Of course we know it, but remember one thing, you didn't :D We got out of jail, and its those sort of results that make the difference!

You know what i'm not really worried about Fingal. All they can do is pick 11 players and 5 subs. If anything complacency can set in.
We've been touted as "oh you have the biggest budget in the league and you cant get out" Now we don't have the biggest budget. Fingal must have the budget of Shels, Dundalk and Waterford combined.
SF have probably replaced us as favourites to win the league and I think that will count in our favourite. We all know the Hynes and Doyle and with some of their players when the chips are down i don't think they will want to know.
Fancy players won't win this league but consistency, discipline and hard work will. I don't think fingals new signings can offer that

Some fair reasoning there all right. It's something we have to be weary of. We have Paul Byrne now to possibly step up ahead of these two if he can get his game going. As for favouritism PaddyPower are the first to put out some odds. Dundalk still faves at 5/4. Fingal second faves at 2/1.
EDIT: Other bets are still around. Boyles are 10/3 Fingal.

And I would say add in the rest of the division as well.
Spoke to a guy up there last Saturday and the figure he mentioned to me was scary if true. They are working of at least 15 times our weekly budget

They're working off €1500?? I thought it would have been more than that

Agreed.
Looking forward to you guys coming down next week. Great away support. Helps to make for a better game.

Tonights matches any ideas?
Waterford V Fingal
Shels V Athlone
Limerick V Longford
Kildare V Mons
Considering that we play fingal and Waterford in our next two game i hope for lots of bookings and sending offs in that game.
Shels are having a rough time and Athlone are on form at the minute
i'd expect limerick to be too strong for Longford. Monaghan are good at home but poor away so maybe a kildare victory there

You've pretty much nailed the weekend's fixtures there. I don't think Fingal will win in Waterford. We havn't beaten any of the other big three away from home this season, only managing a solitary draw. Could be a good chance for Dundalk to own a nice lead come Saturday night if Fingal draws with Waterford and Shels continue their form, although i think Shels might escape with a 1-0 win over Athlone to steady their form-ship.

I'm hoping for draws all round when the other 3 of the top 4 meet in the next few weeks.

We will be lucky to get the three points but with Gorman and Forsyth in the squad I'm quite confident of the win

Would take a Fingal win now in that fixture tbh. We have to catch you anyway so Fingal to win and us to lose handsomely against the mighty Yuff. God we were rubbish tonight.

8/11 is a bit tight in all fairness considering the game coming up on Friday.

I totally agree with you, but win, lose or draw we will still be top so maybe they factored that in. I can't see us losing this game, i`m going for a 0-0 draw, will suit us very nicely, but a win for you and you`re back in business...........
Decent crowd expected ?? we`ll prob bring 4 or 500.

We won't be beating that number. Attendence will be less than 1,000.

The last time we played in Morton was it near 1000? Our away attendances are very impressive the past 3 seasons and with the game as it is im hoping for 400-500 making the short trip really.

As long as it doesn't rain, that open terrace is a killer!

The terrace in Morton is class. Only good thing about that kip. Though you are slightly exposed.

What a weekend.
Fingal this friday. **ck yeah.
Draw will suit us fine but a win could and hopefully should kill fingals hopes of promotion.

There is the possibility of relegation this year. The 3 A Championship sides at present are outside the top 4 finish they need to force a playoff. Is it pretty much guaranteed to be Kildare to finish last or do you suspect someone else will finish there?
Louth4sam
06/08/2008, 8:36 AM
Can't see anyone apart from Kildare finishing last to be honest. Its a pity as they showed a bit of potential when the first came into the league, getting crowds of around 1000 now they are only getting a tenth of that. I'd be surprised if they don't go out of business.

www.extratime.ie keeps the league tables in the A Championship pretty much up to date. I don't see any of the non-league teams getting in to the top 4

One of the non-reserve clubs (Mervue United, Salthill Devon or Tullamore Town) need to finish in the top four to qualify for a promotion/relegation playoff but it doesn't look like happening.

Decent crowd but not a good home crowd! Title race will go to the wire probably with 3 teams in it last day i think one of the top 4 will fade. Fingal stewards were polite and civil but they did give the impression that they were itching for a bit of trouble....that pitch is really small, very few goals should be conceded at home.

Unfortunately that was one of our best crowds this season. We do need to get more through the gates. Agree with you to a certain degree about teams falling away but it will only be between two come the final round of matches. Not saying it will be us still in it, but it wont be shels. Loosing flood will prove too big a loss.

Flood, You mean the guy who's been out now the past three weeks and who is likely to make the bench for our next league game on 19th August ?
Hadn't scored in a long while before the injury, maybe the rest will do him some good :)

Of course its in our hands sure we are two points clear. If we match the results of the teams below us we win the league. Beat H2oFord and Shels and we would be in a very strong position. This cup game has come at a terrible time. I'd stick the fringe players on so we don't pick up any major injuries.

Bray havent scored at home in 3 games. I think there their for the taking but IMO give a few players there chance. Smyth,Grimes,Marney etc...
holidaysong
12/08/2008, 11:50 AM
Putting in Grimes, Marney and Smyth would be a good idea.
We could then take Whelehan and Cassidy out of defence and midfield and ensure they don't get injured (definitely two of our most important players). Maybe put Smyth and Farrell up front?
It'll be interesting to see if TV keeps his place after his below par performance in Santry...

The team i'd pick would be
Shanahan
McKevitt, Kelly, Marney, Grimes
Smith Shiels Crowley Doyle
Farrel Baker
I'd give McKevitt a run see how he does, Kelly and Marney have both played together before in the centre so would have no problems putting them there. Grimes has played well anytime he has been called up.
Doyle and Baker both need games so i'd start both of them too.
