on a side-note.... surely we would have been better placed to replace mulranny than celtic b?
if the only reason Celtic B went up is because they would have had a representative at that coaching thing purely because they're super league team rep was there then thats not fair either!!
just sayin!!

Celtic B finished joint secound bottom in Division last season so if the reason Celtic B are in Premier B instead of Mullraney does that mean their manager was doing the course as well as the Celtic A manager. It seems that there is alot ofMayo league clubs repersenyives on here so mabe next week we try and predict who will win each division, get promoted and who will be relegated in each division next season.

Is it to much to ask that we can have a league season without any crap. Kick off is only just over a week away, we still have no fixtures and now this mess they have made of the premier b division. Different year same story.

Sure is very disheartening to hear of these changes, Mulranny came 4th so surely should not even been in contention to go down, Knock beat Castlebar B last year in a playoff at the end of the season so they should have been considered before Castlebar. Charlestown and Westport C who should have but didnt get promoted last year also should have been considered. and this crap about Castlebar repersentaves been at the meetin so they were promoted is a joke , I know as a member of Charlestown if we were informed by the mayo league commitee we had any chance of being promoted we would have sent the town of Charlestown and a few solicitors over to the meetin just so they could cold not screw us over again. Im sure Knock and Westport would say the same... As one of the lads said last night trainin the boys in charge are playin a game of snakes and ladders to see who goes up and down and we keep hittin the snakes....

All we have heard about for the past month is this Johnny Giles walk. Again our league representatives have shown their true colours, more interested in getting a pat on the back from the FAI then doing their jobs and running our leagues. Muppets the lot of them.

The issue, so far hasn't created any thunder within the club.

As with every season, post Mayo League AGM, a string of complaints and of some clubs being allegedly screwed over, but however, the personnel of same remains the same without quib or qualm. I gather that there was not one query put to league at AGM, particularly in relation to some of its expenditure, (But sure the clubs can provide the bail out! as always). Why wasnt there a member of the club association there to voice concerns? As always quoted by someone on this forum, theres no point in complaining year in year out unless a radical change is done to the "caretakers" commitee, who appear to look after their own back door patches. The Mayo League would seem to have a higher maintenace figure compared to many other larger leagues, and higher affiliation/registration fees, why is this? does anyone know?

word has it that there are a few clubs struggling to get a team out next sunday due to player shortage with little if any pre season done. Finance is also going to be a huge problem for clubs with sponsership now almost non-existant and sales of local lottos etc wll down. i fear the end is near for a good few clubs
the wise one
04/04/2011, 3:11 PM
thats the problem with 8 team divisions, when one drops out , 7 teams is not enough, where as with 10 teams you have a bit of give, i hope no more teams have to pull out, which teams have you heard are struggling

Masters Cup
I wondered if anyone from Swinford knew why they don't have a team in the draw for the Masters Cup?? Only team not in it. Have they pulled out or is it a mistake?

We had a team in the Masters League but didn't put it forward to play it in the Masters cup - no other reason
Surely that has to be a sick joke. why should we have bothered competing last year if teams below us went up. can't see any justice in it although i await confirmation form HQ on this matter.
Did you ever get an explanation of what happened.

still waiting for official word, phone calls were made, where it was implied that the only reason it is happening is because the Mayo League feel that castlebar b have to compete at a higher level. its no wonder small teams are folding left right and centre. they would rather a z team from a town in the league than small village team. at the end of the day everyone wants to play football but it should be a level playing field for everyone

Lets hope that Castlebar Celtic B gets relegated and Mullraney wins League 1 and the small minded Mayo league with egg on their face.

On a few points above I can confirm that Celtic indeed had 2 representatives of the Junior B team at that coaching course (the two managers!), and it WAS made compulsory for every club. The Mayo League informed clubs of that. This could be why the leagues were structured like they were. A bit odd to say the least since Celtic were beaten by K&K last year. Basically means that game was unnecessary and irrelevant in hindsight... Shame for K&K as it was a great win.
I don't think Celtic 'B' will get relagated either to be honest. It's a strong team and should finish in a respectable position in the Division. I hope so anyways :)

does anyone know whats goin on with the mayo league website??? apparently this was goin to be the way forward for the mayo league everything was goin to be on it but yet all they seem to do is tell us stuff we dont really care about(apart from the sympathy message). will they just concentrate on the football and not on the isrs election and sharing flood lights.

Agree with you there Jim_Bob, it,s a rubbish effort considering they talked it up so much. They just seem to update it. Great if you want to hear about Johnny Giles though. It seems strange that Aertel is still your best way of getting the results earliest!

I would have thought the League were paid enough as it is to look after the website. Wonder if this is as a result of the the reduction in affiliation fees?

Why not get whoever looks after the Snugboro website to at least update results and tables. I really dont care much for the rest of the back slapping stuff on the site.

Why are we playing fixtures on the Easter weekend!!!
There is no rule that stipulates that there should be no football held over Easter. When Westport United won the FAI Junior Cup in 2005, they played the first Carew Park game on Easter Sunday, 27th March, the very same day when Pope John Paul II tried to give his very last Urbi et Orbi, but was too frail for the microphone.

I know there is no rule against it, I just wonder why its necessary with a reduced season.
