If he hadn't fallen out with Gill, he might still be with Dundalk but I don't think it would have much effect on whether he was with UCD. We couldn't do with him either, he's probably worse than our current striking options which is saying a lot!
actually you prob could he'd prob have more goals than your top scorer matt greg. all last season he wasnt fit enough, but liam buckley seems to have got him and robbie doyle fit and there doing very well for us.

From what I've seen of Hynes, he's big and clumsy in the Darren Mansaram mould. However, he is physically strong and causes problems for the opposing defence.

he would be better on the ball but not as good in the air or holding up. makes more goals than he scores, set up 2 last night against limerick.

Hynes is a decent First Division standard forward. Not good enough for the Premier Division, and too slow (could still out-pace our defence though!).

you dont have to be quick to play in premier. look at myler, crowe, mooney, o neill, zayed, fitzpatrick, o brien etc, all not very quick but very good premier players.

No but you need a brain. And from talking with Peter Hynes in his Dundalk days he doesn't have one. Robbie (I want a world record for the amount of teams I play for) Doyle is a waste of space and he is not good enough even for me to lend him my fiancee's tights (effin Prima donna). How many goals has Doyle from open play?
Of the strikers that we let go the one I think is Gills biggest mistake is Flood. For what Flood said/did i don't think it warranted him to be dismissed from the club but thats in the past now. We won't care anyway come November when we are picking up the first division title.

What do you mean as usual?
Last season we where muck I agree but we had an injury crisis that would of crippled the best teams in the country. When one player came back another 2 where injured. And no our pitch can not be blamed for it, as most injuries where picked up on the cabbage patches in this league. By the time our players came back they where not match fit and cobh and harps had an unbelievable momentum behind them to win the league. This season will go down to the wire I think you will agree and we will be fighting tooth and nail with the Shels, Waterford, Fingal for the title.

My Original assumption was always that a team win 3 or less defeats and a goals against target of less than 20 goals would win this league but I think we are looking at the lowest points finish for the champions

you cant blame injuries, every team suffers from injuries and suspensions throughout the season, it how you deal with them. thats y teams need good squads and not jus a good starting 11.

Your comparing Hynes to those??? Don't make me laugh Hynes is an average 1st division player. He would probably only be a bit-part for us and that is saying something as our strikers arn't scoring many lately. As for "enjoy another year in the 1st div" Well all i can say in response is enjoy league of Ireland football while you can because it won't be long until you fold ala Dublin City!

If Fingal get promoted Buckley will sign at least one other striker and Hynes will not be one of their regular frontmen, imo.
Robbie Doyle, on the other hand, is good enough in terms of ability, but his attitude isn't always right.

Injuries ok but not on that scale. I remember our back 4 being injured and at the same time our back up back 4 being injured.

Hynes is crap and you'll know how good he is when Buckley doesn't offer him a contract for next season and he joins Philly Hughes at Kildare. I might ask him for buckleys telephone number. He's good at doing that.

I don't know how fingal are going to be promoted because we'll finish in first and unless i've been lied to my whole life you can't finish above first and the lilywhites will occupy that position.

lets be honest, if doyle and hynes wore at dundalk they would play every week. the are the top scoring strike force in the division. so much for being bad strikers. dundalk fans are just bitter. hynes and gill patched up ther differences and know talk, to prove that gill wanted hynes back to dundalk last july.

What drugs are you on?? Flood and Freeman have scored alot more then them. Are you including goals scored in training or something???
Yes Doyle probably would start for Dundalk like he did when he was last with us but would prob be benched for a couple of games due to his lack of trying in matches. Hynes would be a bit player like he was when he last was with the club. Hynes is a scumbag ****** for what he did to our club and id prob think the same if he did it to any club.

Hynes and Doyle have 18 between them! 12+6=18!

Hynes was out celebrating with the Rovers players after they won the league and gave Gills number to them and was with them when they were ringing up slagging him. He got sacked for that. Was on the rovers bus for the last game of the season wearing a rovers tracksuit. Complete ******.
And if its such a well known fact that Gill tried to sign him show me a link because i know you cant because your talking through your arse. Hynes will never play for Dundalk again.

Who says Dundalk tried to resign him, Hynes himself?? Id believe that allright:rolleyes: Gill wouldnt have chanced resigning him for fear a fans revolt! and an ex Rovers player and work colleague (not at Dundalk) told me at the time that he pathetically pimped himself to Rovers begging for a contract and was put up to wearing Rovers gear so that he would be laughed at!!! Fact()!! Ended up at Derry to every Eircom league fans shock and was a disaster...ask any Derry fan. He was unfit but not injured so not an excuse for being a failed signing by Derry he was purely a fat lazy git. His comments prior to cup draw wanting to get Dundalk cause nobody likes them are indicative of .....................bitterness!

Best of luck to Sporting in their endeavours but i too fear that indefinite existance without a significant fanbase in an already oversubscribed city in terms of football clubs is unsustainable.

tbh anyone who thought sporting where there this season to make up the numbers would be dissappointed. Even before Kilkenny left the league sporting where signing decent first division players. Buckley is a good manager and knows his stuff.
i still think Dundalk will win the league with Shels and Waterford in 2nd and 3rd respectively. Sportings next 4 games will tell us how really good they are.

without doubt, shels are our biggest threat in terms of potential, they have just hit a bad run of form and injuries, and its up to us to put distance betweeen ourselves and them now, because one thing is for sure,Shels will be back.Sporting are a good side, who will be there or thereabouts but its Shels and a solid and regalvanised Waterford that will be pushing us the hardest IMHO

Not a chance. You don't go up this season and I you may survive just as Kildare "survive" but promotion and you'll over stretch just like Dublin City did and you'll be gone.

I honestly think that Fingal will be the team promoted this year after seeing their squad the other night. I never realized how premier it was. Its costing a fair whack too easily in the top three budgets in the league, but how are they staying under the 65% rule. Under 200 freebies at their game the other! They'll finish top dispite having Buckley as their manager with Dundalk running them close.

They've got a huge sponsorship deal from the fruit company whose name escapes me..Kealings or something. They also have significant investment from a property developer who has guaranteed their budget for five years or something like that. They don't really need to be getting people in through the gate to reach their income targets.

Just happy my team is challenging. Didnt expect SF to be up there this season. Just wanted us to be competitive. Which is what we where for the first half. But a good run and a few results have gone our way so now im starting to believe. My head says 2nd or 3rd but my heart says 1st. The next month is the important one, we play all of the contenders that month. While we have done relatively well against them, we have only beaten waterford (should have beaten dundalk at home. YOU KNOW IT;)).
Any way just happy to be up there. lets hope for an exciting end to the season.

We also have sponsorship from Anglo Irish Bank. (just to add to previous post)
