experience like passed Chairman. May be he should seek a new council for advice, rather than those who make snow balls

Ireland has an important European Qualifier tomorow night live on television and the Mayo youths and Schoolboys has matches fixed tomorow night in boys and girls U16 and boys U13 cup which does not make sense in promoting soccer in the county. Its olso stopping people from going to the match.

Think you are getting carried away. There will be plenty empty seat to night, these are only minnows of football. Surly if they wanted to go or watch they re fix the game among st them selves.as long its played before the next round.
I think School B/G Football take a lighter view than to what you are use to.Further more I don't think this is the site to discuss this any further.

I think that this thread says Mayo league general topics and I thinks Round Tower has a good point. Our national team is the most important part of the football family and is what our young players aspire to most.I dont think deny them of the chance to watch the game on TV is a very good way of promoting our game. I dont think the league officers were out in the rain last evening at matches, no, they were on their junkets to the plush Aviva Stadium. Actually i think there is a ruling somewhere that states games shall not be played at the same time as a senior International fixture.

I must remind you that this is a thread on soccer and not schools gaelic football, try a forum on Gaelic football if there is one. Scoolboys, youths and girls soccer is the future of junior soccer not only in Mayo but in Ireland so it does belong to this thread of Mayo general topics. I remind you a member of the Irish U17 team who played Brazill and crossed the ball for the Irish goal has played in the Mayo girls soccer for the last 7 years, Aeillen Gilroy from Killala.

U17's Womens World Cup
Ireland 3-0 Ghana
This morning is a very special and proud day for our club as in the late hours of last night the Irish girls qualified for the quarter-finals of the competation witha great victory over Ghana. A great free from Cambell in the first half from way out on the sideline and one from Donnely capilising on a Ghana defense mistake, Ireland led 2-0 at the break. But it was in the second half that was special for the club and her family when Aileen Gilroy from the club scored a from a piledriver to secure a 3-0 victory and top spot in there group thus avoiding old enemies Spain who beat them in the European final. The quarter-final against Japan is on Friday night, it will be either at 9 PM or 12 midnight. I expect that it will be shown on Eurosport live as they showed matches yesterday. If RTE was any good they should the match live.

Quarter Final match of the Girls World Cup will be shown on RTE tomorrow night.

Is there much interest amongst clubs to enter a team into the Masters League after the success of last season's league?

You would like to think they would listen to reason and scrap this idiotic idea, but I don't think it is very likely. Amazing too that Scunthorpe can entertain Man United with the hoardings a metre from the edge of the pitch yet the Mayo League insists on five or some such balls....

I suggest they should have done it so there isn't a month between the second last and the last game. Not too hard to spot.

FahyForever

Also, they are hardly meaningless. If Swinford get something from Ballina and Westport win, the league is Westports. Perhaps Swinford would still have their manager if there wasn't a month long break in between games.

I doubt very much if Erris would agree with you or Westport Utd for that matter either. Both of these clubs were in contention for second place in the Super League and they would have thrown away the chance of €1000 for second place in the league. Westport needed the point on Sunday last to claim the money.
