Of course you can,as I've said before here if you libel someone- by name, on an internet site its the same as the "Printed Word" libel anywhere else like in a Newspaper, Magazine etc.

There is a case going through the English Courts at the moment where 4 soccer fans posted defamatory things on the club site about one of the owners of the Club and the owner is in the process of taking these guys to the cleaners.

The fans thought that because they posted using nicknames they were untouchable.I'll try find a link to it.
Just put this in for a response,
however unless he was called by nick name it would have to be known to the person, It seem hard to defend, ie mouth grinder When the person who is refered to has never been called this by other poeple.
We will wait to see!!

Fair Play so and best of luck. I thinks its a great idea for amature clubs to stay amature while building the set up for a future part time ( And long term Full time) set up. Have ye made an application yet??

Rumour on the streets of ballyheane are that Theron Cogill has decided to leave Ballyheane FC and join Castlebar Celtic. Heard it from a good source. Not good for the club losing a player of his quality. 1 or 2 more might decide to follow him out the door

that would be a big blow for the team, is it true that the goalie is thinking about hanging up his gloves ?ya i could see 1 or 2 more of there quailty players moving on, and if so i can see the same thing happening to the heane as has happened to Ballyglas y/day,

Any views on the OT squad. Besides the returning Utd players anyone else who you might think should have made it. Besides Celtic's John Maughan I think he has picked a decent squad, that if all the Utd players turn up.

Would he make the Utd or Celtic teams. I have seen all the top teams in the premeir league this year and it is really very poor. Yes I know Fahy, S&F etc all have very good players but could they take the place of any of the current squad or would they make the Celtic or Utd teams if so then they should be considered.

ya,totally agreed !! he could also play the odd game for the "b" team (a lot of the so called big and quailty players playing for the weaker super leageue teams would say " i too good to play with a B team" but yet see westport B winning the leageue) and if celtic where to play in the new A championship or the CSL leageue, a player would have more of a chance of winning a super leageue medal at celtic more that the weaker super leageue team would !!

who putting out these ramber;lings of players leaving DA Heane, if a player wishes to leave he may do so.
He at leased should pay the respect of his club rather than look for sympathy.
However I think Coghill and Co has more respect for where he comes from. Rather than someone ranting on, at the end of the day regardless who he plays for he and co got to earn there place.
As for them they will stay at Ballyheane, because its there place. the only time they will leave is unless they hang up the boots.
By the way thunder, whats the story on the one we all love best?

I think the O.T. squad is a good mix of youth and experience, and we can expect some decent football from the side. It would appear as if he is going for "total football", similar to way the Celtic Youths played in winning the FAI Youth Cup.

Oscar Traynor Trophy

Mayo League 3 Roscommon 0

Mayo secured 3 points in their opening game of the 2007/8 Oscar Traynor Trophy competition with a deserving win over visitors Roscommon at Milebush Park today. Mayo had several chances in the opening period through Dessie O'Malley, David Cameron and Mick Duffy but failed to avail of the clear opportunities presented. Mayo did however take the lead through Dessie O'Malley when the Roscommon goalkeeper failed to hold and earlier effort. Mayo were dominating play for most of this period with some crisp passing and good interplay.
Roscommon upped the tempo in the second half, and seemed to overpower the Mayo midfield with some fine play from Concannon, and McDonnell in midfield but they were not able to penetrate a resolute Mayo defence with Geraghty and Walsh outstanding in the centre. Mayo scored their second goal when an error by the otherwise impressive Paul Kelly allowed Dessie O'Malley to shoot past the Roscommon goalkeeper. Mayo completed their scoring with David Cameron blasting home from 15 yards.

Mayo
Josh Tierney, Niall Walsh, Tom O'Connor, Tommy Walsh, Martin Geraghty, Brendan Nallen, David Cameron, Shane Hynes, Mick Duffy, Dessie O'Malley, Eugene Gorman.
Subs Niall Gallagher (Tierney), Pat Fitzgerald (Gorman), Vinny O, Malley (Duffy), Sean McHale, Sean Reilly, Gary Price, Philip Devers,
Referee Liam McEntee
THATS THE REPORT FROM JOE BUTLER.
