Sure our game with Longford will come over 4 weeks after his injury.

Probably will take another couple of weeks to get back in the team but we've scored 6 in the last two games so we're ok!

It's keeping them out that's the problem now :)

Doyle is cup tied.

And from what I've seen so far, he tends to play like his boots are tied together also :)

Never mind that stupid cup this season...if i were in Gills shoes id put out a reserve team and concentrate on our number one target...winning the first division. He went full out in the cup last season and it added to our mid season blip as well as adding a few players to that huge injury list we had last season!!!

Conroy

How did he go full out?

jinxy lilywhite

I thought that. We only played two cup games last season and lost out to UCD only because DC didn't put the ball into row Z. We didn't go hell for leather in the cup.

And quit blaming it on injuries. Everyone knows we just fell apart!

Well I think they hit the nail on the head in DFC.com in the Bray Match report in saying that Whelehans injury last season led to our downfall.
Look at how good we are at the back now with him. The chaps as hard as nails

Big Time we wouldn't of conceded 3 with him playing. No criticism of Marney but Ben's a great defender. I think we need to wrap him up in cotton wool all season and pray he doesn't pick up an injury

Waterford tonight with a win at Oriel could go top by a point whereas on the hand if Dundalk win they could go 5 points clear at the top of the league.

Should make for a brillant game of attacking football...........................0-0 it is then.

LOL

I have no doubt that the game will be as trilling as the Fingal game there the other week, thank god I only played 5€ to go to that game :p

Heard he will be fit to play.

Hoping for a waterford win and sporting to beat kildare. This will open up the league nicely.

I reckon Sporting should easily dispatch Kildare, they're at a quite generous price to do so too.
What do you guys think?

Sporting should beat kildare...they're ajoke this season!!I would lovea kildare fight and see them pick up a draw or even a win but cant see it happening....shels should dispose of longford easily asweel...they're on a bit of form as off late!!

What a game last night. Should of been 3-1 but hey 3 points is what matters.
Our performance was good and we 3 games left of this series. Limerick (A), Athlone (A) and Kildare (H). We need 9 points out of those 3 games to take in to the Shels game.
We are just hitting form i feel at the right time and if shels win tonight they close the gap back to 4 points, but I certainly feel that if we repeat our performances against Bray and Waterford this week then we can really beat everybody in series 4.
C'mon the town. Are 6 years of absolute misery and heartache finally at an end?

We're 8 points ahead of Shels so no matter what happens, we will remain 5 points clear by the end of the weekend. :)

Dont know what game you were watching, but we played ye off the park in 2nd half. At the end we had numerous Dundalk fans coming over to us praising the way we played football and raving about our No.6 Dave Warren. Your defence was awesome including Ben Whelehan.

We were good last night, not great. Paul Smyth played very well up front in my opinion, linked up with Baker well. We were a bit scrappy in midfield at times but as always (save for Ian Ryan's mistake) our defence were very solid!

Having said that, Waterford did play some good football in the second half and dominated the midfield to some extent. They kept it down and passed the ball well. I don't recall them creating too many chances though.

Ben Whelehan and Paul Crowley would be two of the top players in the league if they weren't constantly crocked. Both have done it in the Premier. Crowley in particular would be a tremendous asset to any team. There are few in the league who can match him in the box-to-box player mode, he's a one-man midfield at times.

Smyth was outstanding, Crowley too. The only time I felt Waterford threatened in the second half was in the dying minutes when they loaded the box -- keeper and all -- for a corner. We should have beaten them by more than one goal, Cassidy, Duffy, Smyth, Baker, even Ryan went very close and we had a goal disallowed with the ref blowing up for a free kick (video should show that it was clearly a penalty) rather than play the advantage.

The reason is because we went too deep and let you have the ball, when it was 0-0 and 1-1 we we're the team in control and playing the football, but for some reason when we had the lead we were happy to sit back. Yes Waterford were better in the 2nd half but that's football, it's not so long ago Dundalk played Waterford off the park in the RSC and got beaten in injury time. If your honest you won't remember too many chances you had, possession but no chances. Good luck

True but I think we where always in control of the game. You had the majority of possession in the second but as the boys said your chances where still limited. At half time i didn't really know how the game would pann out. It was that open I thought there was another 2 or 3 goals left in the game.
Waterford only scored because of defensive mistake but anytime we pushed forward I tought we would score.

Yep - I was very impressed with Waterford, played some good stuff, nice passing side, few teams try that in oriel. They wont be far off us come Nov.

I think this is gonna be the closest 1st division for a long time, its still far from over. Shels, Blues, Sporting Franchise, and Dundalk are all in with a shout to claim the title, its gonna go down to the wire me thinks, just a shame its not getting enough publicity.

As we are currently 5 pts clear with same games played, any further slip ups by the 3 below us will kill this arugment.

Always going to be a very hard month for us.
Didnt expect to draw with kildare though. We need to beat shels no matter what. If we dont and dundalk win then thats probably it for SF.
If we get a win against shels, then thats 5 points for the month of august which is ok considering the teams we had to play.

I think the fact that fingal can't beat Waterford, Dundalk or Shels is your downfall. I don't think you have won any. Draws aren't good enough now for Fingal.

i think your right. We have only picked up one win against waterford at home. We do alright against the other teams outside the promotion hopefuls. If we are to get promotion this year we will have to beat the top 3 in our next round of games with them. Starting with shels this week.
Im still hopeful though:o

Another huge week in the division this week,i really believe a win in Limerick for us would go a long way towards us winning the division, would love to see Shels drop some points against Fingal, though i think they will get the win,Waterford fully expected to take 3 points.Cant wait for the Lim game myself, should be a real test.

Oh Magicme..any chance if we do get promoted this year that you could follow us up the year after,i will miss the Mon Dogs!!!

It will be our intention Shep and not just so you can have your Mondogs either! You could always come over to our games from time to time and get your fix you know.

It goes totally against the grain but I want Dundalk to beat Limerick this week as 5th place would salvage our season and be a good result for us.

God will strike me down if I cheer Dundalk on but will take the risk and send some positive vibes that way.

We should only worry about shels, Fingal and Waterford in the week we play them.

I think there could be 5 teams promoted from the first with the amount financial problems that are afflicting the premier. Somehow I don't think we will ever shake off Monaghan
